Ahhh my high school years of tennis. I remember the top 5 looking like Yesterday.
Federer number 1 and Nadal number 2 which seemed like forever while 3,4,5 were always shifting between Ljubicic, Davydenko, and Nalbandian

One wonders how different tennis history if Federer had lost this match, and then not played and lost to Nadal in the next match.

You don’t see RF whiff on many forehands. But you could see he really was not feeling all that well.

Just looked like a combination of wind and the ball skipping off the line

tennis was so much better at this time, when the ball actually stayed low and net play existed

its a joke that people call this weak era , so many good skilled players who could compete with the top players.

@@nubjealvin agree, Federer was ahead of his time. Sure Nadal and Djokovic started to catch up with him eventually, but a lot of people don't understand how unique it is that arguably the 3 best players of all time are playing at the same time.

You think this is low? lol

@@Vipa567 It's funny because Miami was one of the slower hard court tournaments back then. But by today's standards, this court is fast and low bouncing.

Fed was really moving sluggishly. Not too surprising in hindsight that Nadal gave him lots of trouble and beat him the next round.

I agree with you, I never seen this highlights until today, Federer looks different, without the energy that he normally have.

Now I can tell why Federer was beaten by Nadal: despite he defeated davydenko easily, he struggled to even make a good pace (davydenko destroyed him in the winners department)
