I noticed that immediately. Yoshi does things like that, too--when Sonic went flying from the Breaker Beam attack, Yoshi grabbed him out of the air. Yoshi is a total bro in team fights.
I like how this isn’t just a straight carbon copy of the original. There are a lot of changes here, and it still retains that familiarity of the old episode.

It's not as snappy as the original, but it tells a story, every movement has a reason and a set-up, it's "slower" but it puts an emphasize on showing why the characters move the way they do, methodical, it's good man, keep it up.

One thing I applaud about this remake is how closely it keeps with the original's pacing. Alvin's greatest strength was the pacing and choreography of the fights he made, so keeping that in this is a plus.

This is the BEST reanimation Ive ever seen, the colour pallete on Fire Sonic is really fitting as well AND you managed to get some of the Sonic voice clips from "Sonic And The Black Knight" WHICH I NEVER FOUND BESIDES THE CUTSCENES AND DIALOGS. Very smooth and well animated. It is slower like another commenter said but you can more clearly see what’s going on. I watched the original so many times that I remember every sound effect so it threw me off to hear the different ones you used here. I had to watch it a second time to appreciate how much your choice of sfx made more sense! I liked the metallic sound of Luigi’s hammer when he slams his enemy before laughing, Sonic’s barrage of fireballs no longer distorts my audio, and many more details. It is half as fast as I I would like, but more than half as smooth than I deserve (props if you catch the reference).
I like to see Fire Sonic as an almost "Semi Super" form - his power has clear been boosted significantly, and, although doesn't have the invincibility of Super Sonic, definitely has at least a significant portion of what Super Sonic can do in some ways
Seeing Sonic get a Fire Flower was the dopest sh!t ever to me as a kid and I could not have a bigger smile on my face when watching this. Absolute beauty from beginning to end.
I'd say quite on par. I do have a preference for the original especially because of its constantly very quick pace, but this one's undisputedly awesome too.

The scene that introduced me to a Legend. I'll be honest while I do prefer Mark's original version, this remade version is great as well. And it shows how much you came from your first Sprite video. Some differences here and there make it stand out a bit. Congratulations on your 2k milestone.
