Lydon's voice is clearly not what we remember as "Pistol-ish", but in his book, "Angry is an Energy" he talks a lot about how everyone wanted him to make a NMTB's part two. He tried very hard to be something different with PiL. He's been doing the "pained PiL voice" longer than he ever did a Pistols voice. And he rarely covered Pistol's stuff with PiL. That being said, he does get much better as the concert goes on. The vocal on Anarchy is pretty good. I did also notice the band was playing a step down from what the album was recorded in. Lots of bands need to do this to offset the singers aging voice. Like I said, Lydon's been screaming PiL style for a very long time. I'm sure his larynx is shredded.
@@richardscudamore3712 Ha, it's all good, my friend...I wouldn't typically have corrected such a minor error but then I thought that if someone else searched for the book, best to have the correct title...also, have you read his other book, "Rotten: No Irish, No blacks, No dogs"? Was also a great read...cheers & best wishes from "Down Under", mate...Matt.
John's voice is holding very well, I'd say. He still sounds great in 2023. I liked and still like the way he sings Pistols song since they reunited in 1996. It's nothing new really, he's being covering the Pistols a lot during his PiL career.
Absolutely, my friend...& I love the fact that he wrote many of what turned out to be lyrics from P.I.L. songs during the last days of the Pistols...eg "Public Image", which was all about how massively fed up he was with how utterly transparent & pretentious Malcolm McLaren & his bandmates had become...
I don't know about that, he still doesn't give shit what people think and still as pissed of at the world as he ever was and that gives the fuel to keep rocking.
Rick Buckler of the Jam and Rat Scabies of the Damned are among the most dynamic drummers that Early Punk has ever produced, but Sir Paul Thomas Cookie is the Anchor.
Bolt Upright facts. Sid was a mascot and nothing else. Glen wrote most of the music and his bass playing was fucking filthy. Very underrated and he complemented Steve’s guitar so well. At the root of it they’re a tight, cohesive band.
Yeah Matlock could play but that's not what The Pistols were about, Sid had an aura, about him that Matlock just didn't posses. Since when were the Pistols about being able to play? Sid was on a one way train to destruction, everyone could see it and that was what made the band.
His 'PIL voice' is just his voice completely shot from screaming during the 70s. Check out his performance on The Tube and you can see how even when he tried singing in his Pistols way his voice would crack.
They don't sounds like Bollock-time but still those guys makes me feeling like 15 boy with Green hair and guitar 😁 They just made what I'm now, good or bad!!!

Just sitting down and listening to the Sex Pistols live in a big Japanese stadium and nobody getting down. "Yeah, yeah yeah" then buy a tee-shirt. No sweat broken. I'd rather listen to them on TH-cam in my kitchen tidying after making supper for the family. At least I'm moving.

The guitar sound on never mind the bollocks just rocks.
1st album I ever bought.
Definitely in my top 10 of best albums.
Chris Thomas done a great job.
I think there was a womble involved to.
Steve's guitar on that album.
Being a guitarist and sing song writer and producer of music myself.
I've always been interested in production.
I think the great Rock n roll swindle is an amazing film.
And there's some great sequences.
The gods save the Queen boat trip and then into pretty vacant vid.
Just mind blowing Sid looks great on that and John.
I could chat about the swindle all night
@@trjb1767 Steve's riffs are superb.
I don't many other guitarists even come close.
Though.. Clapton..Jimi Hendrix...
Jimi page..there's a few more but Steve for me is there with the top notch of guitar 🎸
This is one of the best renditions of "Steppin' Stone" I've ever heard. The Monkees version will always be best to me, but this is amazing!
The Pistols version is a favorite of Monkee, Mickey Dolenz. He mentioned this to Steve Jones.
Нихуя ты не шаришь дядя. Пистолетов спмая крутая версия круче чем обезьяновая попсятина ептыть
If he'd worn that on top of the pops Jimmy Saville would have jumped him.
Ray Sharp lol
Fucking Brilliant !!!!!
Then Johnny would say he wanted to kill him :)
Eeeeewww!!!
No too old and still alive
Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
I love how Johnny mixes on PIL singing style
Jamas va a existir una banda con esta actitud...aguanten los pistols por siempre....👏👏👏🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Luckily, I was able to see this tour 🎸 🎤
Me too. Best live show I ever saw. 1996 in Dallas Texas.
Steve Jones my Guitar Hero saw them back in 1977 .
Like a well oiled machine.. panzer unit esq, brilliant this.. they all sound so good, like they never split up.. just got tighter/better 🔥
Jonsey is a hell of a rhythm guitar player
Awesome to see Glen Matlock back .. really nice 👍. Saw the pistols back in the day in .. Uxbridge a college sports hall , near riot outside , crushed up against glass doors for 2 hrs - I could not believe how good they were live , Steve Jones is awesome and Sid played good too (God bless). Late 77 I think . Glen Matlock was long gone , and they were banned , playing under a different name ,only heard a couple hrs before. I was 18 - now 64. Surreal - I’m old , in the wink of an eye it seems . I feel exactly the same old age has not slowed me down despite heart attacks etc 👍 Nice one 🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷🧷📎🖇️📌📍🧷
That's awesome Ian!
Life is for the living! 💖
"AngER is an Energy", my friend! But I concur 100% with everything that you wrote re: John & his vocals...
@@lavielemond Oops... stupid how I didn't catch that I wrote Anger vs Angry. I guess I did not re-read. My bad.
It's nothing new really, he's being covering the Pistols a lot during his PiL career.
john wrote most of lyrics and still kicks ass.people do change.
Cookie is a great drummer: legend
The Pistols have half that place on their feet, and that's not easy in Japan! They always stay seated for concerts, it's what they do!
You people need to realize this was 18 years after they broke up. John was not in that same frame of mind.
and crazy thing is, there are another 24 years and some months since they played this concert
I don't know about that, he still doesn't give shit what people think and still as pissed of at the world as he ever was and that gives the fuel to keep rocking.
Love Lydon so much...
The new PiL album is fucking AMAZING, by the way.
Jonesy's Les Paul is roaring ! Great sound !
Rick Buckler of the Jam and Rat Scabies of the Damned are among the most dynamic drummers that Early Punk has ever produced, but Sir Paul Thomas Cookie is the Anchor.
Rat transcends punk, he's incredible. He's one of those drummers that can change/elevate a song just by being behind the kit
Sid was a waste. They sounded a hundred times better with Matlock, he's a great player.
100% correct. Blame Rotten for bringing the junkie in. Couldn't play bass. Matlock was a big part of the song writing.
Bolt Upright facts. Sid was a mascot and nothing else. Glen wrote most of the music and his bass playing was fucking filthy. Very underrated and he complemented Steve’s guitar so well. At the root of it they’re a tight, cohesive band.
Forget Matlock & Vicious. Steve was the best bass player in the band.
Yeah Matlock could play but that's not what The Pistols were about, Sid had an aura, about him that Matlock just didn't posses. Since when were the Pistols about being able to play? Sid was on a one way train to destruction, everyone could see it and that was what made the band.
John H Sid was a personality , he was a train wreck you couldn’t ignore. Matlock was a nerd in comparison. He has no vibe, aura.
I saw this tour at Red Rocks, Morrison CO. A fucking great show.
The songs would be better if Johhny stopped with the PIL voice on a lot of the songs.
His 'PIL voice' is just his voice completely shot from screaming during the 70s. Check out his performance on The Tube and you can see how even when he tried singing in his Pistols way his voice would crack.
I love Rotten's outfit :) where the hell did he find it ? ha ha ha :)
Angus Young's yard sale.
nailed it xD
Jerome Wagschal he killed a clown and stole his clothes
A Japanese Gay Bar by the looks of it.
Bavarian secondhand shop
Oh This is Priceless !!! Thanx a Mil for The Upload :) (y)
Man...Paul is a Beast :) (y)
The Best I've Ever Heard Em Sound Live No Question About it (And Excellent Sound Ta Boot) :) :) (y)
And Just F**kin Awesome to See and Hear Glen Back :) :) (y)
...Yeah...The Monkees Steppin Stone...Nice :) :) (y)
And Jonesy's in Rare Form :) :) (y)
That's pretty cool that Klaus Nomi handled vocal duties at this show since John Lydon couldn't appear.
They don't sounds like Bollock-time but still those guys makes me feeling like 15 boy with Green hair and guitar 😁 They just made what I'm now, good or bad!!!
Firstly they can now play the instruments lol Secondly, Johns voice and stage behaviour is more PIL - which is why its so different x
Never Mind The Bollocks is one of the greatest rock albums ever made. Every song is brilliant with no "filler" content. I'm glad that's the only one they ever did since how are you going to top that?
Fucking hell Yes
Brilliant
John did say: I do have the best band in the world behind me.
(words to that effect)
So He does.
Thank you
I was there in Perth Australia awesome Iive
WTF ,,lol lol my. Johnny looks like a mad Swiss Yodeller on mushrooms absolute Genius if he dressed normal it would be odd ,,and still one great R&R band ,, great upload Cheer's, wow 40 years ago nmtb
It's almost as if they're a middle age parody of their earlier selves but they still don't give a damn, so in a funny way it's still so punk. Quite endearing
Idk what I want but I know how to get it XD
The Sex Pistols changed EVERYTHING in my life. When Ive heard them as maybe twelf year old kid I felt exactly as when I red the steppenwolf tractate from Hesse:
So, Im not fucking alone after all.
Musik the sex pistols sangat enak didengarkan dengan volume yang besar,
Rotton looks like he stole that outfit from pinocheo
This look os very shit, the punk rock people is disapoint.
Imagine seeing that concert. Sitting nicely with everybody else. Just sitting. Not dancing. No pogo, no skank, no slam, no mosh.
To be honest I saw the Ramones in 1991 and the venue was just as crap for a punk show. Went away bruiseless...but fuck it, I SAW THE FUCKING RAMONES. I can die complete.
That's just the way it is in Japan they came for a performance not idiots well besides the sex pistols
ジョニーが楽しそうで何より。
Biggest band EVER playing in the world's biggest city
greatest good punk band❣️
Saw this tour in Seattle.
With the Ramones at Bumbershoot!!!
Think is swell playing in Japan?
They are the greatest band of all Time genius
Punk band you mean to say! Yes, they are great!
Johnny is real 🔥🔥🔥 Sid ? Who is it ? 😀😀😀
I just looked in to see what it was all about and I can’t turn it off
you can critic glenn matlock, but he can play bass...
Thks to upload!!
After 5 minutes, the dress code no longer matters ... There is only power !!
Don't know mate, john takes being a dick to far....
Loving this! Also love PIL
Finalmente um baixo sendo tocado HAHAHAH
I'm in bloody heaven watching this shite ~ God almighty, JOHN ~!!!!
With all due respect to Sid Vicious and I know that Lydon's not well these days, but when you think about all of the punk legends who have died it's astonishing that this lot are still with us.
Due respect for Sid is ZERO respect.
nope - remember hearing the album for the first time back in 1977 - this just ain't the same...
The Sex pistols had over an hour worth of material???
You obviously don't know the Sex Pistols entire music catalog since you aren't a TRUE fan
I always loved the Sex Pistols recordings, but I always assumed they would just be too effed up to sound good live. These recordings of that '96 tour put those thoughts to rest for me. What a phenomenal punk rock show and sound. I'll beat myself up forever for missing this tour, but at lease it's been captured forever on video.
