Lyney is such a surprisingly complex character which I feel not many expected and it honestly plays into his theme even more. But really, regardless of his future decisions, I feel that he will ultimately suffer a lot which I’m sad yet excited to see how it plays out.
REAL i didnt expect him to be so heavy with lore, i thought hed just be a random magician whode be able to introduce fontaine to us, similar to thoma in inazuma. But since hes connected to the fatui and the fontaine myth he’d be really important even beyond his magic tricks
@@SorarikoMotone Yeah! We tend to forget that most of the travail characters are always pretty important to the plot and are usually someone of great authority in one way or another. Idk if it was intentional or not especially with all the implications regarding their involvement in future quests.
With how Lyney’s relationship with the Traveler has played out so far, and even the entire Fontaine Archon Quest for that matter, I think it’s plausible that Fontaine will be a rare instance of the Fatui being the Traveler’s ally for once.
He's going to be ultimately loyal to the House of Hearth. As long as their interest matches up with the travelers they can be trusted, after all we met the another member of the Hearth in the Chasm and she was convinced her partner would never leave her behind, loyalty is above all to the Hearth. But if their interests conflict. Lyney will go with the HoH. Even if it pains him to do so.

Lyney is one of my absolute favorite characters in the whole game. The duality and complexity of his character is so interesting and I can't wait to see where Hoyo takes his story
Lyney is loyal to Lynette more than he is to the Fatui. If the Fatui turns on them and makes him choose between him and Lynette, it's Lynette every time. My headcanon is that Lynette's joking around about being a robot is a lie: she actually got captured/harmed and the version the Knave "rescued" is a realistic robot ala Katheryne made to get Lyney's loyalty. That's why she also breaks machinery - her own tech is incompatible, or it's an act to hide her robot nature.
Honestly... Even though I am still doing Inazuma's quests, I am practically EXPECTING him to betray us. The Fatui left such a soar impression on me that I am just expecting trouble at literally every opportunity. I feel like I need to be 100% vigilant around them at all times. (Except Freminet, nah he Chiil.)
I think Lyney was trying to become his rolemodel Arlecchino. Mainly picking up a thief from the street with no real bright future looking for guidance and introduce them into the show so to speak. The real question is was it staged so that Childe became the accused. Was that the real trick that we missed because we were preoccupied with a trial that on its surface looked important but in the grand scheme of things becomes a distraction. Tada
I don’t know how to articulate the character archetype Lyney embodies, but I feel it falls under the range of “Rogue you can trust because know you shouldn’t entirely trust them.” if that makes any sense. His character motivation is entirely centered in his Family. That’s the lens I believe he sees everything through. If you frame it like that, I feel it is relatively simple (but not easy) to figure out what you can and cannot trust him about. I think he see himself in the Traveler. Given the Traveler’s goal of reaching their sibling… I feel like we can trust him as far as that is concerned based on his voicelines. What you cannot trust him about is anything that could potentially compromise his Sister, the House of the Hearth, and the Knave. Everything else is just facade and bravado to protect himself and his family as mentioned in the video. Which I believe makes him surprisingly similar to Furina depending on where they take her story. It will be interesting to see where Lyney’s story goes specially if his “Father” tests those familial bonds and filial piety.
A question for both Lyney and Traveler: Would you still sticm with your family if what they're doing is wrong? For Lyney, it's the House of the Hearth. For Traveler, it's the Abyss sibling.

I think they'd not necessarily hurt people and they'd attempt to stop their sibling doing so, but if the world was burning and their sibling said lets leave they would.
Jemma tells lyney that he’ll end up all alone just like her. I think this is a potential foreshadow of him actually opposing Lynette. It would be a scenario in which the fatui are doing something terrible but lyney has convinced himself that it’s what’s best for his family and shoulder the burden alone. At the very least, I’d love to see that kind of development so we can find out “what family really means to him”
Lyney’s probly the friendliest Fatui member since Childe, but like all Fatui members, I can’t trust any of them, regardless of how well intentioned they all are. As someone who hasn’t played his story mission yet, I always felt that the Traveller would have been even more upset in particular by Lyney’s dishonesty because he is one of the few twins that the Traveller meets and could relate to. I js wanted to say, your narrating is so good and you explained it very well. Hoyo made his story so nicely and every backstory is js rlly good. Honestly, this dude needs a hug.
I think it has a bit more meaning behind this. Because of the way it ends, Snezhnevich is not a surname, its a father's name, so this implies that these orphans are children of their now fatherland, Snezhnaya
The thread so far for playable Fatui members, the were introduced as the bad guy then the moment their banners are on sale Hoyo will release a story or event that will let the players see their good side. But for this one, they are like a marketing genius they let this banner go on sale first give a character some good side (yet some suspicious actions for players to wonder) then Hoyo is free to reveal their bad side (or even reveal them as a bad guy in the next story if they want to).
I find Lyney to be a very interesting character and the whole aspect of *Trust* or lack thereof surrounding him, personally I do have some reservations to not fully trust Lyney for as you had said Lyney may be friendly for now but that does not stop him from at least be opposed to our goals either. I will say that for now Lyney is in a middle grey area on at least how well we could trust him, he is sort of like Childe where he is somewhat good nature in heart but like him has no quams of doing the morally questionable things. Though I do trust Childe a bit more since Liyue, he is still somewhat shady and same thing goes for Lyney, I have a strong feeling that this will be similar for pretty much all other characters who are in some way connected to the Fatui
ive seen so many theorys that in the end lyney will betray the traveller and give the gnosis to the fatui and i hoenstly so hope its real i would just love to see that play out
As a traveller..I probably will put him a bit of trust as long as our goal aligned. Using and being used is not a new thing, anyway…. Archon’s gnosis? We may prolly help them in the process…
Lyney did apologize for not telling MC about the connection to Fatui. Childe didn’t even apologize for his reveal of being a Fatui Harbinger. Lyney and Lynette are both so cute together as twins. I’m hopeful for a hangout date soon with Lyney. Lyney is somewhat romantic like Kaeya, Albedo and Zhongli mixture in one. The mystery is more appealing to me. Btw, I play the girl MC instead of the guy MC.
Childe saved traveller and straight up told them that they are 11th fatui harbinger. So why should he apologise when he never lied? At the end he was played around by Zhongli and Signora. So only apology is owed to Ningguang and Liyue citizens.
@@hr6439 and even then I think Zhongli is the one who actually owes them the biggest apology, especially to the families of those who died/were injured during the Osial and Beisht fights.
I will always love Lyney but I imagine if we ever cut ties with the Knave, he’ll have to put that first of course. But as long as that doesn’t come to happen, I will always be ready to journey with the magician, charismatic, or his true self.
When Lynely speak about him probably having to take over the role of the caretaker for the orphanage after Arlecchino...I think he is under the impression that Arlecchino is a normal human but considering most of the Harbingers are people who do not have normal life spans, we cant assume Arlecchino is a normal human. So I doubt he will need to take over, but if Lynely one day have to take over the orphanage, I hope its of his own free will, and it will be free from the Fatuis clutches.
great vid, the only thing snezhEvich would be more correct rather than sEzhevich, but eng genshin dub usually messes a lot russian spelling, stressing and pronunciation, so ig it's not big deal😭
wait, that's Lyney and Lynette's surname? where does that show up in game??? i always get so thrown off when we hear a playable character's surname and i wanna know moreeee
I think it was either on Inazuma or Chasm quests. Where its told that people from the House of the Hearth gets surname based on gender Snezhevich for males and Snezhevna for females.
Either mentioned in Lyudochka quest in inazuma or one of the chasm fatui quests that House member orphans adopt the surname Snezhevich or Snezhna (Son or Daughter of snow respectively)
Aster, si paimon nung na meet natin sa simula ng game. Nalulunod at na fish lng ng traveller. How come na nakakausap nya si traveller underwater sa fontaine when only the traveler ung naka resonate sa Statue of the Seven? Food for thought😂
He’s a Fatui; that’s all I needed to know to not trust him. I’m curious though on whether he truly understands the organization he belongs to and the many crimes that their responsible for
I feel like he does think he is doing so bad stuff and feels like the Knave is using him but he is too emotionally attached with Arlecchino being their saviour. Kinda makes me wonder how it was such a great convenience timing wise that the nobles planning the human trafficking were killed of and now she had access to many kids that worshipped her as a saviour so she can train to be child soldiers?
Since Arlecchino has made him her successor, if he didn't understand, I doubt she'd do that. Surely that means he understands the house more than all the other orphans
He already said it in his lore that at least Hotel d’ete’s where he belongs to, work toward just cause for fontaine thou sometimes radical. He deems it necessary for today’s fontaine to have some control over the inner working of fontaine to prevent any serious incidents from occuring, And yes, i think he know what fatui are doing around the world as a whole. Thats why he doesnt tell traveller at first and understand why the traveller would be angry. But regardless of everyone’s view toward the fatui, he himself believes he is doing the right things.
Do you trust people who work for the police or government because ALOT of those people are evil to their core. I don't think it makes someone ignorant or bad working for the latter knowing or not knowing about that. Their morality is their own. In other words Lyney is his own person too.
it's actually not a last name😭 More like a middle name (patronim, it's like if ur dad's name is Ivan then ur middle name will be Ivanovich (for guys) or Ivanovna (for girls), our last names usually end with ev/ov (for guys) and eva/ova (for girls)
Lyney says that magicians and thieves are different. However when the magician himself is the thief then wouldn't that make them one and the same? (Headcanon: Lyney lies to myself saying that he's a magician to hide the fact he dealt in thievery before.)
@@keefyboi5307from the official wiki (also from one of the world quests in the chasm, fatui quests related to HoH and so on). Children of the house of the hearth are given the name snezhevich and snezhevna (both meaning son/daughter of the snow) and it also ties them with snezhnaya
Every orphan from the house of hearth is given a surname based on gender, the one Lyney has is masculine, while the feminine one is different though similar (this is explained in the Inazuma world quest with the fatui shrine maiden when Arlecchino was first mentioned)
genshin finally dares to give us more characters who aren't always such goody-two-shoes, which is a great thing I'm just worried that the toxic community might make them cringe from making such bold moves again
at first i really didn't like Lyney that much. i thought his reaction to his assistant dying was unrealistically ignorant and that his persona felt more like a pretentious trope than anything else, like he had one personality trait (similar to Raiden Shogun) which was being extremely edgy and predictable. however, after listening to all of his voicelines and watching this video I can appreciate the thought put into his character more and can tell that he's not just another edgy character for the sake of being edgy
Am I the only one who is mildly annoyed that they keep using the terms "magician" and "magic" rather than "illusionist" and "illusions" since his entire schtick is that he's open about the fact that he's using misdirection and mechanical gimmicks rather than the magic that actually and obviously exists and permeates their society? Like, the escape tricks they pull off are considered special because they are not using the standard Vision-bearer short range teleportation, or using borrowing whatever gimmick that allows their fellow House of the Hearth alumni to blink around a battlefield, or the techniques that the magic college in the country next door uses to create Domains, or anytime like that.
@@mob806 He is, since the first thing he did in his performance is give his and Lynette's Visions to someone else while saying that elemental powers will have nothing to do with what they are about to see.
@@18_moch.januarakbar17 His character theme is about stage magic, not real magic. Dude is using playing cards, top hats, and prop magic, talks all about misdirection/sleight of hand, and flat out says that he won't be using elemental magic (AKA, the magic of the gods themselves) for his tricks at the opening of his act. Heck, he and Lynette had both been performing as stage magicians for awhile before Lynette and then eventually Lyney got their Visions, and there's no indication that either of them were able to use any kind of magic before that. Contrast against the people whose themes are actual magic, like Lisa or Mona, who talk about the mysteries of the universe and about how they are using actual magic, and who both were practicing magic under actual magic teachers even before they got their Visions. Not to mention that he's an archer rather than a catalyst user, though that's not a concrete example since Yelan seems to have mastered throwing Hydro arrows with extreme precision even before she got her Vision while Ningguang probably never used magic until she got her Vision recently, and most/all of her major feats involved her being on the deck of her personal magic battleship that she had other people build and then loaded up with donated Adepti seals and government funded modified Adepti weaponry, or participating in Qixing magical ceremonies that presumably the elderly civilian member of the Qixing should also be able to perform.

I js wanted to say, your narrating is so good and you explained it very well. Hoyo made his story so nicely and every backstory is js rlly good. Honestly, this dude needs a hug.
The title of your video made me realize all House of Hearth kids are essentially named Snow like in Jon Snow
I think it has a bit more meaning behind this. Because of the way it ends, Snezhnevich is not a surname, its a father's name, so this implies that these orphans are children of their now fatherland, Snezhnaya
@@salto7080 true but it's also a bit funny because Snezhnaya is explicitly female and Snezhevich is a patronymic
@@salto7080That’s interesting!
7:05 you repeated the sentence 'this gives them a unique position to understand how the upper echelons...'
Excelent video. Im led to believe there is still something major that wasnt revealed at the trial. Lets wait and see
He's handsome .. he can't be evil
I put my full trust in this guy

Though I do trust Childe a bit more since Liyue, he is still somewhat shady and same thing goes for Lyney, I have a strong feeling that this will be similar for pretty much all other characters who are in some way connected to the Fatui
ur narration is so good man
7:03 I think it gives them a unique position to understand how the upper echelon of society work.
ive seen so many theorys that in the end lyney will betray the traveller and give the gnosis to the fatui and i hoenstly so hope its real i would just love to see that play out
Thank you for the video Aster, it is definitely my first time watching it! ^_^
7:14 you forgot to cut the sentence here also great vid keep it up
One thing I can say about Lyney is that I love him and respect him so much
As a traveller..I probably will put him a bit of trust as long as our goal aligned. Using and being used is not a new thing, anyway….
Archon’s gnosis? We may prolly help them in the process…
Gotta love that thumbnail! 😎
Kokichi Ouma looking kind of different huh
Shnezevich huh. I would not have guessed that he's a little Yugo.
Apologies won't take the bad out of the Fatui
@@doublesuicidemaniacthis, I don't know how people still don't accept that they are terrorist.
Lyney is a 5 star so there won't be a hangout
Childe saved traveller and straight up told them that they are 11th fatui harbinger. So why should he apologise when he never lied? At the end he was played around by Zhongli and Signora. So only apology is owed to Ningguang and Liyue citizens.
@@hr6439 and even then I think Zhongli is the one who actually owes them the biggest apology, especially to the families of those who died/were injured during the Osial and Beisht fights.
Great Video!
Maaaaan now I want to pull for Lyney 😔
someone predicted before fontaine that lyney will be a shady character, guess he's right lol
Snezhev Clan is Stagnating... But their legacy lives on. Not the other way around...
I will always love Lyney but I imagine if we ever cut ties with the Knave, he’ll have to put that first of course. But as long as that doesn’t come to happen, I will always be ready to journey with the magician, charismatic, or his true self.
you forget to edit duplicate line at 7:10
When Lynely speak about him probably having to take over the role of the caretaker for the orphanage after Arlecchino...I think he is under the impression that Arlecchino is a normal human but considering most of the Harbingers are people who do not have normal life spans, we cant assume Arlecchino is a normal human. So I doubt he will need to take over, but if Lynely one day have to take over the orphanage, I hope its of his own free will, and it will be free from the Fatuis clutches.
I love Lyney, he is lovely magic man. He just like me frfr
I say this as a big Lyney fan: No
great vid, the only thing snezhEvich would be more correct rather than sEzhevich, but eng genshin dub usually messes a lot russian spelling, stressing and pronunciation, so ig it's not big deal😭
Is that his real surname??
@@honbonroseyes and no, it’s not his REAL surname but it’s the surname given if your a male under the house of the hearth
wait, that's Lyney and Lynette's surname? where does that show up in game??? i always get so thrown off when we hear a playable character's surname and i wanna know moreeee
I seeee, interesting, thanks you two!
If he has to choose between us and his sister and he chooses us
I’m quittin the game
Ello this was private earlier for some reason
Aster, si paimon nung na meet natin sa simula ng game. Nalulunod at na fish lng ng traveller. How come na nakakausap nya si traveller underwater sa fontaine when only the traveler ung naka resonate sa Statue of the Seven? Food for thought😂
At this point, posibleng may power link si Paimon kay Traveler.
He is kinda sus... 😳😳😳
What if lyney is the 10th harbinger
Yes that's a good point but, Harvey Dent.. can we trust him??
He’s a Fatui; that’s all I needed to know to not trust him. I’m curious though on whether he truly understands the organization he belongs to and the many crimes that their responsible for
I feel like he does think he is doing so bad stuff and feels like the Knave is using him but he is too emotionally attached with Arlecchino being their saviour.
Kinda makes me wonder how it was such a great convenience timing wise that the nobles planning the human trafficking were killed of and now she had access to many kids that worshipped her as a saviour so she can train to be child soldiers?
wouldnt be surprised if the fatui sanitized the atrosities they have commited to the orphanage in order to make them look like the good guys
He deems it necessary for today’s fontaine to have some control over the inner working of fontaine to prevent any serious incidents from occuring,
And yes, i think he know what fatui are doing around the world as a whole.
HE IS AN OPPP
Lyney Snejnevich?😂 I imagine if there were last names like Sergei Russianovich😂
it's actually not a last name😭 More like a middle name (patronim, it's like if ur dad's name is Ivan then ur middle name will be Ivanovich (for guys) or Ivanovna (for girls), our last names usually end with ev/ov (for guys) and eva/ova (for girls)
@@grishasharpaev6361 да я знаю, я хз как на английском это сказать😂
Idc if he’s evil he’s cute
Umm don’t really matter since I basically don’t trust anyone in Genshin either, except my girl
Lyney says that magicians and thieves are different. However when the magician himself is the thief then wouldn't that make them one and the same?
(Headcanon: Lyney lies to myself saying that he's a magician to hide the fact he dealt in thievery before.)
I’m more interested in lynette than Lyney but this was a nice and interesting video.
I don’t care for him at the moment but if he does betray the traveler then I’ll be like yes! You go queen! Play that twink like a fiddle!
pansin ko na kay arlec na mas importante si lyney kaya di niya pinagamit yung delusion dahil alam niya yung epekto nito sa tao
Why is his surname slavic or russian idk
Hell no! But that doesn't matter
where is the clip at 5:27 from?
It's from Lyney or Lynette's demo, Idk which one.
Is Lyney still with the fatui?
How do yk his last name
What's the song name?
just curious, where did you find his last name?
Same I hope its not from false info like wiki
@@keefyboi5307from the official wiki (also from one of the world quests in the chasm, fatui quests related to HoH and so on). Children of the house of the hearth are given the name snezhevich and snezhevna (both meaning son/daughter of the snow) and it also ties them with snezhnaya
That's his last name?
He’s Fatui so that’s an easy NO.
wait...Snezhevich is his and lynette's last name?!
Is the surname for every male under the house, for Lynette is the female version (Don't know how to write)
@@geovanagama1 I dunno my Lyney and Lynette isn't up there in friend lvl yet so I didn't read the profile
Every orphan from the house of hearth is given a surname based on gender, the one Lyney has is masculine, while the feminine one is different though similar (this is explained in the Inazuma world quest with the fatui shrine maiden when Arlecchino was first mentioned)
you are pronouncing Snezhnevich without both N
qwq
I definitely don’t trust him.
genshin finally dares to give us more characters who aren't always such goody-two-shoes, which is a great thing
I'm just worried that the toxic community might make them cringe from making such bold moves again
I don't trust him. I'm still scared about the Linette's trick in the water tank. Maybe is something similar to The Prestige movie.
Pretty usre the only fatui we can kinda trust is Tartaglia
at first i really didn't like Lyney that much. i thought his reaction to his assistant dying was unrealistically ignorant and that his persona felt more like a pretentious trope than anything else, like he had one personality trait (similar to Raiden Shogun) which was being extremely edgy and predictable. however, after listening to all of his voicelines and watching this video I can appreciate the thought put into his character more and can tell that he's not just another edgy character for the sake of being edgy
Edgy? Explain pls /gen
He is not open about it at all
@@mob806 He is, since the first thing he did in his performance is give his and Lynette's Visions to someone else while saying that elemental powers will have nothing to do with what they are about to see.
I took it that its Lyney's romanticism, magic sounds grander than illusions after all.
It's because his character theme is about real life magic than fantasy one.
