That vine swing minigame is all about momentum. If you let go when the vine is at the very top, you'll go straight up in the air unless the vine has stopped swinging, then you'll just drop right off. *glasses push* You need to swing off below the vine's apex or you won't have momentum to shoot forward. Now go forth and cook.
