    I love this video. Kudos to all of these students! They are examples of what we all want our black children to strive for in the future and that is a true sense of self and how to avoid breaking under pressure. I didn’t attend Princeton but I did attend a university that was predominately white and I was constantly reminded that I was NOT white. The comments that were made and the actions of several students was annoying and sad. how people behaved. I ignored them though and stayed focused on getting through the program. Retention is a huge problem on campuses like this.
    Thanks for the video

    Parents and students need to get their moneys back from these universities... Your formal education is supposed to prepare you for the real world not shelter you from it!

    Boring and dated comments by people mad because they didn’t qualify via merit or any other method to get into this or any competitive university. I’m glad your parents gave you an excuse. Wonder why nobody has posted recently about the long history of people paying to be there? Affirmative Action- you should look up the definition before you use the term. Bless your hearts 🥰

      I know you’re a troll so I won’t waste much time. But 1) affirmative action benefits white women more than any group in this country. 2) I don’t understand why so many of y’all have problems with kids wanting to feel comfortable and school while getting a good education. It honestly baffles my mind how apathetic some of you are.

      lisa mac yeah that is absolutely correct but at the same time you’re kind of diminishing their problems because they chose to go to a certain school that wasn’t very diverse for educational purposes.

    I agree with the dude at 4:10, there shouldn't be any racially segregated areas on Campus, all students of all races/backgrounds should hang together.

  • @MohseenLala
    @MohseenLala 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Do a being White, Asian, Latino and Arab videos series next, I'm sure every race comes with its own challengers and opportunities. Also, why fight for non-racially segregated higher education if you're just going to cry about being at a place that doesn't racially represent you? Go to a black college if you're so offended by the portraits on the wall and stop whining.

      @@malachibyrd3851 Stating that these people who are pro "affinity spaces" are helping a college be inclusive is fucking stupid. Could you imagine white safe spaces or a white student Union? Black student unions are as racist as what white student unions would be..

      logicone No they are not - false equivalency. Black student society are not racist. They are minority interest group. Sure the better term would be African American. No one would complain about say Polish student union - white and minority interest group.

      So much ignorance in these comments. Take a history class and get back to me, Mr. "Not everything was built by slaves." Tell me @logicone, @Arusiek90, @Mohseen Lala: what do you know about Reconstruction, redlining, or the Great Migration? What do you know about the Tuskegee syphilis experiments? What do you know about the Black Panther Party and COINTELPRO? Did you know the the United States occupied Haiti from 1915-1934? Can you explain the significance of the Thirteenth Amendment, or the War on Drugs, or gerrymandering?
      If you don't know Black history, you shouldn't feel so qualified to speak about Black people.

      One more thing: there are plenty of spaces that are effectively all-white and no one says shit about it. Look at 75% of the eating clubs at Princeton, or the finals clubs at Harvard, or the fraternities at Dartmouth.

    The privileged 1% of America. Out of millions of Americans who are unable to attend ivy league universities for innumerable reasons, though primarily socio-economic, still they complain about the gift that has been bestowed on them. It's the right tact to take, if you wish to finalize their education by instilling in them a sense of narcissistic victimhood.

      mrquicky *yawns at fake statistics* I’m referring to racist policies in policing, housing, employment, criminal justice, and education. Affirmative Action is not for Black people and even the few that benefit from it doesn’t invalidate the decades of underfunded and under supported urban school systems ON TOP OF racist admissions in higher education. Hit me when you’re actually ready to talk about that before you deflect again
