People are calling her dumb & stupid for not understanding the contract & wanting to discuss it with her mom before signing it. For the record, most contracts are lengthy and technical, & most non-attorneys can't understand them. They shouldn't be signed without conferring with a lawyer (not the group's lawyer hired by Pebbles) that you hire to represent your individual interests. That was actually a smart move, especially when considering the legal and financial nightmare that happened to TLC a few years after their fame.
I don’t think she was ever offered a contract I believe everything TBoz said which was Pebbles told them she wasn’t keeping up in the group, and maybe she could sing but she just couldn’t keep up if you actually follow their career and see how they perform looking at crystal I don’t see her as being able to put on like Chilli I just don’t see it , and pebbles from the way the girls told it had some manipulative and conniving ways so maybe a combination of things that were never brought to crystals knowledge led to her to being dismissed people talk behind peoples back all the time...think about it sometimes when you get fired you don’t always have a clear understanding as to why you were fired and sometimes the person who fired you wasn’t even the person who wanted you gone so I think pebbles told them to get rid of her or the deal is off and that’s what they did. Crystal has 1 too many ppl contradicting her narrative of how it happened She said they never auditioned for L.A. Reid but L.A. said that they did and he said “Tionne and Lisa did their part and I was really impressed but then Crystal did her part and I said ok this just turned into a talent show” and 1 more thing if they were taken from up under Ian how can he speak to say if Crystal was offered a contract or not? Nobody wants to admit they failed so if she told herself all those years ago she didn’t make it in TLC because she refused the contract and never told a single soul what really happened she could’ve very much tricked herself into believing that

They want you to go along to get along and not question anything. @david cranson And they also lost everything, got sued by Pebbles, had to file for bankruptcy, etc. Even today, the surviving members of the group don't have nearly the net worth they deserve. The companies are the ones who really had windfalls. As long as she's not destitute and is making a good living doing whatever she does, I don't see it as a loss. She didn't let the industry exploit her talent like so many other young Black people get their talent exploited.
I believe Crystal and I also believe everything happens for a reason. Chilli was meant to be in TLC. I love that Crystal seems to be grounded and not bitter. She just kept it real. #TLCforever

After seeing everything that played out with TLC and Pebbles I too believe what Crystal is saying here. I think Pebbles possibly lied to T-boz and Left-eye about why crystal wasn't chosen to be in the group to keep them from thinking about what they were signing and what was getting ready to happen to them financially (crystal dodged that part) I still think it was meant for chili to be apart of the group instead but I think the truth needs to be on what really happened (I don't think T-boz or Left eye truly knew and never thought to really inquire with Crystal, they were just happy to have made it themselves not knowing what was coming!! This was crystal's first and last appearance on any show talking about the movie and TLC. She was asked to do the interview, she was mature and classy and she didn't throw any shade on TLC or pebbles. I believe her. If she was such a horrible singer and dancer, why did Tboz and lisa start a group with her? As honest as they are? Come on.. Crystal was smart for choosing not to sing. She wasn't there for all that and she would've been ridiculed had she sung anyway.

When TLC blew up after CSC, you didn't see crystal on oprah or ricki lake crying, talking about "that should've been me!". If she was trying to come up that would've been the time to make noise but she didn't, and I respect her for that.

Idk last time i signed a contract when i was 19 i ended up in the Marines and i dont regret it at all. Sometimes being aggressive pays off. Everyones saying tlc is broke and they went bankrupt but tlc is an entity the members themselves have net worths combined of 9 million plus with chillis being around 6 million. Think of it this way trumps casino went bankrupt...did donald trump go bankrupt, not to get political idgaf about politics just as an example. Tlc went bankrupt so the members wouldnt go broke
I am a huge TLC fan but I feel so sorry she missed out on this. Imagine for 30 years having to witness their success especially during the 90s when they were everywhere. Sad
The music industry is evil and wicked. I feel REAL success in art and business is making a comfortable profit. TLC were broke the whole time. All they got out of their career was fame. Fame and a loss of privacy with no money is not worth it to me. Also, Lisa died young at 31 in the jungles of Honduras running from that industry. I think Crystal dodged a bullet.
No video is worth 3 million dollars. AND, I bet TBoz and Lisa wish they had not signed that contract either. They spent most of their career BROKE because of it.
But they did gain from being famous. Chili and tboz were able to tour and were introduced to other sources of income, shows, movies... this girl, is unknown and doesn’t really matter. That's how Chilli built her estate in 1997, before that they had little to nothing. The movie wasn't accurate at all, when they quickly got rid of the 3 cars Pebbles bought in 1992. By 1994, for a BMW 3 (T-Boz), Lexus SC (Chilli), and another vehicle. They spent money in ways, that went beyond necessities after the first album promo ended in 1993.

You can't fit 20+ years in a 2 hour movie. For one things are going to have to be cut out. And for another thing keep in mind that this in Hollywood. Not everything is absolute truth. They have to appeal to their audience which means some not truths must be told instead. Her version wouldn't have been as "popular" as it was to see her "get kicked out".
I don't think it was MEANT to be betrayed that way. They had to make the scene altercation between 4-6mins. And maybe Tboz and Chili didn't understand it like that. After Crystal didn't sign the contract, maybe Pebbles told the other girls a whole 'nother story or talked about her to the girls after Crystal refuse to sign.

The movie was told the truth just a little and fabricated just a little because you can't put 20 years and to a 2-hour movie and the high school days that Crystal did with T-Boz and the late left eye into a 2-hour movie they just sped up the process a good thing for her she didn't signed it because as we all can recall being a TLC fan we're like number one on the R&B charts and Pop- charts but had nothing to show for it at one point in time

Y'all gotta understand that to truly make any movie based on a true story interesting, you have embellish a bit for entertainment, The sheer fact that Jermaine Dupri was COMPLETELY left out of the story is heinous. They lived with him off and on for 2 years recording their 2nd and 3rd albums.
The truth is: she was kicked out because she refused to sign a contract that she did not understand. I would have wanted my dad to read it first also. She did the right thing. I consider Pebbles to be a very smart lady. Smart as a fox, but smart, nonetheless.

The best thing to watch is VH1 Behind the Music - TLC - with interviews with all of the members. The movie didn't match what happened in Behind The Music.
Reality is this;she left the group because she thought it was the smart thing to do. So for her to be upset is pointless. Also if she is offended that they said she couldn't sing,why didn't she sing to set the record straight?
Well.... After seeing numerous past interviews with TLC on Behind The Music, interviews from the early 90's, and recent interviews.... T-Boz, Left-Eye, and Chilli story has been the same since. Now I believe that some parts of Crystal's story is true as well as T-Boz, Left-Eye, and LA Reid.... What I believe happened was: As Crystal and the movie said, T-Boz, Left-Eye, and Crystal auditioned for Pebbles... Pebbles did come up with the name "TLC (Tionna, Lisa, and Crystal)" and got it copyrighted (SWV was called TLC before they did, but they did not get the name "TLC" copyrighted soon enough)... By the time they auditioned for L.A. Reid, L.A. Reid, T-Boz, Lisa, and Pebbles kind of made it clear in multiple interviews and stories that Crystal wasn't a fit for the group that seems to be highly influenced by L.A. Reid (which he has stated in VH1's Behind The Music: TLC). After getting rid of Crystal from pressure from L.A. Reid to Pebbles to T-Boz & Left-Eye (T-Boz has recently stated that Pebbles kind of made T-Boz & Left-Eye realize that "1 group member" could mess it up for all. Crystal was kicked out the group by T-Boz & Left Eye. Moreover, T-Boz and Left-Eye appeared in Pebbles's music video for her single "Backyard feat Salt N Pepa" shot in early of 1991 after getting rid of Crystal, with the name TLC still signed to Pebbitone. The girls were signed to Pebbles management company "Pebbitone" in February of 1991 and Chilli was brought in by March 1991 and the group was complete. I highly doubt that Crystal was offered a contract before her musical talent was proven to Pebbles & L.A. Reid, otherwise the original "TLC" would still be here... Yours is the only accurate comment on here. The history is out there. Interviews, documentaries, etc. are all consistent from TLC's perspective. Gossipy types who like conspiracy theories are the only ones speculating. The guy conducting this interview doesn't seem to understand that movies are created for entertainment purposes. JD and other collaborators are left out of the film because this story isn't about them. It's a 2hr movie not a 5 part miniseries. Certain insignificant details have been left out or altered for entertainment purposes. Nobody ever said Crystal couldn't sing-- the writer and director did that to add comedy. She started the group 2nd Nature and got them in the door with Pebbles. Tionne, Lisa, and LA Reid said the chemistry was off and she wasn't a good performer. She could probably sing ok, but couldn't blow to where she could just stand there and do nothing while Tionne & Lisa were dancing their butts off. T & L consistently said they kicked Crystal out of her own group. The movie makes it look more like Pebbles did it, but T-Boz made the "2 can mess it up for 1" thing very clear. If it was Pebbles, they would have said it was Pebbles. All the info is out there. The wild thing about TLC is that people honestly would rather have had a 2-3 hour documentary than a movie. Not at all. That was a paraphrasing of similar quotes from Tionne, Lisa, and LA Reid. They have each said in interviews that Crystal was not much of a performer. They said she didn't have the charisma, stage presence, or chops to hold her own with Tionne and Lisa on stage. Have you seen her?
Pebbles manipulated the girls she knew she could by telling them they had to kick Crystal out the group.. they didn't know any better because they were young. Pebbles wanted her out the group cuz she didn't want her bogus contract to be discovered after she had her mom read it. Crystal didn't get the frame but she didn't have to go through all that stress the remaining members did to get out the contract and actually make some money.
LA Reid said himself, she was terrible years ago why they wanted her out the group. T-Boz said herself it was messed up how she and Lisa did her, by kicking her out of her own group.
Well if you understand human nature and the word greed, then you'll see big picture. The reason why she was kicked out was because of money. How would Reid look if he told the truth and she at 19 refused to sign the contract without her mother looking it over. Instead he said that she couldn't sing. I'm sure the girls and the other guy who was producing them didn't think so. The same reason why TLC was separated from the Company was money....because it eluded them too. That's why if they had united with this girl and say we are not signing until our mothers look it over, they wouldn't have to file for bankruptcy and someone would be watching their bank account, and they, not someone else, would be receiving checks every time their songs are played on the radio or TV.

I disagree with the movie when it came to crystal. Now there is a song and video that left-eye t-boz and her did. The group was called 2nd Nature because the girls weren't getting along. To put it off like that I believe it was wrong but you know ppl above you can twist your past and words
Of course there were many things in that horribly acted movie that were different then actual reality. Of course there are a lot of fans stanning so hard that they can't see things objectively. I'm sure if Left Eye was still alive she would have had a different perspective on some things and she definitely wouldn't have been portrayed as the drunken troublemaker. The only way we are going to get a more accurate TLC portrayal would be if a neutral party is involved.
@ Natasha first off this is a "biopic" not a biography. It appears that the movie (from other people associated with this group) that its not accurate in any shape or form and was made from the point of views of Razonda and Tionne. I didn't watch the movie so I cannot form an opinions about that, but apparently is says that Crystal Jones could not sing....the same statement could be said of Tionne and Rozanda.
These radio people are just full of it. My conclusion is if she refused to sign it resulted in Pebbles kicking her ass out the group. I don't understand the confusion about her portrayal in the movie. In the end she did not make the final cut her name was not on the dotted line.

Crystal's soul was saved by not being in that group. I hope she found the Lord through the process. We see what happened to poor Left Eye the dibs got her and she died young without knowing the Lord 😢
I knew it! I knew there was some1 before Chili but everyone kept telling me it was my imagination. I was 6yrs old when this mess happened. Over all this shit is sad. Left eye is dead and they're still bickering 20+years later. yes its messed up situation. its a mystery. no one wants to look bad in the public eye so we may never really know the full truth. However, they need to let Lisa rest in peace :(
It's so much negative feed back from people like her, pebbles, and left eyes family....they couldn't just tell the full no cut story they had to put something sweet and simple I'm glad they made a movie just wished that some of the stars wouldn't be disrespectful about the whole thing

In all actuality Miss Crystal Jones handled herself with class and dignity. I know many of you internet geniuses and gurus do not agree with me but you have to realize she was invited on the show to tell her side of the story. We all know that there are three sides to every story. Your side, my side, and the truth.
I believe her and she looks truthful telling it. Also, her story is borne out by the fact that the other girls came out and say that they were naïve and not treated fairly. Plus the fact that TLC filed for bankruptcy saying that they did not get much of the millions that their talent had earned. I know that the other side is saying that they spent a lot of money on all kinds of things but Tony Braxon did file for bankruptcy too. Here is the thing...if you go to Walmart and buy a bottle of aspirin you get 30 for $2 making it about 7 cents each. Try going to the hospital and they'll charge you $50 each for one the same aspirin.. Similarly, some people who manage these artists do likewise......a hotel room is $200 a night.....they pay the bill and charge the artist $2000 a night. These are young people, they are giddy, they are "stars" and are on TV and millions are watching them and fawning over them.....do you think that they are going to look at the details like how much for a limo to take them cross town? Most of the older artists have nothing to show for the millions they earned unless they wrote the songs. There is a famous story how this music producer credited his son with writing a song when his son wasn't even born when the song came out decades before. Listening to the interview and making these comments only show how ignorant these people all are in throwing this girl under the bus.
I believe Crystal is telling the truth. I worked in the music business in contract finance and the behind the scene deal making is insidious and downright evil sometimes. Pebbles knew about "slave" royalty rates because she got screwed as a singer by management herself. As a producer, she knew how to flip the script and gave TLC very low royalty rates because if they were unsuccessful, she was not going to be able to ask back the advance she laid out on the threesome. That is the business of music, folks. Pebbles is over exaggerating her role in the creative piece but she took the promotional risk and got compensated for it. TLC should have renegotiated their royalty rates after the second album but probably had ineffective lawyers on their team being so young and inexperienced.
TLC was Crystal's group from the onset that she founded by herself, she put an ad in the paper for singers and vocalist to audition to form a girl trio group that's how Lisa,and T-boz and Crystal came together it was never Pebbles finding these girls are Jermaine Dupri, their name wasn't TLC at first it was called 2nd nature, Crystal could sing but just like in any trio you have lead singers and background vocals, like in SWV, 702, 3LW, Crystal was smart not to sign contract papers without your own attorney present and that's why she was kicked out of her own group she founded, L.A. and Pebbles told the other girls either sign are not, they signed and Pebbles fired Crystal, if you don't have talent are your voice is weak you wouldn't get any type of meeting with platinum artist like Pebbles, and L.A. Good Morning You're speaking facts. Pebbles did an interview in 2011 and was asked about Crystal. Pebbles said that Crystal was talented and had a great voice and good looks but her voice and looks wasn't strong enough for the group. Pebbles in a way disputes her ex-husband's claims of him telling T-Boz and Left-Eye that she needed to go due to Crystal's quote on quote lack of talent. I don't blame Crystal for not signing the contract without having her mother and an attorney looking over it. Prior to forming the group, Crystal had performed with other rappers and singers when he was in high school and they along with her mother taught her about the business and the importance of having an attorney look over contracts and being that Crystal was a young female who knew about the industry scared Pebbles and LA Reid who realized that they couldn't get over on her
I got to give it to Crystal for not signing anything that she didn't understand. That's how these artists get ripped off. You have to review and understand it first. Know what you're getting yourself into. That's what TLC didn't do, that's what Toni Braxton didn't do. That's how these record companies get over on you.

Most artists will sing a bum contract just so they can been seen in the hopes that will become big stars and the money will come down the line. That happens for 1 in 500 artists at best, so a lot of them get ripped off. Most people are happy with 15 minutes of fame, and this is why you have such sad stories as this. I was in a group so I can speak from personal experience.
Raslady2 I get what you saying but the movie didn’t revolve around her it was the actual group and being that she didn’t end up in the group so that long she was only in the movie for a few lil minutes
A lot of people who signed recording contracts were ripped off just look at most of the artists from Motown. I think the entertainment industry is nothing but a bunch of crooks.
I have to say Crystal she was very polite about the movie unlike Pebbles and her daughter. She said kindly that she was disappointed by how she was betrayal in the movie, but she didn't go all crazy and want to sue. And i do feel bad for her and it's nothing against Chilli because TLC wouldn't be the same with out Left-eye, T-boz, and Chilli. Everyone is telling her to get over it because it's been 20 years she wasn't the one who brought it up. She was living her life and then this movie came out.
I just don't know why people would think Crystal would lie and only wants her 15 minutes of fame. Crystal is 40 something years old and I'm sure she knows that it's not likely she's going to have a big singing career at this point. She probably feels that if they are going to tell their story then tell it right. If T-Boz and Chili (and Pebbles too) are going to lie about this of all things, it makes me wonder what else they are misrepresenting or embellishing to make themselves look good.
First off...I did NOT WATCH the movie...so I don't know anything about what it was about or what was portrayed. But as a fan familiar with TLC the group started BECAUSE Crystal, who was a talented teenage artist but out word that in Atlanta she was starting a group and picked Tionne and Lisa. And it didn't work out. So she is relevant causr without her there would be no connection with Tionne and Lisa.

I really respect Crystal and her view and perspective on the situation. I know she's not in the industry....which might be for the better but praying she is prosperous in life.
If Crystal signed the contract (like an idiots) with no parents involved she would have been a part of the biggest super group out there but she would have broke as hell like the other 2 and waisting her time to do reality shows to stay relevant and make money. At 18 she was a very smart young woman NOT To SIGN WITH Pebbles. Pebbles knew the contract was garbage and just wanted to make money off the 3 cause they were young and inexperienced.
On the flipside, they got to live their dream. They got to experience everything they wanted to. And to be honest those girls would have done anything at that moment. They were all living very cash-strapped lives beforehand. The risk paid off for them in the end, I'm just sad that Lisa didn't get to see the TLC journey all the way through.

Eriq I disagree because while signing with Pebbles didn't seem to work out for TLC, it DOESN"T mean that Pebbles was a bad businesswoman. It just means the girls weren't paying attention to WHO should help their lives unfold as artists.

If Crystal was as bad as she was portrayed in the movie, she never would have been asked to sign a contract period! Crystal was smart, I guess tlc should hv did the same thing because they were in a bad contract. They expressed that at award ceremony. I believe Crystal and loyalty to me is everything. But it just wasn't meant to be. I'm glad her and Lisa got a chance to reconcile before she passed 😢

I can understand her frustration about losing "her" group. Totally get it. But Crystal is right about one thing: it is TLC's version of how THEY perceived things. Exactly and again it may have been a blessing disguise for Crystal. It showed TLC went through lots of shit. Lots of success became lots of disappointments. It's kind of sad that the group & VH-1 did her dirty like that. People are calling her dumb & stupid for not understanding the contract & wanting to discuss it with her mom before signing it. For the record, most contracts are lengthy and technical, & most non-attorneys can't understand them. They shouldn't be signed without conferring with a lawyer (not the group's lawyer hired by Pebbles) that you hire to represent your individual interests. That was actually a smart move, especially when considering the legal and financial nightmare that happened to TLC a few years after their fame.

This was crystal's first and last appearance on any show talking about the movie and TLC. She was asked to do the interview, she was mature and classy and she didn't throw any shade on TLC or pebbles. I believe her. They have to appeal to their audience which means some not truths must be told instead. Her version wouldn't have been as "popular" as it was to see her "get kicked out".

The best thing to watch is VH1 Behind the Music - TLC - with interviews with all of the members. The movie didn't match what happened in Behind The Music.

Well.... After seeing numerous past interviews with TLC on Behind The Music, interviews from the early 90's, and recent interviews.... T-Boz, Left-Eye, and Chilli story has been the same since. Now I believe that some parts of Crystal's story is true as well as T-Boz, Left-Eye, and LA Reid.... What I believe happened was: As Crystal and the movie said, T-Boz, Left-Eye, and Crystal auditioned for Pebbles... Pebbles did come up with the name "TLC (Tionna, Lisa, and Crystal)" and got it copyrighted (SWV was called TLC before they did, but they did not get the name "TLC" copyrighted soon enough)... By the time they auditioned for L.A. Reid, L.A. Reid, T-Boz, Lisa, and Pebbles kind of made it clear in multiple interviews and stories that Crystal wasn't a fit for the group that seems to be highly influenced by L.A. Reid (which he has stated in VH1's Behind The Music: TLC). After getting rid of Crystal from pressure from L.A. Reid to Pebbles to T-Boz & Left-Eye (T-Boz has recently stated that Pebbles kind of made T-Boz & Left-Eye realize that "1 group member" could mess it up for all. Crystal was kicked out the group by T-Boz & Left Eye.
Moreover, T-Boz and Left-Eye appeared in Pebbles's music video for her single
"Backyard feat Salt N Pepa" shot in early of 1991 after getting rid of Crystal, with the name TLC still signed to Pebbitone. The girls were signed to Pebbles management company "Pebbitone" in February of 1991 and Chilli was brought in by March 1991 and the group was complete.
I highly doubt that Crystal was offered a contract before her musical talent was proven to Pebbles & L.A. Reid, otherwise the original "TLC" would still be here... Gossipy types who like conspiracy theories are the only ones speculating. The guy conducting this interview doesn't seem to understand that movies are created for entertainment purposes. JD and other collaborators are left out of the film because this story isn't about them. It's a 2hr movie not a 5 part miniseries. Certain insignificant details have been left out or altered for entertainment purposes. Nobody ever said Crystal couldn't sing-- the writer and director did that to add comedy. She started the group 2nd Nature and got them in the door with Pebbles. Tionne, Lisa, and LA Reid said the chemistry was off and she wasn't a good performer. She could probably sing ok, but couldn't blow to where she could just stand there and do nothing while Tionne & Lisa were dancing their butts off. Of course there were many things in that horribly acted movie that were different then actual reality. Of course there are a lot of fans stanning so hard that they can't see things objectively. I'm sure if Left Eye was still alive she would have had a different perspective on some things and she definitely wouldn't have been portrayed as the drunken troublemaker. It appears that the movie (from other people associated with this group) that its not accurate in any shape or form and was made from the point of views of Razonda and Tionne. I didn't watch the movie so I cannot form an opinions about that, but apparently is says that Crystal Jones could not sing....the same statement could be said of Tionne and Rozanda.

Left eye is dead and they're still bickering 20+years later. yes its messed up situation. its a mystery. no one wants to look bad in the public eye so we may never really know the full truth. In all actuality Miss Crystal Jones handled herself with class and dignity. I know many of you internet geniuses and gurus do not agree with me but you have to realize she was invited on the show to tell her side of the story. We all know that there are three sides to every story. Your side, my side, and the truth.
I believe her and she looks truthful telling it. Also, her story is borne out by the fact that the other girls came out and say that they were naïve and not treated fairly. Plus the fact that TLC filed for bankruptcy saying that they did not get much of the millions that their talent had earned.
I know that the other side is saying that they spent a lot of money on all kinds of things but Tony Braxon did file for bankruptcy too. Here is the thing...if you go to Walmart and buy a bottle of aspirin you get 30 for $2 making it about 7 cents each. Try going to the hospital and they'll charge you $50 each for one the same aspirin..
Similarly, some people who manage these artists do likewise......a hotel room is $200 a night.....they pay the bill and charge the artist $2000 a night. These are young people, they are giddy, they are "stars" and are on TV and millions are watching them and fawning over them.....do you think that they are going to look at the details like how much for a limo to take them cross town?
Most of the older artists have nothing to show for the millions they earned unless they wrote the songs. There is a famous story how this music producer credited his son with writing a song when his son wasn't even born when the song came out decades before.
Listening to the interview and making these comments only show how ignorant these people all are in throwing this girl under the bus.
I believe Crystal is telling the truth. I worked in the music business in contract finance and the behind the scene deal making is insidious and downright evil sometimes. Pebbles knew about "slave" royalty rates because she got screwed as a singer by management herself. As a producer, she knew how to flip the script and gave TLC very low royalty rates because if they were unsuccessful, she was not going to be able to ask back the advance she laid out on the threesome. That is the business of music, folks. Pebbles is over exaggerating her role in the creative piece but she took the promotional risk and got compensated for it. TLC should have renegotiated their royalty rates after the second album but probably had ineffective lawyers on their team being so young and inexperienced.

That happens for 1 in 500 artists at best, so a lot of them get ripped off. Most people are happy with 15 minutes of fame, and this is why you have such sad stories as this. I was in a group so I can speak from personal experience.

I have to say Crystal she was very polite about the movie unlike Pebbles and her daughter. She said kindly that she was disappointed by how she was betrayal in the movie, but she didn't go all crazy and want to sue. And i do feel bad for her and it's nothing against Chilli because TLC wouldn't be the same with out Left-eye, T-boz, and Chilli. Everyone is telling her to get over it because it's been 20 years she wasn't the one who brought it up. She was living her life and then this movie came out.
I just don't know why people would think Crystal would lie and only wants her 15 minutes of fame. Crystal is 40 something years old and I'm sure she knows that it's not likely she's going to have a big singing career at this point. She probably feels that if they are going to tell their story then tell it right. If T-Boz and Chili (and Pebbles too) are going to lie about this of all things, it makes me wonder what else they are misrepresenting or embellishing to make themselves look good.
First off...I did NOT WATCH the movie...so I don't know anything about what it was about or what was portrayed. But as a fan familiar with TLC the group started BECAUSE Crystal, who was a talented teenage artist but out word that in Atlanta she was starting a group and picked Tionne and Lisa. And it didn't work out. So she is relevant causr without her there would be no connection with Tionne and Lisa.
Ok so the common denominator in this story is that pebbles gave these girls very screwy contracts.
Right my thing is IF THE CONTRACT WAS AN HONEST CONTRACT why not let her mom see it.... If they all would have did what crystal did TLC would be a whole new group but by tboz & Lisa ready to get money

I know she's not in the industry....which might be for the better but praying she is prosperous in life.
If Crystal signed the contract (like an idiots) with no parents involved she would have been a part of the biggest super group out there but she would have broke as hell like the other 2 and waisting her time to do reality shows to stay relevant and make money. At 18 she was a very smart young woman NOT To SIGN WITH Pebbles. Pebbles knew the contract was garbage and just wanted to make money off the 3 cause they were young and inexperienced.
On the flipside, they got to live their dream. They got to experience everything they wanted to. And to be honest those girls would have done anything at that moment. They were all living very cash-strapped lives beforehand. The risk paid off for them in the end, I'm just sad that Lisa didn't get to see the TLC journey all the way through.
@@GARYDOS they sold their souls and will always have to pay and split royalty checks for the rest of their lives. They got the fame but had to pay a heavy price for it all.. look what happened to Lisa. The industry screwed her around and caused her to deal with demons up until that tragic accident.
Eriq I disagree because while signing with Pebbles didn't seem to work out for TLC, it DOESN"T mean that Pebbles was a bad businesswoman. It just means the girls weren't paying attention to WHO should help their lives unfold as artists.
By TLC being cheated with less pay, was it even worth Crystal being in the group?
I know a lot of TLC stans think Crystal is bitter but I actually think she is telling the truth & neither Pebbles nor TLC are being completely forthcoming. If Crystal was as bad as she was portrayed in the movie, she never would have been asked to sign a contract period! In reality Crystal was the smart one and the only one that actually questioned the contract. Obviously, they didn't want it known that the ousted member was the one with sense so they made it seem like she was a horrible singer.
I don't know why people think you can fit every small detail in a movie about TLC. The movie was excellent. The actors were excellent. When TLC came out when didn't know anything about Crystal. So why would the movie tell her story??? She is lucky she was mentioned! FACT OF THE MATTER IS YOU CANNOT PUT 20YEARS IN 2HRS! Should be upset because we dint get to see T-Boz marry Mack 10??? Like seriously people!!!

I've never seen the movie or even heard of this other supposed member but from the looks of it I'm glad she didn't make it in the group... the chemistry of TLC is from the hand of G-d, you can't take that away.

I can understand her frustration about losing "her" group. Totally get it. But Crystal is right about one thing: it is TLC's version of how THEY perceived things. If Pebbles and Crystal want to make a show about how they perceived it, I'm sure TLC would come out and say they were wrong too. Just let it be...

Exactly and again it may have been a blessing disguise for Crystal. It showed TLC went through lots of shit. Lots of success became lots of disappointments. It's kind of sad that the group & VH-1 did her dirty like that. Well thing is for certain, everyone is telling the same story about how shady Pebbles was, she can't top Diddy(the main shadiest one in the music industry) but she's now up there with Diddy, Suge & Jay-Z as a person you can't trust.

Secondly Crystal Jones has NEVER mentioned anything or tried to made money off her being the person who actually started the group. If she wanted to make money off the TLC name she would have done so years ago. I think she's mad (and hasa right to be) upset about the fact at how she was portrayed in the film. And as her former produder mentioned in the other V103 video she did have talent as he that then and now. And he always mentioned the TLC was not a traditional girl group and its focus was never on singing.
The girl isn't lying,she's just confused as to why she was kicked out.True,maybe she refused to sign the MANAGERIAL contract with Pebbles but she wasn't kicked out right then and their.They auditioned formal LA Reid and he thought she had no talent.Which I believe because when Pink auditioned for LA Face in front of LA Reod,she auditioned with a group and he told her to go solo or go home.So clearly he identify's talent while Pebbles didn't like her because she knew Crystal knew the contract where BS.Either way,she had to go because her talent wasn't matching T-Boz and Lisa's so they went to her house and kicked her out. now she needs to get over it,it's been 20 years,damn!
