Thank you so much for all your help and crafting ideas. I've had a booth at craft fairs for two years now, the 1st was great, the 2nd what a flop. I could not understand why. Well watching your videos I have come to learn that people love cute and inexpensive products. So ever since my last show last year, I have been working on products that are cute and are $5 and under. Oh I have pricey items too, but. Thanks again for you all your advice and crafting ideas. Best wishes to you and your family's craft fairs. Happy Crafting.
I would add to the nice gift bag idea, have some business cards with a hole punched in them, which you can thread the ribbon through. Not only are they drawing attention because the bag is nice, but they can share your business info with people as well!
Better yet, make a sticker of your logo and name to put on each gift bag. Decorated gift bags are great, but without your name it doesn't advertise you. Great tips!
Thanks for great tips which always help. We stamped white and tan paper bags with fall leaves for some craft fairs and Christmas ideas on others, had people comment or come to our booth and say oh this where the cute bags came from! It really does make a difference on the packaging, your always helpful. Thanks again and again!
I hope everyone pays attention to your tips...they are so right. I owned a large gift shop, actually between my husband and me, we owned two large gift shops in the same town, on opposite ends of town. When we bought multiples of any item, they sold and sold and sold...until down to the last one. No one would buy the last one of anything. So odd. People want to have choices! For some reason people will stand and look over, say 20 of the same teddy bear, and choose the one they like the best! (all the same teddy bear)....but that last lonely teddy bear just didn't sell. So, lots of inventory, even if it is the same product, is the way to sell! Love you and your videos!! :o)
I just had a craft show this past Saturday. I make my own gift bags, small bags.. With my name on the bags. I also purchase 6ft black table too. That came out great too. I made alot pf things not overpowering the table.. You are giving great tips:) Im already doing them. I put a business card inside the bags! I accept credit cards I got 50 bucks from last Saturday!!
I love your number one and number two tips the most. I love to get my paid for items in a nice gift bag. Also I never have cash and love it when vendors accept cards.
Thank you so much for all of this extremely useful advice, I have two Christmas craft fairs booked this year and they will be my 1st & 2nd ever! Your advice and all of the lovely ladies who have added advice in the comments section, are very valuable to me, so so so helpful, I will certainly be following all of your advice! thank you! x
It is so helpful to have tips from someone who actually has experience in craft shows. We can profit (pun intended) from these for sure. I love your packaging ideas. Wrapping the items in tissue paper is fairly standard, but leaving one end longer allowing it to peek out of the top of the bag is genius.
Hi Amber, thanks for these very important tips. I totally agree with tip #1. I have noticed a big difference this year in sales by finally getting the square system... U have to admit that I lack with tip #2. I pack in plain lunch bags but would never use wrinkly grocery bags. Too bad I missed this video when you originally released it. I only have one more fair but will definitely take better care in packaging my creations! Thank you!
Thank you so much for all of these tips! My first fair is tomorrow. I have followed your advice, and appreciate your generosity. I also appreciate the advice I've read in the comments, too.
Great tips ... I had one little add ... you showed the couple walking with the pretty bags advertising but what ... I have a stamp that has my business name and love & blessings Traci ... I use it on all my bags . Love your work
Would you consider doing a video on how to interact with customers. Do you leave them alone or do you try and engage them in conversation. I never know what to do.
As a shopper...I personally really dislike when the vendor talks to me the entire time, trying to get me to purchase something. I would like a friendly hello and then be left to shop. If I have a question, I’d of course want it answered, but I like to shop without them promoting their items verbally the entire time. So, that’s exactly what I do...I give them a warm and friendly “hello” and then let them shop away. You can kind of tell if they are confused about something or have a question...and then I would chime in and say something to offer assistance, but otherwise I let them be. Hope that helps! xo Amber
@Stichopia Lyriclover810 gave excellent advice and I would like to add something to it. Years ago when I attended a craft fair as a buyer, I saw a necklace that I wanted to buy but because it wasn't priced I had to ask for the price. The lady selling the necklace was heavily engaged with 2 other costumers who clearly didn't want to buy. I could tell they wanted to move on to other boots but the seller kept trying to persuade them into buying her 'beautifully crafted, high quality items'' as she called them. After 10 minutes of waiting I gave up and walked away and so did the other 2 costumers. Bottom line, the lady didn't make a sale to any of us because she was too busy promoting her items and completely ignored me, a potential buyer, in the process.
Thanks for these great tips Amber! My first craft fair is next Saturday. I’ve been reading some horror stories about vendors having issues with credit cards such as customers buying lots of items then later disputing the charges snd the vendor is out of luck. So sad. However……everything I read says you will lose too many sales if you don’t take credit cards. So like you, I will be offering Square and PayPal Here. I’ll say a prayer and hope for the best!!! Thanks again for this helpful video!! 🌷Tina🌷
The gift bag idea is amazing!!! I always recycle gift bags so it’s perfect for someone like me to reuse. Thank you! I love all of your ideas!! You are amazing!!!!😍
Amber, I am a new subscriber and I have to tell you I love all good videos ! You have given me so many ideas and tips!!! You are a wonderful inspiration!!! Thanks so much!!!!
The big local festival is this weekend. Not looking forward to the hauling. I am able to set up on the sidewalk in front of the store where I consign. I have a portable wagon and put my folding table in it along with inventory. I make dollar ornaments to get people to my table. Love the packaging! I use lunch sacks and edge them with fancy scissors and raffia. 50 for 1$ yes mam!!!!
Great video! Thank you so much! I have a question about booth location. Where would you say the best place to be placed and is there spots you want to try to stay away from?
Thanks for your wonderful tips! I learn so much from you with each new video. Your display is definitely inviting. We do a couple of shows where they dictate the color of table cloths and main themes they want used, (red or green only for Christmas) Which is ok because we usually do quite well at these shows. That being said, I have to go with more neutral colors but rather brighten my tables small prop items. The only problem is people always want to buy them even if they say For display only, not for sale. Thanks again for your experiences and ideas.
I love your videos and all the great ideas you share. These are very useful tips. It’s so helpful to be able to learn from other people’s experiences. I always look forward to your videos and have used many of you ideas. Thanks so much for sharing!
Another tip. At some fairs you pay significantly for your space so make the most of it!. Notice all the stalls with a blank space behind them. Use it for product examples and promotion, terms of business if important, special features etc. Make it sleek and attractive. People will remember you.
I put my business card staple it to my bag on outside so if someone ask the person WHERE did you but that they can just show them the card FYI I love your tips and I LOVE your Channel girl
Thank you for your informative videos, I appreciate you sharing what you know with us! What I add to the bags (all of them) I use is a "sticker" that I print with my logo/name/fb address, etc. that way customers are really advertising your products!
On one of your recent videos where you showed your booth set up, I noticed a little sign saying you accept credit cards. Have been meaning to ask you what you use. Sometimes procrastination pays off - lol. Thanks for sharing your time-tested tips.
thanks for the great tips!! I have to say that you are so right about the packaging!! Love your videos!! And of course, love you and your sweet family!! God bless!
Hi Amber.. tha thank you for the tips. I'm a new crafter and I have a question when doing craft fairs do you need licenses? If yes what do you need to sell crafts?
Thanks! It depends on the organization putting on the craft fair. It also differs state by state. For mine, I have to have a business license for 1 of my craft fairs. It’s a very easy process for the state I live in. You can go online and check the law for your state. Also, a great idea would be to reach out to the person organizing your craft fair. They will be able to advise you. :) Amber
AWESOME TIPS! Thank you so much for putting this video together and sharing it Amber. It means a lot to us crafters. You learn from mistakes and if someone has already learned then by all means share the info. Thanks again. Great job! God bless ❤ XOXO
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for you advice and suggestions. I've learned so much from both you and your sister as well as from many talented people here on TH-cam. I will be doing my very first craft fair. I'm both excited and nervous ... 🌻🐝Happy Thanksgiving, Be Blessed, Amen!!!
Great tips. The only one I don't use is the credit cards/paypal. Do you add the added fee to use their cards? I know people usually ask me if I do but at some of the school my phone doesn't get internet and they don't just give out the password for the school.
Totally agree on packaging. I go to craft fairs to also advertise our home for the elderly, so we have cute bags with the name of the facility. We also put a lot of thought into the packaging of the individual items. However, I do a LOT on the last day, or night. Not the actual crafts, but pricing, packaging, etc. I actually don't mind. This way, I remember what is where exactly and how I was going to display. If I am not going in person, I do display rehearsal with people who are to be at our table.
Awesome tips! Can I ask where you got your sign made? Also, I like the idea of bags/packaging, I just worry it may cost too much? Do you just shop the sales year round for these, or what do you recommend as far as how much to spend on packaging? And I also noticed it looks like you have more than one booth space for your booth, is that correct? Do you recommend renting 2 booth spaces instead of just one? I just did the one space and was kind of cramped but again, I worry about the cost!
One thing to add on the day and night before the show- pack your items, and load into your vehicle- charge you devices over night- that includes your phone and credit card reader. Have your take along bag out in the kitchen to add your water, extra things that do not go into your car the night before and the most important thing is ... have a positive attitude, smile and enjoy the selling experience- YOU sell your handmade products by tell "their" story- how, you made it, why, the colors, other's reaction- This is the top advantage that a handcrafter has over any commercial produced items! This was the best tip my vendor friends gave me. and mostly it works.
How do you decide what price to sell your items? I'm making goodie bags and cards for Halloween that people actually want to buy but I'm not sure how to price them
Amber I enjoy your fantastic crafts and information but I have a question...I know my inventory of each item should be good but how many different items would be good to have for sale??? I appreciate any help you can give me for my question. Thank you
Thank you! It really depends what type of products you are selling. If you have little inexpensive things like I sell, I’d have at least 7-10 different options. If you specialize in something that takes more time and is more of an expensive item, i think it’s perfectly fine to have 1 option. So for example, if you specialize in really nice, time consuming mini albums, I think a booth full of mini albums is just fine. It all depends on what you’re selling. :) Amber
Last year I picked up a bunch of Christmas gift bags for about an quarter each or less. I got it from 99¢ store. I wish I'd gotten so many more. But didn't think I'd use them. Now though I think they'd be great for Christmas items. I think it would make it really nice for a gift you're buying to come with a gift bag already. Not mention that I got the bags so cheap I could probably even sell some with matching tissue paper and a nice decorative tag. Unfortunately the 99¢ store is clear in Texas and I'm in Oklahoma and not planning to travel this Christmas. Oh well I'll just have to clearance shop here.
Love these!...did similar favor box yrs ago but w/o the cute spoons!...just 2 ribbon tied honey straws with each item wrapped in pairs...2 individually wrapped candies in tiny bag....2 iw shortbread in tiny bag ....3 bags of pairs iw teas ....every bag sealed with tiny gold heart.....".Tea for two...they'll sip love with you." ...on a heart shaped card tied to tulle bow. Made no sense....but we were young so it didn't have to right? Anywhoo...thank you for sharing this series and yallz sweet sister bond with us! I💞 my 3 sters (2 here 1 heavenly) and. such bonds warm the ❤.
I want to make handmade cards etc for donations to my local animal shelter..because I am not trying to make a profit do I need to do anything different?
I agreed of not doing anything the day before the sale. I just pack minus my float and lunch. Then I soak in a nice hot bubble bath and watch movies. I also like the bag ideas.
For someones first show(a small scale show) how much inventory do you think I should make? I was thinking 5-10 items per product depending on the item. Ideas??
Depending on what type of items you are making will determine how many you should have. If they are inexpensive under $5 items...I’d say at least 10-15 of each. I try to aim for 20-25 of each. It depends on the size of your craft fair too. Good luck! :) Amber
Packaging is free advertising. I use brown Kraft paper bags in multiple sizes. I tie tulle in my brand colors to one handle and put a brand sticker on the bag. As that customer walks around the market people will notice the bag.
Hi I'm from the UK and I love going to craft fairs and having a go at making things myself. I love to watch crafting videos too. However, I have begun to feel a little disgruntled with things. Is it just me??? I can see that people are making beautiful things, I can see they are made to a very high standard and I am not being critical of this BUT for me - sometimes the things that are for sale are TOO perfect and TOO finished. They look so perfect that they could be mass produced by a machine. What I personally like to see is something that is obviously HAND MADE - I like to see a bit of wonky stitching or a smudged image, to me me that is what a craft fair should embody! I am not trying to be provocative or a moaner! It's just my own personal preference.
This video was awesome, I'm just starting out and I appreciate knowing what I should and shouldn't be doing to have the best turnout. One question I had, that I'm having the hardest time getting info about... to sell at the craft shows do you have a sellers permit or should I be looking into licensing or something to do this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. :)
Keeping pricing clear and visible is important. It’s awkward for everyone to ask constantly “how much is this?” I do love the idea of cute bags for customer purchases
Hi Amber, thanks for sharing. I am gearing up to try craft fairs, your channel is so helpful. Do you know if there is a resource for finding listings of craft fairs in my area to vend at? Or, how do you find shows to participate in? Thanks, and your videos are a joy!
That’s so awesome! I’m so glad you’re going to be doing craft fairs! I would suggest contacting your city leisure services to ask if there are any scheduled and also try calling local schools and churches. After you get in one...you will learn about more. Good luck! xo Amber
I have gotten them everywhere haha! I have a few different kinds. I found some at Walmart, Target Dollar Spot, and Tuesday Morning. I will try to find some similar ones and link them in my Amazon storefront. Thanks for watching! xo Amber
I always decorate my table like a boutique and my bags i put my business stamp on and a card inside. Credit cards are to expensive. I dont like paying companies to use a credit card service. Most craft fairs around here are kinda wishy washy and sometimes you dont make any money. I would consider credit card payments if someone was buying a large dollar amount. Its why i stopped using paypal all the fees. I only do paypal for orders to be shipped.
Thanks for the tips, they are great ones. I haven't done craft shows in years and am just getting started back in them. PayPal Here said I didn't qualify!
Thank you so much for all your help and crafting ideas. I've had a booth at craft fairs for two years now, the 1st was great, the 2nd what a flop. I could not understand why. Great idea! Thank you! xo Amber
Thats what i do.
Better yet, make a sticker of your logo and name to put on each gift bag. Decorated gift bags are great, but without your name it doesn't advertise you. Great tips!
I make my own cards - print labels, put on card stock, trim and punch a hole with 1/8 ribbons, customers love them!
Thanks for great tips which always help. We stamped white and tan paper bags with fall leaves for some craft fairs and Christmas ideas on others, had people comment or come to our booth and say oh this where the cute bags came from! It really does make a difference on the packaging, your always helpful. Thanks again and again!
That sound so pretty! And very artsy!

Thank you, great tips. I have a Beauty Bath Body and Gift business for 25 years
It is very important. That you follow Her
points.
Thank you so much!!! xo Amber
Thank you and amber for this tip! I thought I was going overboard, but yay! Thank you both
I just had a craft show this past Saturday.
Love your work
Great idea! :) Amber
Great tips! I have not done a craft fair yet, but when I do, I’m following all of these tips.
Amber, I love your videos. You have seriously inspired me and I am really considering doing a craft fair next fall. Thank you for your inspiration.
Hello. I love your craft display. How do you know when it’s best to put an item in a cellophane bag?
Amber, thanks for teaching us to be professional and successful while having fun!
Thank you for being so generous with your talents and time. These tutorials are so inspiring.
Hope that helps! xo Amber
That would be a GREAT video to watch!!!
@Stichopia Lyriclover810 gave excellent advice and I would like to add something to it.

Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your top tips.
Thank you so much for the tips! I am doing my very first craft fair in Dec. 1st and your channel has been such an inspiration for me.
great tips and I so agree with the packaging. It makes all the difference. My mom will by something from someone just because of the bag. LOL
The gift bag idea is amazing!!! I always recycle gift bags so it’s perfect for someone like me to reuse. Thank you! I love all of your ideas!! You are amazing!!!!😍
Thank you so much! xo Amber
Amber, I am a new subscriber and I have to tell you I love all good videos ! You have given me so many ideas and tips!!! You are a wonderful inspiration!!! Thanks so much!!!!
Never done a craft fair, but when I do, I will use these super helpful tips. Thanks Amber.
Very helpful video tips! Thanks for guiding this new bee in the craft fair world! 😄🙏🏼
You make crafting so fun! Love your videos.

I might stick a "Thank you" sticker on the bags. I bought mine on Amazon.
When your rented space is as 10 x 10...do you use a 6 foot table?

Love the pretty bag tip! Will be doing my first craft fair this year!! :)
Thank you so much! So awesome! I hope you do great! With your gorgeous art....I know you will. xo Amber
Great tips, thank you!! Now how do we find a craft fair to go to??
On one of your recent videos where you showed your booth set up, I noticed a little sign saying you accept credit cards. Have been meaning to ask you what you use. Sometimes procrastination pays off - lol. Thanks for sharing your time-tested tips.
I love how you share your ideas and experience. Thank you!
I love the idea of giving a pretty bag to your customers for their goodies. Yes, a walking advertisement for you! Nice work, Amber! :-)
thanks for the great tips!! I have to say that you are so right about the packaging!! Love your videos!! And of course, love you and your sweet family!! God bless!

Oh!! I forgot to say I loved the scene with the old grocery bag!! LOL
Thank you! 😊
Amen to all of these, especially credit cards. I’m a small business owner & use square.
Great tips. The only one I don't use is the credit cards/paypal. Do you add the added fee to use their cards? I know people usually ask me if I do but at some of the school my phone doesn't get internet and they don't just give out the password for the school.

Thanks for the tips! I'm prepping for my first show as a seller and had never thought of tip 2
Great tips love them all. But if you sell out you sell out. How did you last craft fair go?
How do you decide what price to sell your items? I'm making goodie bags and cards for Halloween that people actually want to buy but I'm not sure how to price them
Wonderdul tips and wonderful actors...
Hi Amber, awesome video - the gift bags are a great addition and they're super affordable : )
Thank you Amber! Great tips and info! Love the video!

Where did you purchase your banner on the table?
I'm enjoying your videos. What is your best seller?
Oh my thanks so much I want to try and get ready for next spring show and these tips r great
I see where you have you Mini TN for $12.00 This is the first year I will have them on my table. Do you sell these at the price you have
I want to make handmade cards etc for donations to my local animal shelter..because I am not trying to make a profit do I need to do anything different?
Very good tips Amber I agree as I have learned through my years smiles
I agreed of not doing anything the day before the sale. I just pack minus my float and lunch. Then I soak in a nice hot bubble bath and watch movies. I also like the bag ideas.
For someones first show(a small scale show) how much inventory do you think I should make? I was thinking 5-10 items per product depending on the item. Ideas??
Depending on what type of items you are making will determine how many you should have. If they are inexpensive under $5 items...I’d say at least 10-15 of each. I try to aim for 20-25 of each. It depends on the size of your craft fair too. Good luck!

Your so right about the packaging !!
Keeping pricing clear and visible is important. It’s awkward for everyone to ask constantly “how much is this?” I do love the idea of cute bags for customer purchases
Very true!
Great tips. Only one of it's kind on TH-cam!
great tips. very kind of you to share with us. thank you.
Good luck!

Hi. What do u wrap in the tissue paper
The items people purchase. :)
Yes thank you hun.😊
Value added with the bags!
Where do you get your little chalkboard
I dont have PayPal but would like to accept credit cards. Is there any other way?
square.com super easy
Yes, I think the square would work without PayPal. The link is below the video and probably explains it better than I can.
:) Amber
