    I don't comment on too many videos, but this was so well put together I had to. Things were really put into perspective and I def see why they slowed down the MMA division for 2023. I hope things improve as I'm a fan of ONE and I hope they continue to thrive. I enjoy the variety of their cards. Once again great video!

      Dude thank you so much. ONE has a lot of great qualities, I just hope they can find a way to bring the best out of the ingredients they have. And be around long enough to see it happen.

    The only time I was able to catch one of their mma event was when they came to America for the first time. Another thing that was on my mind was when DJ was gonna fight that one dude after his win, just to find out that dude popped for PEDS. I agree that one should cut their loses with mma at this point since theres hardly any movement happening in any of the divisions

      That was a great event in the US to be honest! If they could manage to have more events like that they’d be cookin.

      @@mmaecosystem it was also my first mma event as well so it was awesome to see it live. I think they should've brought in some kick boxing matches and used the ring instead the cage, but aye it was awesome event overall

    Is anyone really a fan of their grappling matches? Everytime I see their social media highlights, the comments are insane. I'm okay with it because I practice BJJ, but I can totally do without grappling on their product. I would love to see their chanpions eventually make a move to MMA.
    Womens Atomweight and Strawweight should merge at this point, same with Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight. I seriously can't name one fighter exclusive to Light Heavyweight 😂.
    Awesome video bro. 👍

      Ha totally, thanks man. Just make women's divisions openweight ha. There's a real opportunity with grappling to make something cool, but I don't think it happens in the ring in between kickboxing fights.

      I actually love ONE’s grappling matches, ONE’s platform is a nice breather cause they showcase All martial arts individually and then the special mixed rules super matches which are entertaining. If I’m ranking what I watch with grappling/BJJ One>ADCC>UFC invintational>every other org like Polaris/EBI/Quintet etc

    Great data summary showing the problem with MMA in ONE.
    But tbh, I don't even care about MMA in ONE. I had so much fun with the muay thai-packed Friday Fights cards that I would rather watch two Thais I've never heard of than an MMA title fight. I caught myself skipping the mma fights and I don't even consider ONE an mma organization. I'm here for the muay thai bangers and last year was probably the year when I enjoyed watching ONE the most.
    I hope they'll continue that way.

      I'm with you- I'd say, sell the MMA divisions to someone like PFL to build their roster in Asia and focus on striking arts. They had some fun things going with MMA throughout the years but it's clear they've lost their spot as an MMA leader.

    Adding all those grappling matches and titles was the straw the broke the camel’s back.
    They should just merge strawweight and atomweight. Also merge light heavy and heavy.

    • @mmaecosystem
      @mmaecosystem  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m all for that! There’s a real opportunity to do cool things with grappling, but I think it needs its own platform to really reach its full potential, like what CFFC has done with Fury Pro grappling.

      @anonymous-one 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mmaecosystem agreed. Ive been saying it would be cool if ONE did a weekly grappling thing on Saturday/Sunday mornings or something… similar to Friday Night Fights where its just submission grappling in a cage somewhere in America where BJJ is popular. Pay them something like $1500/1500 to grapple under ONE rules and scoring. Sign the grapplers who get a lot of wins to the main show and that way the grappling division isn't just Mikey, Routolo, Danielle Kelly rolling through people making their ONE debut.

    I never really noticed that much until you mentioned it, I've been enjoying the muay thai events, I practice muay thai and bjj so I enjoy both but miss the mma events, they had some great talent from japan and south korea from regional events like Shooto Japan, or south Korea's Road FC, I hate to say it but the grappling is a farce, the level of talent is so one sided I don't know how anyone could be happy with a belt when you medaled at ADCC or IBJJF at black belt then beat some unknown grappler from Mongolia or Kazakhstan, give me a break, they need to get better competition from the bigger teams like AOJ, Fight Sports, B-Team, Alliance JJ, 10th Planet etc

    • @mmaecosystem
      @mmaecosystem  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally, the grappling divisions have pretty polarizing. I think spinning it off to be separate from the other sports and having way more matches would help it grow. It’s got a very weird identity right now.

    They should focus on the chinese market like ufc does. They already have a champion with Tang Kai in the healthiest division and xiong jingnan. 2 chinese mma champions
    A lot of new mma talents and the market is not only focused on kickboxing or muay thai like thailand

    • @mmaecosystem
      @mmaecosystem  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree! If they can freely host events in China, then I’d love to see them host smaller shows with all the booming talent there, I think it’s a starved market for combat sports

    pretty simple; ONE are going to run out of money by the end of 2024 and don't have a future investor on board yet. their MMA fighters are on bloated contracts with big guranteed purses.
    their MT fighters are far cheaper, so ONE are going to use them for events, to cut costs, thereby extending their runway, while their financial future remains uncertain. their MMA fighters have no option but to sit and wait because the contracts are that constrictive

    • @mmaecosystem
      @mmaecosystem  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And it does seem that all the sudden tons of title fights are getting booked. I have no idea what the future holds for them, but if the talk of an expiring runway is true, it reminds of Bellator booking title fights in a flurry last fall.

    • @rocotaco5517

      @@mmaecosystem now that you mentioned that I was wondering why bellator was booking so many title fights and I can see it was a last hurrah for them.
