    Great video, Kendal - I have just started using ClassIn and your videos have taught me the most! Excellent.

    I'd really recommend the "teacher screenshare mode" (also known as "multidirectional screenshare - seems to depend on your ClassIn version or PC/Mac). It looks like the curriculum you mentioned is using the same software as the Abridge Academy curriculum resources, which are designed with activities for students to click, drag-and-drop, draw, etc. In the "teacher screenshare" option (if you and your students are on computers and you've authorised your students to access the ClassIn tools) there's the option to give students direct control of your mouse and thus directly interact with the slides 😊

      I did briefly mention that in my video, but forgot to go into more detail when showing the screen share. From my experience, most (young) students use a tablet. I also like the ability to move the student and make our screens bigger. The only reason I would use screen share is if a student was on a computer so I could give mouse control, but unfortunately none of mine are.

      @@onlineeslteachertutorials5655 sure I must have missed that sorry! Yeah, unfortunately a lot of kids do use iPads :'( Tbh if they have a computer and wanted to directly interact (or just in general if you're mostly using a web-based or screenshared curriculum), I'd probably recommend Zoom or Koala rather than ClassIn as the mouse control is a lot smoother on those platforms and there are just generally more tools during screensharing. I kinda feel like the screensharing on ClassIn is more of an afterthought, whereas stuff you can do on the virtual blackboard itself is a lot more powerful - it's best for classes where you're uploading materials or building activities within ClassIn itself (you have some awesome video tutorials on this!), and of course for group classes it has much more useful class management tools :)

      @@KatiePrescott I definitely agree on those points. ClassIn is a great program, but there are many ways they could improve. I mostly use PPT right now, but just started using some web-based curriculum with a few students. What I really wish for is the ability for a student to be given mouse control in the browser, but that may never happen. I like being able to move the student and teacher boxes to interact with the lesson.

      @@onlineeslteachertutorials5655 definitely! I had a chat with the Koala team recently and they're working on something for iPads apparently, so that's super exciting! Their computer app allows really good student interaction with the built in browser (not just controlling your mouse, but you can both interact simultaneously) and you can drag your videos on top of the slides, resize, annotate with text/clipart/images/drawing, etc.
      I also tried a few "co-browsing" tools like Surfly, they *almost* work but I had a few issues with some types of Genially animations (particularly the puzzle extension). If you're using a web based curriculum that's using simpler interactions though, Surfly might be worth looking into.

      @@onlineeslteachertutorials5655 It is really unfortunate that Classin has not allowed students to click when authorized on tablet!! Hoping for them to include this in an update soon!

    Hey Kendal. I just tried testing this with my Macbook (as the teacher) and Android phone (as the student) but it didn't seem to work. I wrote on Learnaling using Learnaling drawing tools, while "the student" wrote using ClassIn drawing tools. When I clicked to turn to the next page, my writing disappeared as expected, but I wasn't able to delete the student's writing with Command+Z on my Mac. I also don't see the "undo icon" anywhere in the standard classroom. The "Large-Screen" isn't available for Mac. Where did I go wrong?

    Hi Kendal and thank you for the very informative video! I can’t seem to find any choice of large screen or regular mode. My ClassIn has been updated as well. Do you have any idea where else I would find this feature?

    How do I enable my students to use the click tool in web browser? For example I show them online games. How can they click on it?

    Nice clear video, Kendal. Thanks. I have a Mac so some of my screen sharing options may be different. Teacher screen share does not automatically share my entire desktop. It gives me a green window. I also can use the paintbrush to immediately erase all drawing marks on the screen in screen share. Does that work differently on a PC?

    • @onlineeslteachertutorials5655
      @onlineeslteachertutorials5655  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip about the paintbrush! I've heard others say the same thing about the green box. I wonder if it is a Mac vs PC thing. I've tried to move the green box when it goes full screen, but it won't let me.

    Thank you so much for making this video! I see that you have a trash can button. I have no idea why I only have an eraser option, but no trash can. I am using a Mac and I have the unpaid version for reference. Thanks for your help!

    thank you for this video!, I have a question, can the students click on the website?

    • @onlineeslteachertutorials5655
      @onlineeslteachertutorials5655  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using the browser tool, students can't click on the website. If you have a student using a desktop or laptop computer they can click if you use the "teacher screen share" tool.

    If you use a web-based curriculum and it has a video will the student and you still be able to hear the video if you don't screen share.
