Hi, This is Mike. I made this video, it was a introduction of a modified version of our sweeper head we called a Vortech Head. We were trying to make the head pick up heavier rock and sand. There is no perfect sweeper head for all applications. Your comment about wire is correct in a street sweeping application. If you are primarily sweeping trash the lighter nylonv fiber/wire combination is a better fit. Masco Sweepers was the first to use a "Clean Air Blower". This was developed in 1978. A separate cast Aluminum turbine was belt driven off of the Auxiliary engine and was able to produce a higher wind speed and no dust. Most other sweepers bled off of the fan housing which had a lot of dust in the wind and was very bad for your face. This Video was made 12 years ago. Masco is and was a family business. First started with Larry Dyck, my Brother and i joined the company in 1980. At that time it was called Mr. Air Sweepers . In 1990 we changed it to Masoc Sweepers. I've witnessed at least a hundred times they do while wet... just not in storms. I assume wet leaves will clog system. I've observed many vehicle types and drivers. most absolutely do not do the job right. I see guys on phones and spend minutes and miss most of lot. companies waste money on these guys. if new... they do a good job, but next time back... total slack.
Sometimes when it's wet, debris sticks to the ground so you aren't picking up much. You can increase the RPM but you don't wanna run it too hard for too long.
Curb brooms are trash get out and hand blow if it's that bad... I sweep some of the nastiest properties in my city and don't have a curb broom on our trucks... the one that does the broom just gets on the way collects trash and other things on it I don't like it personally

the masco with steel brushes works better, never seen the blower attachment though i knew nighthawks had that option not masco though
