So beautiful, Maria! I love how you created soft edges wet-in-wet without losing control of water and paint in this painting. It requires real mastery, and lots of practice I'm sure. You really have a unique style, and I'm grateful for being able to watch your painting process. Best wishes!
I wondered if you just did this without planning as it looked like you spent a lot of time on the area around the flame and the background and then covered it all up. Good result in any case.
Hi Ruth, thank you. Something I teach in my schools is about painting with undertones - hence a lot of work with lightest colors first, instead of just using a black paint straight out of a tube for background. Using undertones makes your painting look more real and natural. What I also teach is planning ahead instead of jumping into it, so everything was planned. Thank you.
Yeaaah - another long video Maria and yet again another beautiful Christmas card! Just being curious Maria as to why you have recently started to use a butcher's tray for your pallette?
Thank you Rosemary 🙋🏻♀️🎄🌹 It's been a little over a year since I started using my butcher palette, it was after I did my first painting on 22X30in, I realized I need more room for blending colors in general, the other palettes now are too small for me 😉
I’m new to painting and started learning watercolour from TH-cam a month or so ago. I am seriously considering joining your Patreon to learn from you. Does it matter that I don’t have the best watercolour brushes? Also I understand we can take your introduction to watercolour course when we join Patreon; how would I access that once i join? I’ve never used Patreon before. I am waiting till payday. ❤️😊🌈
Hi Debbie, 🙋🏻♀️✨You don't have to have the best watercolor brushes 😃and you definitely do not need natural hair brush (real animal hair brushes that are most pricey) I only use synthetic brushes. The most important is watercolor paper. Once you can invest in more, I suggest buying good watercolors, then lastly, brushes. Brushes don't have to be expensive at all, as long as round small to medium size brushes have nice points ✨🙋🏻♀️ Once you join me on Patreon, you would email me privately via Patreon messages and then I would share a private promo code for the free "New to watercolors" course in my other school 😊
Beautiful as always Maria. I want to give this a try…maybe adding some greenery? Love your work.

@@mariamorjane thanks so much for replying Maria, I really appreciate your advice 🙏❤️. I’m looking forward to joining 😊💗
I dont understand how you get a cream consistency of paint to dry so light
When watercolor dries, it's lighter. The flame itself has no watercolor. It's just the canvas
don't have a wax stick use a waxine light :P fiddle it out of the holder and voila.
