    This is so relevant to my life! In my family did NOT talk about money so it felt taboo, like we didn’t have it, and like a lavish lifestyle/having money etc was totally unattainable! So love this ❤❤

    13:19 just wanted to note that I also thought buying a car was not considered an emergency, so I felt guilty using some of my emergency to purchase a car after my old car got totaled. I was watching Aja Dangs video about emergency funds and she said “if you need your car for work then that IS an emergency and that’s what it’s there for!” Which made me realize that buying a car (for me personally) was an emergency because I use it to get to and from work and to buy groceries, give my mom rides, etc. it’s ok to have used your emergency fund for that Zoe :)

    My goal is to what 'enough' is -- both financially and emotionally. Understanding this helps me invest and save with better purpose while at the same time not feeling guilty when I spend money on things that make me and my family happy. This is why tracking finances is so important!

    One of my biggest and most time sensitive goals is to move into my own apartment in Chicago this summer, and budgeting for this change. I've been living at home and saving the majority of my paychecks, and I know moving out and adding on expenses with rent and utility bills will be an adjustment. Having either of these budgeting tools would be a big help!

    Zoe, loving the money moves!!! Amazing job! I am also self-employed & this year for taxes I saved $14,000 more than I owed & it felt so good to not freak out about my taxes! The book Profit First is how I made that happen. I think that the money managing method discussed in that book is GOLD! + You'd still be able to do cash envelopes, I do! Anyway, love the channel, keep up the good work!

    My financial goal is similar to yours. I want to not be afraid of my finances. I feel like it’s easy to not look at them and let things auto pay without actually having a good visual understanding of what’s happening. The digital tracker would be so helpful to actually start documenting everything and be able to see visually where I am as well as see myself working towards those goals.

This goal really matters to me because I will be moving to a new city (also Ottawa!) and want to be able to comfortably afford rent while enjoying life in a new city. Job hunting has been a long, intense and sometimes overwhelming process, but I haven't given up hope.

    Another goal you could add for a longer term is a Maggie emergency fund of $5k so you always have a backup if something happens. I’m working on that for my pup and works as a sinking fund for yearly appointments and biannual med purchases. I also keep any savings above my “one month ahead” or smaller quick access savings in a high yield savings account.

    Hey. I’m wondering why you wouldn’t pay off the credit line (which cost you interest) instead is saving money for emergencies and such. You can always use the credit line for emergencies if that comes up before you save up more money. That way you are saving all the interest from the balance on credit line!

    • @ZoePritchard
      @ZoePritchard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I just paid it off for that reason :) But in the beginning, the insurance cost (which was on the line of credit) would have drained my savings and I didn't want that. Although it makes sense to save on the interest, emotionally I wanted to still have some savings.

    Just a thing about you using your line of credit to pay off a credit card. yes, a line of credit has lower interest but the line of credit accrues interest daily, while credit card is monthly. so if you pay something on your credit card, and pay it before the due date, you essentially have 0% interest. but if you use your line of credit to pay it off, and don't pay off the line of credit until a few days later, technically you're losing money as the interest is already happening per day

    • @ZoePritchard
      @ZoePritchard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I would only transfer the balance if I couldn't pay off the cc in time

  • @KourttneyL

    For the car loan, it really just depends on your specific living situation. IF you can “let it ride” and pay it off monthly with no worries, then Sure. Go ahead. If you don’t want to then you can pay it off earlier.

    I wanna thank you for this content and the way that you talk about this themes.

    1 of my financial goals is to build up to a 10,000$ emergency fund, then start a different account to start saving for grad school next fall. The cash envelopes would help me to spend less money on eating out (oops)
