Burundi was hit by a refugee crisis from Rwanda but it didn't go to war. Burundi's president was assassinated alongside with Rwanda's president as they flew on the same airplane. Burundi saw its own ethnic violence a year prior in 1993 but it wasn't genocide, rather it spontaneously bursted out between both Hutus and Tutsis and the violence was two sided.

I think it's one of the reasons Burundi is still not at peace and far from really development ( actually I think it's a timing bomb the situation there , another Genocide against Tutsi of Burundi now might happen judging the actual situation bcz the world never took really lessons; my opinion & analyse

Unfortunately we cannot count on the united nations, they fail in several conflicts in the world, they are unable to bring peace and security. Look at the situation in Syria, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Sudan and so on. In the case of Burundi, although the current government is Hutu, they will think 10 times before wanting to do something stupid. Things have changed a lot since 1994. I wish peace for Burundi.
