I was born in 2001. Never experienced this magical era. I have mixed emotions when I watch footage like this. Makes me happy and sad at the same time. How I wish I could travel in time.

Amazing upload i started working the last of the old school big clubs back in 92 in Cornwall but wished i could have experienced this era of the 80s in clubs, thanks again made me smile. PS seeing the dj mix at 12 mins 15 seconds is a real treat!

Within a couple of years Acid House was hitting.
More up-tempo, electronic leaning tracks, with drum machines, synthesisers, strong female vocals, arpeggios etc.
Shannon - Let The Music Play (around 3:00), was pretty ahead of it's time.
Released some years earlier, but perfect for nightclubs, moving forward. Classic track.
I was nowhere near old enough when this was filmed, but I'd love to be there right now!

Tony celebrating his 25th birthday at 6:29 is now 61. I loved this club. Used to head into the piano bar first for a light refreshment before side-stepping into the club itself for free. Saw George Michael there once...

Yes I had my 21st birthday at The Romulus, then we all went down to the other roman nightclub in the basement. Even when it turned into Liberty's still the best.
You felt real special lucky, the music you could dance too, the girls you could talk too.
I feel sorry for all those that missed the classy smart glam disco era, all that followed was the pits of smog full of scruffs on drugs night clubs. If someone could bring back Libertys, the piano bar sure theres a load of 50 somethings would cram in.
Only dreamin. Wasn't it great. Thanks to guy who uploaded video brill mate.

Omg this is memories so much good memories. The days when no one knew how to dance but no one gave a shit. .I remember when a woman's shop opened in the bull ring called Ibiza and the clothes were made from leather and suede and it cost a bomb to buy from there and I felt so cool wearing my outfits from there to liberty's. I was a bad ass. Bouncers could actually spot if you were underage but if you had an older boyfriend with a fancy car a regular it was cool. I miss those days. These youngsters don't know how to make memories they think being pissed not knowing whose around them and taking drugs that's a memorie. So glad I was part of the 80s.

This was my era. The outfits people wore were stylish, everyone looked good. Everyone made an effort. Clubs weren't full of yobs or cheap women wearing hardly anything. Think Sade being played with the neon lights glowing down on men in Miami Vice suits and classy women with pretty feminine outfits. Thats how to do it. By the late 90s everything went too casual and along with it came the trouble. A decline in appearance standards meant a lack of respect in general. I have no idea what clubs are like these days. Last time I went to one the doorman said "Sorry you can't come in, you've had too many", I said "what, drinks?". He replied, "no, birthdays"....

The new car was just built and was full of the XR3i, WV Golfs, Montegos, Rover 800s, Mercs and if you really had it Mercedes Benz. Money did the talking back in those days and credit cards became more popular. It was full of rich middle age men and young under 25 women, whom I could not afford to take out. Mark Cadman was the head doorman and they had a piano bar lounge decorated in magnolia. The gem club of the 1980s scene

That place been going some years, remember it well. We all smart then shirt and ties. Place changed owners a few times. In the pub next door door and wait for the club to open. Later in the 90's it would be Broad st. , Strip clubs, then Liberty's. Brother in law did security at NEC George Micheal concert around this time GM (Wham) had Liberty's for the after show and security were invited. George thanked them all and said open bar, have what you want.

The wednesday night crowd was a better experience ! Hated the saturday night scene too commercial and overcrowded with people trying to dance on that small dance floor. Kind of sad it's gone really these were the yuppy days when certain people were silly with their money. Spending up to a 100 quid on a bottle of champagne to impress the ladies ! And let's not forget the occasional footballer wives that came in the large big sofa in reception !
