Best modeling and c4d related channel in TH-cam. You teach each and every bit of modeling techniques on the market by building product designs and others with clear explanations. Thank you very much for your efforts. I learned subd modeling by watching your videos. Now I feel like I can do anything I imagine. Perhaps you should also concentrate on some animation tutorials as well (if animation is the thing you also know, of course).
Thank you so much for this! Xray & backface culling tip was so helpful. The smoothing and shrink wrap deformer technique is better than using the iron/Smooth brush for relaxing topology.
You are a king!! Also been looking for this for a long time! I saw Maya people doing retopo very similar to this. And.. the doodle tool I didn’t know if it’s existence.
@@polygonpen That's true and very tough also. It can be a paid course obviuously because time is money. I think pepole like your modeling style. I'm very excited to be honest.
@@EasirVfx I am thinking about that actually , after uploading this month's premium paid tutorial, I will make a car tutorial, probably only exterior though.

Hi I am so glad for this tutorial as I asked about it a whiiiile back when you chanel was at like 5 K subs. Very very very awesome work only chanel I know is so dedicated to 4D and its workload and flow. I will sub to your patron to later this month.
With MAX and Maya constantly improving their Auto retopo and non destructive solutions, they already made C4d archaic in terms of modeling. There are a couple of low level tools that feels better than Max ones (not Maya though) but that's it
@@polygonpen But if your bread and butter is modeling, then I will not put my hopes or invest too much time in C4d, no matter how pretty and user friendly it is. A very powerful and well integrated modifier based booleans and Arrays plus other modeling improvements are already in beta for MAX and they have an actual public roadmap where you can see the ficus is on modeling and asset creation. Blender and C4d seem to invest now in this strictly procedural node workflow while neglecting traditional modeling.
@@orphydiancg7759 Yeah, Cinema will probably focus on precedural modeling tools, actually it has lots of nodes waiting to be explored, but as you said they also should focus on traditional modeling tools.
Thanks for the tutorial. I'm using a newer version of Cinema 4D and it doesn't work properly. For some reason, the polygon pen is selecting the polygons of the back of the geometry and it doesn't create a new layer .. it just sticks to the original geometry. Is there any other tutorial that uses the new version?
Thank you, I believe you problem is not about the version, the tool hasn't changed a bit for years so before creating a new object, click away in the object manager to deselect everything and then use the polygonpen tool, this is going to create a new object.
Thank again for another amazing tutorial! How do you make sure your retop mesh lies on top of the high poly mesh? I can't seem to make the new mesh over the high poly
Was the high poly made in ZBrush (dynamesh?)? Would love to see you make a Zbrush to Cinema 4D workflow (rigging ready) video. Your videos are amazing. You describe things so clearly and beginner-friendly!
@@polygonpen Ok, that helped -thanks! I think I heard you say that in the video, but I just had not "deselected the object enough"!! Hovering the cursor over the object manager and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+A deselected the obejct.

is there no workflow where you could live mirror what you were doing to the other side with symmetry?
The objects is asymmetric, so you can not use symmetry.

Why not use Symmetry for the other half of the model?
Object is not symmetrical, left and right side are not identical, if so you can use symmetry of course!
