I am so glad this game is getting some love. It is one of my favorite 2019. It has flown under the radar for too long. if you haven't tried it out please do I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Especially if you like worker placement. Don't just take my word for listen to everything that Mandi has to say as well.
Game is great, and I don't get the complaints about the art. This cartoony style seems to work for Klemens Franz, Dennis Lohausen, etc. It doesn't have to be your favorite but don't call it bad, because it's far from that. Not every game has to be done by Vincent Dutrait or Mihajlo Dimitrievski.
I really enjoy the game. Lots of variety in the actions and decisions. The engine building combined with the secret dice rolling and allocation makes an interesting and fun game. I am not pumped about the art but I am absolute ok with it. At least it is something different and distinct.
Overall, I like the art and colours used. I do like the little box, but I'd have liked getting a bigger "deluxe" edition as well 😅. Haven't banned any characters like we did with Marco Polo, so that's great. Really happy with this game 😃.
Considering Garphill stands behind their designs and clearly plans on expansions they really need to ditch the tiny boxes. Paladins is hard enough to get back in there, never mind without expansions. I'm glad I have the Raiders big box.
I know I’m two years late, but Tom your aliens are in the wrong slots :) they should match up with the color of the resource cost to negotiate with them. Otherwise great review and I agree, this is a great game. Found it covered in dust in a demo bin being sold at cost and it’s definitely a hidden gem. The art doesn’t rub me too wrong but I agree the poses of the characters are pretty stiff. Doesn’t detract from the great gameplay though!
Same here. The artwork REALLY threw me off. I heard from a few people now that they like the game, but I clearly belong to those who would only play, leave alone buy a second edition with (much) improved art.
I don't understand this at all, have heard it from so many reviewers, I love the art so much, I got a commission from the artist cause I love the style.
I like it too. I don’t love it, I didn’t get the game, but it’s good, it’s fine, there’s nothing wrong with it. The humans have a bit of an Archer look and the aliens have their own cool look. I don’t get why everyone is so put off by the art.

I played it on Saturday, ordered it on Sunday. Such a fun little game with a high level of strategy!

I think having modular boards is better because it can be used on smaller tables. Your not beholden to a certain size table.
The art killed this game for me. But I'm glad other ppl are liking it.
a river of cards is necessary for less random .
