I've been homeless for 8 months and have barely showered, only 3 times actually. I cannot tell you how many baby wipes I've gone through. In a week I'll be in my new place, and all I can think about is showering. I don't think I'll leave the bathroom for days

Him. I worked at a school and we had a girl about 15, she was and her mother discovered that if girl had HEAD LICE that the school would not allow her to attend . The mother and girl did not want her at school anyway because they had fun watching TV AND SLEEPING LATE . EVERY SO OFTEN THE TRUANT OFFICER WOULD HAVE MOTHER BRING GIRL IN TO CHECK HER HEAD BECAUSE MOM SAID SHE WAS USING LICE KILLER, DOING WHAT SHE COULD TO TRY TO GET GIRL BACK IN SCHOOL. I WAS CALLED IN AS A WITNESS TO WHAT THE SCHOOL NURSE FOUND.. IT SCARED THE MESS OUT OF ME. SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE THERE WERE LITTLE LICE THAT LOOKED LIKE WHITE SPECKS ALL THRU THE GIRLS HAIR . NOW I SAW BUGS CRAWLING ALL THREW HERE HAIR AND THESE BUGS HAD WINGS.. I AND THE NURSE JUMPED BACK I SCREAMED TOOK MY GLOVES OFF AND WAS WASHING MY HANDS AND PUTTING SANITIZER ALL OVER MY ARMS, HANDS , I WAS FREAKING OUT. THE MOTHER AND DAUGHTER LAUGHTED. BUT ONCE AGAIN THEY WERE GIVEN THE LECTURE ABOUT THEM VIOLATING THE TRUANCY LAWS AND MOM WAS BEING MOUTHLY ABOUT WE COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT GIRL STAYING HOME .. I WAS UPSET BECAUSE MOM DID NOT CARE THAT GIRL HAD BEEN HOME FOR MONTHS NOT GETTING AN EDUCATION PER THE LAW. AND AT 15 YRS. OLD YOU KNOW THE GIRL COULD FEEL THOSE BUGS CRAWLING ALL THRU HER HAIR AND WAS OLD ENOUGH TO WASH IT . I TOOK PHOTOS BECAUSE I FILED CHARGES OF CHILD NEGLECT AND MOM USING THE LAW ABOUT IF CHILD HAD LICE THEN THE SCHOOL COULD NOT ALLOW THEM THERE SPREADING LICE TO OTHER KIDS. WE HAD ALREADY HAD MOM BRING DAUGHTER IN 6 TIMES TO CHECK GIRLS HEAD WITH MOM SAYING SHE WAS DOING EVERYTHING SHE COULD TO GET RID OF THEM, THEN BOTH LAUGHING WHEN WE HAD TO SEND GIRL HOME. AND MOM BEING SMART MOUTHED SAYING WE COULD NOT MAKE HER GO IF SHE HAD LICE. IN COURT MOM WAS FOUND GUILTY AND TOLD SHE HAD SO MANY DAYS TO START THE PROCESS USING LICE KILLING CHEMICALS AND GETTING THE GIRL BACK TO SCHOOL. BUT MOM WAS SMART, THE GIRL TURNED 16 OLD ENOUGH TO QUIT SCHOOL AND MOM ALSO FELL BACK ON A LAW THAT SHE STARTED SAYING SHE WAS GOING TO HOME SCHOOL HER. WELL WHEN MOM WENT TO THOSE LENGTHS AND COULD LEGALLY KEEP HER HOME, THEN THEY DID NOT NEED THE HEAD LICE EXCUSE ANYMORE AND SO THEY USED THE LICE KILLER ,GOT RID OF THE CRITTERS AND CUT GIRLS HAIR.THIS SATISFIED THE COURTS RULING , SO NOTHING WAS DONE TO MOM OR DAUGHTER. THEY GOT THE LAST LAUGH AND WENT THEIR MERRY WAY. THEY USED THE LAWS TO THEIR ADVANTAGE BECAUSE THE GIRL DID NOT WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL AND MOM DID NOT REALLY CARE EITHER WAY. AFTER A WHILE IT BECAME A GAME WITH THEM..THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER USED THE HEAD LICE PLOY IF THEY WOULD HAVE JUST WENT WITH SAYING THEY WERE HOME SCHOOLING HER IN THE FIRST PLACE...I STILL REMEMBER AFTER SEEING THOSE BUGS WITH WINGS ALL THRU THE GIRLS HAIR AND HEAD ABOUT AT 15YRS. SHE REALLY MUST HATE SCHOOL TO GO THRU ALL THAT. BECAUSE OF THAT I GET MY HAIR TRIMMED EVERY 2 -3 WEEKS AT THE SALON, IT STILL MAKES ME QUEASY...

Let me tell you all about a guy my brother used to work with.... this guy was 31 years old. He and my brother worked out of town for 10 day shifts, came home for 4 days and would go back out for 10 days. They were Geotechnical drillers, for core samples for the engineers running the job site. So this is hard manual labor where they're outside the entire day sweating and getting dirty. My brother never once saw him take a shower, never saw or heard him brush his teeth, never saw a toothbrush.... occasionally, he would get a wash cloth and wet it and wipe his face and forearms (bc they were seen by other people) and would call it a day. He once told my brother he doesn't take showers "daily" (coughcough- EVER) bc he stated if he got water in his ears at all, it would collapse the tubes that were put in his ear canals as a child...........
This dude claimed his jeans weren't meant to be washed in the washing machine, that they were meant to only be "spot washed" by a wet wash cloth. So its safe to say his jeans were disgusting. Imagine his boxers guys.
This same guy would also sniff his fingers after he'd scratch his dirty ass crack. He didn't think my brother saw him doing this, but it was a constant tick-like reaction on their 14 hour car rides. He'd scratch and sniff, like wafting his fingers under his nose.... my brother watched him out of his peripheral do this shit for years. Disgusting ass man.

Due to genetics, my older sister had enviable pearly-white, perfectly straight lady-like teeth, never a cavity until sometime after she graduated from high school. By contrast, my teeth have been apologizing to me for being grey and brittle since they erupted from my gums. Every dentist I ever had accused me of not brushing enough, brushing too much, using the wrong brush, not flossing, flossing too hard, grinding in my sleep etc etc blah. My first filling was when I was 4; and I'm envious of people who have mouths large enough to accommodate their teeth, and hard enough to chew vegetables without slivering off.

They are so thin and brittle that I've lost all my molars so far plus other teeth. I brush at least twice a day and floss everytime I eat something. It really sucks because some people are so judgmental and don't understand what I go through that it makes my self-esteem very low

    **long post, but pls read**
I can’t shower every day, but I used to shower twice a day most of my life, until my Crohn’s disease got really bad, and after 37 surgeries, they removed 95% of my G.I. tract leaving me with a permanent ileostomy bag, that tends to fall off every time it gets wet, as it is held on with adhesive. It’s supposed to be waterproof, but apparently I am one of the lucky few who’s body naturally rejects any and all adhesives that come in contact with my skin, so I pretty much have to use a very expensive type of spray on glue to hold the damn thing on. None of it is covered by my health insurance, it’s all out of pocket, and because I have such a high output, I have to empty the bag at least 10 times a day, and it’s pretty much just brown acidic water pouring out of me. I absolutely hate it with every fibre of my being, I begged the surgeons to attempt an intestinal transplant, but they wouldn’t do it here. Apparently it’s only done in the states, and I’m in Canada! And no, my private insurance nor our universal healthcare would cover the cost if I went to the states because it’s not considered life or death, easy for them to say, they don’t have to live with having your abdomen skin on fire 24/7, every single day of your life forever. Most people with an ileostomy bag can live a perfectly normal life, but there are a few of us who’s body chemistry is just not compatible with most adhesive, forcing us to use a special bio adhesive that cost over $100 for a small bottle, and in total I spend approximately $1800 a month just on my medical supplies, all out of pocket, and I live on permanent disability because of my condition. My apologies, I’m just venting, my last surgery was November 2018, I had to give myself a sponge bath every second day or so, desperately trying not to get my ileostomy bag wet, and no matter what I’ve tried, and I have literally tried every single product on the market, nothing stops the water from getting in completely, and given the insane cost, I can’t afford to keep changing the damn thing every couple of hours, I would literally be homeless if I did that. Both of my parents ancestors (centuries ago, wish I had the money to match the title!) are from nobility in the UK, so I was raised to always look 100% presentable, always clean, shaved, everything, but when you can’t shower every day like you used to, it is a goddamn nightmare from which there is no escape ever, and it’s driving me absolutely crazy! I’ve been dealing with this since I was 20, I am now 53, I have had eight different ileostomy bags, along with three other types of intestinal diversions, as the disease kept progressing further and further, forcing them to remove more and more intestine, until I finally reach the point where if they take any more out, I will literally die. I am more than willing to risk my life to try a intestinal transplant, because they had to remove my rectum, which was pre-cancerous, stitched it shut (which hurt like hell), my entire large intestine and almost all of my small intestine. The only good thing is, it’s the ultimate diet, my normal weight when I was healthy was always around 200 pounds, I’m only 5‘11“ tall, now I can’t get past 135 pounds the matter what I try to eat, but eating means pain, so I take a ton of multivitamins to supplement what I can’t eat. What does this have to do with bathing? I guess not too much, I’m just bitching and bitching and bitching, forgive me, but this is not something that’s easy to live with. It has taken away so many of life‘s simple pleasures that everybody just takes for granted. I can’t go out with friends for dinner and drinks, because I can’t eat and I can’t drink, I can’t even have a freaking shower! Are used to love going to the beach and swim in the water/ocean, I can never do that again as long as I live, not without the bag falling off, which happened once already and was the most humiliating experience of my life, as everybody on the beach pointed and recoiled in horror is a little bit of intestine sticking out of my abdomen, which is called a stoma, what is spitting out waste from what little intestine I have. Why am I telling you this? Well, aside from just getting it off my chest, I tell people this so that they can appreciate the simplest things that you just take for granted, things that I would absolutely kill to be able to do once more. Oh man, thank you very much for sharing youre story. And no, its 'off-topic', negative, nor too long-winded in consideration of youre condition..Considering the longer a comment typically consists of, the better the information & experiences become rendered . I too tend to pen looong-azz replies/comments & as a matter of principle take the time to READ peoples accounts & insights, as they'd found the TIME to share such accounts of experience, personal perspective, or valuable insights gleaned from such taxing experiences & ordeals. All too often Im absolutely AMAZED @ the human body's ability to endure, withstand, adapt & heal from intensively insane amounts of physical, emotional traumas & both differing types of pain deriving from either....
-I speak from personal experience as well, 8 broken vertebrae damage to back in lumbar area, which prior to fractures, already had multiple disc herniations-annular tears, etc, broken both legs/ankles many times over, horrendous damage to sciatic nerve branch in right leg (rt leg is 1-3/4 inches shorter than left leg due to bad Tib/Fib breakage in HS during an intense growth phase) broken ribs, nose, fingers, torn rotator cuffs, lacerations aplenty, cubital tunnel issues, been shot a few times, my entire right side of body just fook'd, dental horrors due to years of very poor "Dental Treatments'....
-76 thou$and $$$ worth of such in 2015/16 alone, only to have such 'Work" half finished w/even more issues afterwards than when It had fist began?!...HA!
-So a literal LIFE-TIME of Chronic Pain conditions beginning @ childhood (B: 12/25/1974). Yet Im, still extremely fortunate, taking nothing for granted, full of gratitude, respect & sheer awe @ the people out there who deal with MUCH WORSE than I ever have & still manage to hold it all together with full human
      dignity intact!
-I simply wouldnt be here today w/o the >>live-saving aid> driven >> towards, our well conditioned energy >> flows >> then giving such induced n' steered perceptional mechanisms additional power & reality. Be it/them real, contrived or imagined, yes?...
-Such things are largely neutral, or even beneficial in nature, but CAN be weaponized for control or other agenda-driven purposes. Energy sources, food & water are all needed important items n' utilized by humans onna daily basis. Being fully physically dependent upon. Without such death, or poor health is assured, but those beneficial healthy items can certainly be weaponized by false shortage, market manipulation, or controlling access, price fixing, adulteration of once pure product(s) with unhealthy toxins or additives &/or purposeful profitable market constriction(s)...
-I'd a friend from middle & high school who'd one evening gotten shot near point blank in 1996ish w/a 12G shot-gun @ a party with # 6 or #7 size bird shot pellet load. SO VERY fortunate to even have had survived the incident. Steven had 10+ or so feet of his intestines surgically removed, facing several reconstructive surgeries thereafter. Thats a TOUGH one indeed. He too faced affixation of the colostomy bag for excretion function @ the young age of 20 years all they way through life this very day >>>
-ALL of us suffer/deal with truly hellish health or injury issues that effect all aspects of our life to varying degrees, yet we find ways to oddly find humor within them (IMPORTANT..;) to better cope with, adjust, or improvise solutions to such maladies. Be them issues of origination due to vehicular, occupational, or just plain '!FUN! Weekend accidents, short/long exposure to environmental/industrial, toxins, being used as medical industry 'guinea-pigs' w/o informed consent, poorly executed, failed or simply incompetent surgical procedures or 'Franstienien-esq' drugs we dont immediately see, or feel, the negative overall costs until much later in life.. Or injuries due to violent attacks, genetic conditions syndromes & maladies. But yet still we find the WILL to persevere through the mess. And in that process, or crucible, becoming intensely stout individuals, transforming into supremely confident individuals being relatively comfortable dealing with terribly UN-comfty situations....
~So keep your head held high n' chin up^ & pat yo'self on tha back, with the realization of just how strong you currently ARE, have become, or yet to be since the genesis of your personal ordeal....;)

Stumbled on this post and just wanted to say I hope you’re feeling better these days and getting to enjoy water at least a little bit more than before. I’m also Canadian and understand how our “free healthcare “ is nothing like what Americans typically think it is, having to wait months and years to see a specialist doctor or even some tests havibg to wait that long. Having to wait 8+ hours to see a dr in an emergency room, urgent care being a 4+ hour wait, and like you said any new technology or treatment being unavailable here and our provincial Medicare not covering any of it, hell even if it’s in a different province they often don’t cover everything, I feel for you and hope that you’re doing well! 💕

@@theCosmicQueen Actually, there will NOT be dead skin cells trapped inside. Did you not pay attention to what he said? He WASHES his dreads. That, in and of itself will wash away the dead skin cells, especially if he bathes regularly. Personally, I shower every day but shampoo my hair only once or twice a week. On the days that I don't shampoo, I just wash it with...well, just water. I scrub my head the same way I would if I was shampooing it. This helps to keep the right pH levels so that it's balanced, anywhere from like 4.5-6 (lower than 4 is too acidic). Almost all shampoos, soaps, body cleansers, etc. are waayyy high in pH (up to like 11 in some cases!) which means it's higher in alkaline, which will dry out your skin and hair. This will disrupt your body's acid mantle and this in turn makes it more susceptible to bacterial growth and infection. He's got the right of it and is probably cleaner than a lot of people out there and he more than likely has extremely soft, healthy hair. I know my hair AND skin are both extremely soft.

If the soap has a pH that high, it's got active lye in it. I make my own. It's slightly acid, being superfatted. That means there are still some of the oil molecules not joined with lye. The lye is taken up with the rest of the oil molecules. My soap is about a pH of 6.

    • @michellemckillop5712
      @michellemckillop5712 2 ปีที่แล้ว

You answered your own question. Bc the deodorant stays if you don’t shower. I had a rash under my arms and for 2 weeks I didn’t wear deodorant and I finally realized how bad I smelled. I wanted the rash to clear up and at first I was amazed I didn’t smell after my showers. But it turns out I did. Funny too bc I always smell the underarm parts of my shirts bc they usually smell better than the rest of the shirt and I don’t wash them very much. Deodorant is necessary.

my stepdad only showered once or maybe twice per year usually just before the holidays to freshen up haha but believe it or not he was not smelly . looking back as an adult now I see how strange it was that he didn't bathe but also an intrigued by the fact that he didnt smell bad at all. he had an odor but it was mellow, not bad, maybe even comforting. He would wash his face in the sink most days ,just get the oils off and saw dust because he worked as a woodworker, but aside from that yeah, pretty much only showered for Christmas and the occasional funeral.

Yes its embarrassing to admit and I am seeking help which is why i am posting this. I hope maybe I can help reach out to someone else going through this.
I have learned to take it day by day and if that doesn't work I break it down hour by hour, I have even had to go minute by minute to break thoughts and become a better me.
The first step is getting out of bed, and then making my bed. If I do nothing else the rest of the day at least I have accomplished one thing. The next day I do the same thing get out of bed and make it, then I try for one more thing, pick up dirty clothes/ do dishes/ sweep/ vacuum/ anything

i like to concoct things, like water+ rubbing alcohol or vodka + a few drops of cologne, flavor or essence, in a plastic bottle and shake it , then use it on some folded paper towels to smooth it over my body. especially under the arms. smells so good! it's just sponge bathing, but much cheaper than buying a product. The alcohol kills germs and keeps the cologne mixed into the water. then i smell good after that. ( avoid eyes and sensitive membranes)

You are not alone. I worked myself to exhaustion in the adult entertainment industry for years before lockdown. I've struggled with depression and anxiety since I was a little girl and every day of my life has been a chore to just get out of bed and function normally. I became obsessive compulsive at one stage and you couldn't find a speck of dust in my home or I'd freak out. I travelled around a lot for work sharing quarters with other girls that were filthy and I spent more of my time scrubbing down these places in between trying to work. I started doing drugs to be able to function, stay awake and not over sleep. By the time lockdown began 2 years ago, I was mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted, so it was the most welcome experience. I never had to wake up everyday anymore and the days in between showers increased every week. 2 years later and I still struggle to wake up every morning and do the basics that comes so easily to everyone else it seems. I went to rehab, cleaned up and this month I've been clean for a year and I stopped working in the adult industry so finding the inclination to wake up and reinvent my life has been a challenge to say the least. I shower more often but my body has become weak and tired from all the sleeping I've done since lockdown began and it's sometimes an exhausting chore. Sometimes, I'd sleep through 3 days, only getting up to eat and go to the toilet. The longest I went without showering was a month. It just felt pointless and a waste of soap. I went from showering 3 to 5 times a day, to once a month. It's never easy...I now have to try and exercise and get myself back into shape to do things that were much easier before physically. But the mental challenge has always been hard. My saving grace has been one person who never gave up on me. He sent me to rehab and has had immense patience with my process. Without him I'd probably be living on the streets or I'd be dead from an overdose. There are no quick remedies. I'm going for therapy and I've been on anti depressants...its a constant issue that needs addressing all the time. I know I'm blessed to have all of the help and I always exercise an attitude of gratitude and I try to do at least 2 or 3 small things a day to show that gratitude to my friend. That keeps me motivated...it comes and goes and it's difficult. But there is no quick cure...one day at a time and setting realistic goals and not goals you can't achieve because you set yourself up for disappointment and self loathing. If you get out of bed, make it and take a shower daily, those are 3 goals worth having until you feel like you can do more. Then add more until you are in a routine that is doable for you. Try not to fall back into bad routines...if you have one particularly difficult day, that's fine...but make sure you force yourself out of bed the next day and just get it done. You'll instantly feel good about yourself and it will get better the longer you can keep it up.

Thats because you don't have to worry about what energy you use up while taking a shower or bath on top of much much more pain you'll get from the pressure from just standing and changing you don't understand because you are normal there's nothing wrong with you so everyday activities you don't have to worry about or have to plan it weeks ahead to save up energy for whatever plans I have but we do I take baths every 3 days because that's how long it takes to recover from simple things like taking showers or going on a walk but if i have to walk long (regular small amount of walking for you) and it dont even have to be much walking ill be lucky if i could walk again in less than a week if I'm not doing anything and i play video games I don't need to worry about how much energy I'll use or how much pain I'll be in and in a way I'm very lucky because all this started when I was 4 I'm 19 now and I have no idea what I'm missing so at least I was born disabled and didn't become disabled later in life like most people plus its made me much stronger mentally than the average person and like yesterday what I've gone through helps other people go through painful and hard things like yesterday my aunt ripped her skin open on her leg so bad you could see her bone membrane she told me me being there helped her with dealing with having 18 staples put in and I encourage people to listen to what their doctors told them to do without even trying to all I did was walk with my walker while camping and people came up to me telling me I'm encouraging them to exercise more and listen to their doctors we may seem useless but we aren't we encourage normal people like you to be brave when you need to because you only have to be brave for 5 minutes we've had to be brave since we were born since that was our only choice and what my doctors learned from me they put into a medical study so now doctors can find and diagnose people with what I have and they still have to diagnose at least two unknown genetic disorders that I have so ill help even more people and now I can officially say something most people will never be able to say which is even after I die I'll still be helping people

I’m really sorry you have this to deal with daily.
I’m completely aware of the spoon theory. I plan all my activities days ahead of time to not overload myself. Hair cuts take a couple days to recover. I have a cervical spinal fusion so someone pulling my head affects my neck and shoulders even though my stylist is aware and really try’s to keep it at a Minimum.
I also have there autoimmune diseases that I take a pile of meds to try to keep me functioning. My skin tears like tissue paper and I always have bruises on my arms face and neck. If I absent minded and rub my eyes I give myself a black eye.
Some of it is from non alcoholic liver disease caused by my autoimmune disease. It makes my upper abdomen appear swollen.
I have a young granddaughter who always wants hold hands and I do also. It takes days to recover from because of the constant pulling. It aggravates my spine neck and shoulders. I will never tell her it hurts because you only have so long of a time that they want to hold Grammys hand and I want every minute of that time. When I feel that pain it makes me fell happy and fortunate because of what caused it.
I’m sixty two now and I’ve dealt with this for thirty years and will for the rest of my life. I’m fortunate to have found a supportive husband and he respects my needs and accommodates my needs and schedule. So my life isn’t rosy but I love it very much and wouldn’t change a thing because it’s all made the person I am today. I look pretty superficially ok until you look closer and see all the purple bruises and the big scar on my neck and that’s ok with me.
Nice warm showers help my body so much. It’s the time I most love of my day. No matter what time I take my shower I go to bed right after because my body is still feeling the soothing effects and it’s easier to fall asleep. To bad getting up for a bathroom visit sometimes makes it impossible to get back to sleep so here I am on social media.
So I understand and sympathize with you because we all have to listen to what our bodies want and need. We are all different even if we suffer from the same disease.
So do what makes you feel and function the best.

What made me shower every 2 days, was when I didn't shower for a week and smelled bad, but I couldn't smell my own odor, but my family could, and they complained about it everyday so I showered. And the water was musty.

I once had a serious major surgery where I wasn’t able to shower for 2 months because I couldn’t have any water near surgical scars because it was taking forever to heal….I was only able to wash my hair and use a wet cloth to pad myself…….the only thing I’ve noticed is that dead skin was accumulating on top of my skin and it was a little more darker….and if I rubbed that area, it would rub off and if I kept doing it on a few rows, my skin will look like it has stripes of 2 different color😂😂😂

Growing up in the sixties and seventies with five siblings we bathed on a Sunday night. We had an emersion heater with a red jacket on as I remember! Didn't do us any harm, we had good skin, still do, (though the main reason for that is
down to genetics!) We always had clean clothes and smart school uniforms. Our teeth aren't bad either 😬. Great Video, Love your voice ❤

I think though, after watching all this, I may go and give my teeth an extra clean and take a wash.. 🤢

I never got to such a point. Had times where I've gone a couple weeks and got tired of how bad the smell (from all over) was getting or developing a rash in my groin. I try to go for bathing 2-3 times a week because I've been getting more informed about health and skin care and started finding a liking to my scent before going too bad. But I find the smell being worse from dairy consumption, even within the hour of consumption, so I prefer to bathe more frequently when having dairy, or at least a field shower (using field towels like HOO-AAH! brand, or wet wipes, have used wet naps multiple times when I was homeless and didn't have wet wipes). Still like to keep my nails very short. the buildup under the nails stinks far too much for me to like growing them out to what most, and Hippocrates apparently, consider 'healthy.'

@@bodyrumuae2914 yup, a bad diet can throw off your PH. i noticed the same with diary. i stopped drinking milk song time ago, not for body reasons but bcus of the horrible mistreatment of the cows by farms. i like eating cheese and butter but try not to eat it too much as it does throw off my pH. Eat more fruits, veggies, drink more herbal teas, stop eating pork and poultry. And occasionally wipe your body with Apple Cider vinegar if u don't want to shower every day.
