I learned to drive a tractor on my dad's 1950 Allis WD; the hand clutch was a blessing. As the years went by, I spend many an hour discing, plowing (2-bottom), rotary hoeing, raking hay, hauling loads of ear corn and chopping stalks with that old WD. In 1960, Dad traded it for a gently used 1955 WD-45. Now that was a great tractor! Good luck with your WC!
My family went from horses to a 37 WC my Great Grandfather bought it new it new only had a belt pulley and a drawbar nothing else .. there is countless stories that could be told about that tractor around my home town from 1937 untill about 1952 it was a legend.. unfortunately it was traded in the 50s for an All Crop Combine at an AC Dealer (the farm upgraded to a 51 WD which i also have in our collection).. it was sold to a man then sold again and it was found by serial number by my dad around 1990 he bought it back from the man that had it .. and its now in our collection and it will be my sons when hes born he'll be its 5th generation .. the WC tractor was a legend in the day and its now an amazing piece of history
For safety, you should lock down the clutch pedal. There is a lever to hold it down. I see that you had trouble determining if it was in neutral. The last thing you want is for it to start immediately and run you over because it's not in neutral. The clutch being held down will prevent that.
I finally figured out what the purpose of the clutch lock out was lol I’ve never had tractors without electric start and it never made sense until this one lol thanks for the input
Excellent find! That Allis looks a lot like the Case RC (1939) that I grew up with… Recently subbed, looking forward to seeing your past videos.Great video, thanks for sharing.
And never wrap them around the steering wheel either, unless you like broken thumbs when that narrow front end hits something. Almost had that happen a few times.
@ontariovintagetractor I was removed by Zuck lol I had a decent season I placed 7 times I had 3 wins 1 of them was an open class then I had 2 2nds and 2 3rds I changed tires and I need to get used to them lol my wins was on my old tire they're 13.6x38 Armstrongs my new tires are 15.5x38 BKTs which does great in the mud .. my wife didn't make many pulls this year so I don't have the videos but I had fun and so did dad he had a win and few other placings
@ontariovintagetractor thank you hope you had a good season as well and hopes for even a better season next year .. I put the wide front on my WC and it looks good and pulls good I got to get it balanced right ..I have 0 trouble with power I just.cant get it to the ground lol the hone job and new rings and a thermostat housing made it a whole new animal I pulled upto 5500 on the transfer sled and never stalled in 2nd gear at 3.5mph
@ShielaPallister that would make sense , this has a modified hand crank , story I was told it was the farmer “anti theft” lol I am always interested in anything Allis chalmers
I love my 35, it was a local tractor, it had sat 35 to 40 years when I bought it in 2003
Nice find Rick , it's an awesome feeling when something comes to life 👍
Welcome to the hand crank club lol
I grew up with a WC. Real tough little tractor
I just picked up the same tractor in Sept from a local auction. Fortunately, mine had electric start. I've wanted one for years. Cool video!

That’s a great story , and this is the reason I do this. I want to preserve these memories

Pretty sweet barn find!!! 👍👍👍
Looks and sounds real good now you need to make something up to put on a impact gun or drill to turn it oner like they do on race cars
You guys have more energy than I do!! This summer when I got my 38 going, I belted it to another tractor so I didn't have to keep cranking on it!!
I was getting close to dragging it behind another tractor lol
@@ontariovintagetractorcan't blame you!!
Good day from Kit Waterloo area Boy it sound reasonable, looks good. Thanks
Sweet find!
That's way cool! I'm sure you're aware but make sure that ole gal has copper plug wires and not the modern carbon fiber stuff. Nice going, great find.
Absolutely I only run metallic core wires in my tractors weather mag or distributor

I've always liked these as well😊

Thanks for watching , hope you enjoy it
Awesome
That baby runs great! Pretty good find if you ask me.... But, I tend to be a glutton for punishment. Ha ha!
had uk built allis b 1953 and two d272 pet tvo i dont think they had them your side of the pond
NEVER WRAP YOUR THUMB AROUND THE CRANK, IF IT KICKS BACK WILL BREAK YOUR THUMB! I hand crank my 36 WC for the last 20+ years
I agree , but at 4.2:1 compression ratio , these don’t really kick back hard lol
Maybe not hard but QUICK can still rip a thumb
And never wrap them around the steering wheel either, unless you like broken thumbs when that narrow front end hits something. Almost had that happen a few times.
The WC is a better tractor for belt work, much smoother power than the green two cylinder things.
We still use a WC to grind feed on a belt driven Hammermill
@aaronankney5758 your still alive! Lol you disappeared from FB ? How’d your pulling season go

You need to start the crank up on the right side and go all around You are only doing half cycle
That’s all they need , hence the reason For the impulse coupling on the magneto , and this crank was farmer modified and doesn’t line up well
That mag still isn’t timed right. You shouldn’t be that far advanced
I run as much advance as I can without detonation , timing is free Hp
@@ontariovintagetractor I understand that but you can do that with having it centered too. Turn that large cog 1 tooth counter clockwise
@@justinblain928 makes no difference but looks. Why do you think the holes are slotted if it wasn’t meant to be fine tuned that way?
Are you from the Bracebridge Area. I take care of an elderly gentlemen he swears that used to be his.
I am from the Barrie area . This one came from eastern Ontario
Yes he lives in Embro Ontario he sold it to an Irwin
I bought it from Dave wickens , but it’s very possible it was his
@@ontariovintagetractor he says it his he could tell by the crank lol. He has so many of them and lots of literature if you ever need more lol
