I lived in the Mountains of Montana USA for about 7 years where I built a home and lived off of the land to a great degree, much like the way you live.
I made the mistake of selling my home in the mountains and I have regretted it ever since. The peace, solitude and quiet, as well as the crispness of the air are some of what I miss the most. I recommend to you that you enjoy every moment and never give it up.

Great respect to you and your girlfriend. You should probably move away from the “hipster” lifestyle and start improving and professionalize every aspect of your situation there and do it yourself, like splitting firewood. This is the life you’ve chosen and firewood is pretty much the core. As for bears, buy a First Strike FSC paintball marker and get metal rounds from Z-Ram. You need something like this.
As for the emotions, don’t take it too seriously, it will pass and deepen, it will calm and mature. It will make sense. Just take on this challenge with both hands and go all in every single moment. And the benefit of Sweden, one day when you have 4 kids, you’ll actually be able to get your kids a modest house. Get a greenhouse and step up the garden. You can’t eat and live on mint and flowers. Good luck. Push hard man, this is YOUR Sacrifice! Make your forefathers proud!

Kalle, as a grandmother myself I would be very happy if my grandchild lived the life they wanted. To be such a pure and simple life is even better. I am happy for you that your family came to visit and to see you all thriving and living a good healthy life. Your A Frame is looking very good! To be honest living anywhere requires a lot of work if one cares about their comfort and lifestyle. Eventually you get old and cant do all that hard work and you miss being strong and capable. Peace and good health to you and yours.

Your comment could have been mine! I was 20 yrs old, young+ full of energy. Did the life I was programmed to do. Had 3 kids, went thru good times,+ hard times. I turned around+ have a granddaughter in university. I never thought I would be OLD! Can’t do most things. My body + mind won’t get together! My husband+ I have many regrets- we wish we had left this crazy system we live in,+ moved ( northern Sweden is perfect)+ had a very different life. Now- we can’t. Youth makes a lot of difference. When you are young- you don’t have that wisdom yet. It’s a hard thing to wrap
Your brain around- really thinking about what you CAN do while you still can😊👩🏻‍🦳

      I'm from India
My mother, father and everyone in my family just want me to get a job and do all the stuff people do
Buy land property, earn money, save, earn name and fame and all that
      ......
And I just wanna go somewhere where I can live close to nature, grow some fruit trees, make my own food, grow some wheat in some area, vegetables, a small garden with flowers in it, and a small place for me to sleep
Just as simple as it can be
      But noone understands it
They just want me to be in the same shit they have been their whole lives😢

Kalle, I have the same thing. I live in a medieval castle in the Netherlands and it is also a struggle every day to maintain. But I am very happy with the choice we made, I would NEVER want to go back to the city and modern way of living. That’s no life, that is empty and not fulfilling at all. I am surrounded by nature and I love it here, everything is old and you feel the souls of the people who lived here. ❤

Made me cry. Your family being proud of the life you built out here is just so joyful. Also bro to bro, crying is good sometimes.
I can’t begin to imagine leaving my mother right now as it seems without my help she is over worked, sleeps very little, and has way to many responsibilities.

We live in Sweden and I WISH we could move to the North of Sweden, but we have a 5 year old. IF we ever moved up the North, chances are she would have no friends nearby, no activities nearby and I won't even mention school/college nearby. So, unless you have no kids, you can mostly move out when you are indeed much older, where you have no longer the responsibility to your children.

How beautiful that your grandma could see your home!!! ❤️ Grandma's are just something else.. I remember this one time we went to my grandma in Germany (I'm from the Netherlands) with Christmas and she suprised me afterwards on Boxing Day (we call it second Christmas Day) by coming to my birthday on her own. Normally that's a two hour trip, but she stopped a lot of times at parking places at the highway. I was totally surprised and it showed how much she cared about me. It was the last time she took such a big trip and sadly she passed away the next year... So yes, grandma's are something else ❤️❤️❤️

Love seeing progress on the herb garden! I might suggest transferring your mint and peppermint to the circle section because it's going to take over and choke out your other plants. Some people plant mint in buckets and then bury the buckets in the ground to control the roots. Mint is so easy to grow, but it will go crazy 😬

A cold spring is water coming up from the earth by its own accord, so rain should not have anything to do with the flow of water in that case. I have heard accounts of cold springs in the forests closing up after the forests around them has been clear cut, that is heartbreaking. Hope you find what the problem is.

I did not expect to cry like I did 🥲we also live in the woods exactly 14 hours away from our family, and the loneliness has started setting in almost 2 years in now. Like a hard kick in the teeth that made us realize how important being physically close is. I was arrogant thinking it would be easy.
Also, what you said at the end about life being "it is what it is" really hit home. I don't think everyone realizes that simply "doing what you love" isn't the solution to this notion of perpetual happiness. Doing what you love isn't a magic pill, it comes with its drawbacks and struggles as well. It forces you to do a lot of inner work to create a philosophy and perspective that allows you to create your own happiness when the going gets tough. It's not easy relying entirely on yourself for your own income.
Thank you for being so vulnerable and honest, this is the wholesome side of the internet that we really need 💚

We're in our mid and late 60's, so running with them is a big "that ain't happening", and that's why God made golf carts. Would love to try using a sled, but we're in Florida, so that's out. Love your vids, I watched a bunch yesterday.😁

I hear you when you describe living rural, far from family, and the beauty of sharing time when they visit. My husband’s family lives really far away, and his mom and grandma (late 80s) visited us together a couple of years ago, and it was so special to share that time. Nothing beats building memories together. It’s bittersweet when family lives far. I feel your sorrow.

I got so moved by you telling about your grandmother visiting ❤ I am wondering if living a lifestyle that has similarities with her childhood makes you feel closer to her in everydaylife?

Hi kalle and Christine. It has been a long time since i wrote comment to your video. As one of your first thousand subscribers , i haven't missed a single video ....today i really felt close to your state of mind when you talked about how emotionnal we can be when it bonded to our family.....26 years ago i left my whole family and moved to a far country with the father of my eldest daughter (she was 1 month old)....my will to live here was stronger than any emotion else. But sometimes i really missed my familly, landscape..... But I'm definitely fulfilled by joy of living according to my choices of life. I really understand what you meant when it's about your grandma and mum. Keep doing what you love, Keep making us believing in a true wonderful world after all. Wish you all the best. Where i live we will fest the new jewish year In a week and so . Our blessing to every nation in the world will be sound like this...''shana tova'' which means good year. Love you kalle and Christine

I totally get your feelings with your family. I live in Sweden and my family in Germany. I miss them so much but still I know that I am at the right place for me and my life. I guess the distance makes you appreciate all the moments you get together much more. ❤

Hej Kalle, thanks for the nice video about your cabin life!🌿 my heart goes out to you about missing family when living far away 💔 We've gotten to visit family in Sweden this summer which has been lovely but I know how incredibly special it feels to have family come visit you and see the life you've built for yourself. But it makes saying bye for now all the harder even if you've made such wonderful memories together, the lonely feeling left behind lingers for a while. Sending best wishes to you and your family! ✨

We call your wooden tiles shingles. Again there are several thicknesses of them on different homes and other buildings. If they are really rough looking and quite thick we call them shakes.

Kalle, you emotions when talking about your family gave me a tear to my eye. It was lovely to see your emotion. Also when talking about happiness being a daily struggle, I agree. I think you are a very empathic person and you feel alot but you are also very private too (with your emotions) so to show us this side of you was very raw and open and I felt I got to know you lot better. Tbh I love your cabin in the woods but agree with many that I personally would struggle with the toilet, washing and water situation. I hope you find a way of maybe having reserves in water butts collected from the rain if nothing else and fitting a shower in your cabin and a toilet, especially for the winter months. Your life is beautiful and you can make it more comfortable without compromising on your beliefs x keep doing what you are doing. I appreciate you. Much Love x

I have had luck to see lynx and bear both ones in my 44 year age in Estonia, quite close to small down I do live. They where crossing the road not far away from houses, when I was driving. Saw them ca 20 meters away at the closest point. Of course, the "meeting" was only very short time of period but couldn`t get the eyes of from those interesting and rear animals to see in most cases!

Thank you for not giving up. I have a dream to do something similar, I've had this dream for two decades. I'm older than you, but my fear has kept me confined. Watching your videos keeps my dream alive, but also, your viewpoints make me feel like I can actually do it. Now if I want i suppose, but now I can see what steps I need to take to get there. Your content is gold.
