Great content...It seems there isn't quality research on partial tears at the musculotendenous junction. I had a bench press injury at 40yrs old and had an MRI showing a 30% tear at this junction on one side. Had a noticeable indention on the side of my pec when flexing it and significant weakness/pain using it, but no bruising. Saw 2 orthopedic upper extremity surgeons...surgery wasn't recommended due to subpar outcomes trying to suture the tendon to the muscle belly bc it doesn't hold a suture well. Also, the rehab after surgery is long and wasn't recommended at 40 considering the risk of the sutures not holding. They advised the injury results in a permanent pec muscle loss, but surrounding muscles could be strengthened to help. After a year of slow at home strengthening, I regained about 60% of the strength, but still have an indention when flexing and it's weaker doing pushups. I stopped lifting heavy and don't do bench press or anything that flares the elbows out wide like pec flys.. Have you treated patients with this injury? If yes, have they been able to regain near full strength? Thanks in advance!
Hi Doc, I tore my pectoral 6 months ago during a muscle-up. The injury wasn’t severe-no hematomas, just some blood that showed up later on the inside of my right biceps while doing an air basicle. I’ve mostly recovered after 5 months and can play basketball and do judo. I’m 26 years old, 100kg, 191cm, and was a professional athlete in my teens. My concern is that under my right armpit (clavicular head, I believe) there's still less muscle, and when I do butterflies, a sinew is visible. My doctor advised against surgery 3 months ago when the injury was 3 months old, but I’m wondering if I can fully recover or if it’ll remain slightly deformed, with occasional pain during tricky movements (especially judo)? I know, that it sounds very abstract and each case is very special. Maybe we could have a call. Many Thanks in advance!
I hurt my pec 1.5 week ago while doing bench press and barbell shoulder press it is near clavicle bone and shoulder joint junction . when I got hurt pain was intense, no popping sound I heard or feel but now it is getting better but having problem when I lift normal grocery weights, can't sleep side lying bcz it hurts, wearing t-shirts makes it difficult for me,even bike riding hurts my pecs. Should i wait more, to do these excercises or can do with minimal pain?
Ive had this injury on my left side for 12 years now. The only pain i feel oddly enough is that my left shoulder blade constantly feels tight and like it needs to pop.
Can someone please help me I was doing High to low cable flys 25kgs each side And felt a pain in my armpit around the front region And it feels stiff from 2 days and there is light pain Is it something serious like a pec strain or anything? Also that was my 2nd set around 8th or 9th rep There is blunt pain like a stiff feeling from 2 days
You left the major elephant problem in the room, the reason why they suffer from tears is because they are using anabolics, rarely a natural guy will tear up his ligaments or tendonds..
Please worship the CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE, THE LORD GOD and try not to worry too much about the differences between the different religions and denominations, try to think about the similarities and the things they may have in common more than the differences. Daily prayer is a fundamental part that many people do not practice although it is encouraged 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 "CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE, LORD GOD, I beg you to never force me to worship any false god or object and I ask you for forgiveness for my sins and immorality. Thank you for everything. Amen." 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Please pray this now, pray the words as you read them if you cannot look and remember them
Cant tell how many time this channel has gotten me back training from minor strains. ✅
Greatful
Great researched back video on a topic that doesn’t get enough attention! Thanks for sharing

Would appreciate more insight on musculotendinous junction as well
Just strained my pec as soon as I returned to my usual benching weight and this video gave me some hope.

New achievement unlocked: Thinking about pec tear during my chest sets
It’s not as likely if you’re not on gear, and even less likely if you don’t try to max out your incline bench like an idiot.
The risk is minimal.
@@E3Rehab yeah i know, plus i only do deficit deep pushups and the weight will never be as much as that bench.
Ya he overdid it @@jankroka5351
Don't.

Nice nocebo attempt with that intro, E3. Your attempts were all but futile!
Not really sure what you're trying to say.
@@E3Rehab My poor attempt at sarcasm.
