As a Brit living in the current colonies (Australia), Britain should have given the people a Hong Kong, 1st of all a vote, to become part of China or become there own nation and 2nd to remain under the queen as a nation or to self rule. Britain should also have protected Hong Kong either way to allow the people what they wanted. I have alot of friends of Hong Kong and they all say, it was better under British rule (towards the end). We did the wonderful people of HK a disservice by handing them back to china without them having a say.
