I’m a teen with adhd and usually get bored on cruise ships at some point near the end of the cruise but on symphony there was never a time I was bored. So it’s very entertaining the whole ride though. My suggestion is to cruise with friends I’ve done it twice and can’t go back.

I doubt you really have adhd, you're probably just a spoiled child whose parents always give you what you want, so you're an impatient one.

As a couple who don't own children, the Oasis class is still fun for people who like to see a LOT of shows. The shows we've seen are worth the cost of admission on board alone... Mama Mia, Hairspray, Chicago, yes even Cats! Even the original productions... those were AMAZING. Flight had us both in tears, it was so awe-inspiring. HIRO was standing-ovation worthy... just so fun and energetic I wanted to get out of my seat and dance. See the Ice shows, they're so fun! And the FOOD! Food on Oasis class ships is bar-none. 150 Central Park has all my love, and the amazing food at El Loco Fresh is so much better than the fare at Sabor, I'm glad they're phasing that restaurant out. I need that vaccine to show up soon so we can get back to cruising, because I need to "catch them all" and cross off more restaurants from the list! I literally have not eaten at Chops yet because I just can't fit it into our week! When Matt says there's more restaurants than you can fit into your itinerary, he's NOT kidding!

Matt, we just got off of Anthem of the Seas. But after having been on both Oasis and now Quantum class ships (we've been on about 18 RCCL trips), we didn't care for the Quantium class for us. First, the staff were fantastic as most of RCCL's ships are. There is too much wasted space on those ships. The Robo Bar was one that is completely wasted space. 9 day trip, I saw 4 people use it for drinks. Once you've seen it make a drink on video, there's nothing else to it. The Northstar was cool to do....once. The main dining rooms, yes, i said rooms, as they're all broken into small specialty type rooms. If I want a small room to eat, I'll go to the specialty restaurant. That won't include Jamie's. While the food was good, it wasn't good enough to spend the extra for. The Music Hall was one of the best venues on the ship. I would love to see it on all the ships. The 270 was a very cool room, too bad they had to put a show in it that is aimed at 20 year olds. I heard no that like it on our cruise. The entire ship is cut up and felt disjointed.Nothing really flowed from one place to the next. And until we memorized where the bathrooms were, that was an adventure! We missed not having the ice show.
Now the room...we usually get a Grand Suite. We did this time also, but when we opened the door, we thought there had been a mistake. They put a wall right down the middle of the room that then makes the room 2 smaller rooms. Open the door, in front of you is a couch and coffee table, tv, closet and bathroom door. The space between the couch and tv is just big enough to put the coffee table!!!!! I had to slid it out and toward the balcony door just to walk through to the bed area. Bed was as good as they all are and the bathroom was good too. But we couldn't figure out why the wall was there! Also, we asked our room attendant if we could get just regular coffee for the room instead of 2 regular and 2 decaf. We were told no. I think that is the first time I've been refused a service and a small on at that. Overall it feels like RCCL is outgrowing itself.
We had a great time, but we won't be going back on any Quantium class ships.

Everyone has their own reason to choose the ship. I agree with you about the smaller size dining rooms in the Quantum Class ships compared to the large main dining rooms in the Oasis Class ships. Since the Oasis ships are wider than the Quantum Class ships, the Oasis ships are more stable than the Quantum ships given the same weather condition. For those who are more sensitive to motion sickness, Oasis ships are the top picks. For us, having two Flowriders on the Oasis ship is the main reason we picked Oasis ship. The Quantum ship only has one Flowrider, and it shares with boogie board and standup surfing, so the wait time is long. The IFLY requires reservation, so if the booking is full for the day, good luck on the next day or two.

Awesome rundown... I'm not trying to burn RC but it does seem they are growing to big for their britches. Yes innovation is great and all the dining options are wonderful but I for one (my wife included) put a high premium on the state rooms especially for cruises of 5+ nights. Heck we did a small, deck 2 interior room for one of our quick 3 night getaway cruises and swore we'd never do that again. Not because the room was less than expected but because we put a high value on the state rooms. So i definitely see where Cowboy is coming from. My wife and I have been on Allure and Harmony and loved them both, and as mentioned we have also taken shorter cruises on the smaller ships. And the Oasis class is by far our favorite. On our last cruise we decided to book a cruise on the Odyssey since we are finally getting a Quantum Class in Florida but after reading this review AND looking at how the ship is laid out we may change our sailing. All the Jr Suites, which my wife and I prefer, seem to be positioned right by the elevators and hallway exits. Meaning, heavy traffic and noise levels from people coming and going. If you are going to pay more for a suite (even a Jr Suite) I would expect them to be positioned in better locations. On the Harmony they were not so close to the elevators etc..

Funny, we love Quantum class ships, and to say only 4 people used the robot bar over 9 days, I now know you're making things up. Also not sure how its a 'wasted' space, when its basically in a walk way!
So much open space on Quantum class ships it never feels busy. I will agree one big main dining room would be better, but this way you get to enjoy all 4 different rooms. I just wish they stuck to the original idea of having different food in each dining room.
We recently got off Symphony of the Seas aka Oasis class and really disliked that ship. So many pinch points, so busy, so loud. Lots of wasted space thats not really used. Yes the park gardens are lovely, but no one sits in that space. So its just a big empty waste of space really. The aqua theatre is also a waste of space, hardly used. On our week cruise they used it two nights for shows and played a few movies at other times. Give me a care two70 any day over the aqua space.

We stayed in the Central Park neighborhood with the balcony over looking Central Park. In the evening we could sit on the balcony and enjoy the entertainment below us. We went on Anthem of the Seas last year and it was awesome! The bumper cars are SOO much fun and Northstar is amazing too. The only thing we didn't like was the Robo bar. Once you've seen it pour drinks a couple of times, it gets old real quick. We don't know why it gets so much publicity. Anyway, loved Anthem, can't wait for our next cruise!!

I think the Robo bar is just for the novelty. Grab a drink or two just to see it in action, then move on to the other bars for the rest of the sailing. Neat to witness just, like I said, for the novelty, but probably not going to hang out there long.

I've been debating which ship to get on for my first RC cruise and I'm heavily leaning towards the Quantum class because of the Music Hall and Two70. The Music Hall looks like a great nightlife spot and we know we'll appreciate the indoor hangout space that Two70 provides.

I’ve been on the Ovation of the Seas (Quantum Class) before. I went in August 2018 to Alaska, and it was a beautiful ship! The seaplex was the best part in my opinion, as well as the extremely convenient dining options like Sorrentos Pizza. The north star was awesome, too! The Ovation is my favorite ship out of the other cruise ships I’ve been on (I’ve been on 7 cruises; 2 Royal ships, one Norwegian ship, and 3 Disney ships; went on one twice). Me and my family actually have a trip booked on the Oasis of the Seas in December, which I’m super excited for. That’s why I watched this video. I agree about the dining comment. I wouldn't do the Ultimate Dining Package on a Quantum ship. There simply aren't that many specialty dining locations. On the Anthem, there's Wonderland, Jamie's, Chops, and the sushi place. The sushi place is al la carte, so the dining package isn't a factor since you'd have to spend $35 pp just to break even. Wonderland is a "one and done" since they serve the entire menu each visit. The Oasis class ships have more dining variety and the places have "deeper" menus.

I have cruised on all of the Oasis Class ships including Allure of the Sea twice and Oasis of the Sea twice. I have cruised on the Anthem once and will cruise on the Ovation of the Sea.
My wife and I enjoy the Oasis-class the most. Quantum class is a little too crowded. Hallways are narrower. More likely to bump into another cruiser. It also is more like to have motion sickness than the Oasis class.
Oasis-class is so large, it is the most steady with the least amount of the rocking side to side.

We sailed Allure back quite a few years ago and absolutely loved it. Last year we were on Anthem, in May we were on Ovation in Alaska, and recently got back from another cruise on Anthem. Jan 2020 we are back on the Allure. I like Ovation better than Anthem, but I’m looking forward to Allure and seeing if she’s still my first choice over Quantum Class. Like you said, it depends on what you are looking for in a ship!

I’ve been on the Oasis, Harmony, and Symphony from the Oasis class, and Quantum and Anthem from the Quantum class and they are all awesome ships; the best in the world. In my opinion, the Oasis ships are better because they are just so huge, there is just so much to do, and I think Central Park, the royal promenade, and the Boardwalk are the coolest features on any cruise ships ever. The Quantum ships also have some insane features, but I prefer the Oasis class. I hope that RCL’s next project, project Icon will have a mix of the best features from both classes, while introducing more crazy innovations like Royal Caribbean is known for doing.

I enjoyed the Allure of the Seas more than the Harmony. We were on the harmony last week and I felt so much room was taken up with slides. Many stores are removed to fit the slides in. My granddaughter is scared of 10 story slides and I didn’t use them; so I considered it wasted space. It was a bummer that they removed the candy store and the the donut / ice cream store for the slides. Another thing was that the harmony’s park cafe didn’t toss your salads with dressing the way that allure did. I know this may seem like a small Thing but I enjoyed their salads so much on allure. I felt allures dressings were homemade even if they weren’t. Harmony gave u a condiment section with small packs of prepackaged kens salad dressings to add to your own salads.
I loved the hibachi on both ships. Chops is always a good choice. I thought Jamie’s was good but not great. I truly enjoyed both ships but my pick would be allure.

Two70 (Anthem of the Seas) is worth the price of admission. That said both classes of ships are WAY too big. If you want to sky dive join the Army. 'North Star' good luck in getting a reservation to ride. Anthem of the Seas reminded me of an outside flee market. Complete with sideshow barkers hawking all kinds of cheap cruise junk (tee shits, watches, etc.). My advice (opinion) find an older, smaller cruise ship and enjoy a quiet relaxing cruise.

Great video, choosing between the 2 is hard. We love both classes. I tell everyone try one of each. We have been on Allure, Anthem and Harmony, booked on Ovation and considering Odyssey. I think your comments as it relates to children and activities are spot on. While they are some of the newest ships, some of them are old enough now to make them more affordable. With Odyssey going to Florida and the amped up Oasis going to New Jersey its getting easier to try them out. I have heard rumors a bigger ship will be going to Texas, Woo Hoo. Now just waiting to see what they do with the new Icon class.

Oasis class have lot of things to do but focusing on downsides which you all want to know is it gets too crowded, one need to stand in the queue for everything including some of the restaurants, shows & guest services, fight to get a seat in the swimming pool, need to reserve shows several months before the ship starts, most excursions gets filled up. If you dont mind crowd and queues then Oasis class is a good choice, the shows are fantastic provided you reserve them ahead. In spite of the crowd, they did a very good job on on port embarkation and disembarkation, I never had to wait there at all but most other places there will be wait times

We sailed on Anthem to Bermuda after several Disney cruises, and overall love it. We had our 8 yo with us who loved the seaplex and pools onboard, as well as the dining. He loved adventure Ocean more than Disney's clubs ( which I think he just got a bit tired of). What we thought could be improved- offer more shows that are family friendly, more entertainment by the main pool such as movies& music.
We are going on Oasis in a few weeks, I think we will enjoy it even more than Anthem. Anthem was a tad "serious" and less bustling than we'd like.

This makes it so hard to choose! I've only been on one cruise myself, and it was on Freedom back in December 2012 (yes I know, I've been slacking, they're just so expensive most of the time!), but I've been watching many of your tour videos of the newer ships, and I just can't go much longer without another sailing! I'd probably lean towards whatever is the newest ship at the time (in this case, Wonder), but the following cruise I'd book would most certainly be a Quantum class so I can get a taste of both. I'm 31 now, so I have plenty of time to try out all the ships.

The first time on Anthem of the Seas felt strange because of the differences between it and the ships over 100kGT. After a second cruise on Anthem, I felt a bit better. After going on Voyager class again, I have a new appreciation for Quantum class. Oasis is #1, Quantum is 1a.

    Hey Matt,
Thank you for doing these videos that are informative and fun and interesting and not overly long.
My only issue is that when I watch them on my TV through my stereo system there is a weird high-pitched noise that is constantly playing through my center channel that is really scratchy and annoying. I only hear it on your videos and I’m wondering if there’s anything you could look into and find out why it’s there and on no other video I’ve ever watched on TH-cam. Thanks again

Sailed on Oasis a couple years ago with my travel agency. I couldn't wait to take my family on one of these magnificent ships. Last year we ended up on Brilliance. Let's just say it was not my, or the 5 kids who were with us, favorite ship. This year we decided on Harmony. We were not disappointed. There was so much to do we still didnt get everything in after 7 days, partially because of rough Seas and shows being cancelled, but partially due to the sheer amount of activities offered. We will be sailing on Harmony again next year and look forward to catching up on what we missed. Do you know when she goes in for dry dock?

Cruised both classes and oasis is BY FAR better. Did oasis first and when we got on to the quantum, it just seemed small. Also, because we cruised down the east coast on quantum, we hit a lot of rocky seas - so I honestly suggest just paying the extra money and fly to Florida (if you are heading to the Caribbean). The shows were also better on oasis in my opinion, the high dive was amazing to see.
