They are reusing 3D models for background characters. For example that young man that was looking after Mel's mom appeared throughout the series as different characters (same appearance).
Just finished this show recently I remember it being pretty talked about a cupple years back but I never actually watched it until last month that show had me on the edge of my seat and had me genuinely interested in what was going to happen next that show was wild. Might rewatch it. On top of that each episode just gave you so mutch to chew on. Then I got to get excited because apparently this year at some point the next season is happening I can’t wait it’s going to be just as good I hope
