    Transferring into a car with a disability can be difficult if you aren’t using the correct method and technique, so in this video I want to teach you how to easily transfer into a car for any disability, without the aid of a transfer board.
    I’ll show you how to transfer into a car that is lower than your wheelchair, and also a pick-up truck that will likely be higher. The transfer techniques differ slightly, but it is essential to be able to do both transfer techniques.
    Thanks for watching! Stay motivated!

      Hey Nathan, that's quite the situation! When I used to travel with my friends who are also in chairs, of course you need a big enough pickup or van to accommodate all the wheelchairs but the one person gets in, you load his/her chair. And so forth. One person will be working quite a lot at the end of the day😅. Unless you have some kind of automated device that lpads the chairs for you. I've seen them. They load chairs on the roof.

    Thanks for sharing your techniques in car transfers. Question: What size rear wheels are you running on your chair? I noticed your hand rims are quite different; its almost as large in diameter as the wheels, what's the purpose for that? Wouldn't the hand rims get scratched up going through gravel?

    • @AlwynUys
      @AlwynUys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      24" wheels. Standard size wheels and push rims hey. Yes they do get scratches on but that's normal. Luckily they don't damage easily! Very hard material I guess

    What kind of chair do you have. And do you constantly wish it was lighter?

    Hi, did you have to do anything to the amarok to get the door to open wider to make it easier to get in?

    • @AlwynUys

      Hi Johan, no nothing. Standard Amarok 🙌🏼

      @@AlwynUys thnx. I drive a lifted jeep wrangler as daily drive, but cool thing about the wrangler is you adjust the door stop so the door opens more than 90 degrees. Super handy to create more space to load the chair. Cool video. Can you also do a vid on the hand controls? Would like to see your setup. I use detachable kit in the wrangler but woukd like to see whats the alternatives. Always have a smile to see peeps faces when i stop the wrangler in a wheelchair parking bay hehehehe... till i get into the chair

      Hahaha I'm getting myself a Jeep too, soon ☺️🙌🏼 sounds amazing! Same here with Bakkie, people always give me a look when parking 🤭.
      Yeah. I have permanent controls in. Works really well! But detachable might be better for traveling

    Do you have Ford cars in SA? Because it was Henry Ford who decided to put the steering wheel on the left hand side of his vehicle, and that's why we evidently drive on the right side of the road. Now in England driving on the left side of the road dates back to Roman times and then of course it was made a law later. I don't own a Ford myself, but I found it interesting why some countries drive on the left side and others drive on the right side. Weirdo I know, or maybe just curious. 😋🙃😉🤣Wouldn't it be easier if all vehicles were manufactured the same way though? Just a random thought.. I'm good for random thoughts lol. This comment has absolutely nothing to do with the content of this video..lol Another random thought. I'm amusing myself however. 🙃🙂😊

      @@QQ0000 you made me come back to my silly comment and it made me laugh again! 🤣😂🙃I didn't even remember this! 😁Now I have to watch the video again. Funny how so much can change in six months, in a good way. I love me some Noah! 🦮It's all in good fun! I've learned a few words including Dankie and Bakkie. Pronouncing it like Buckie means a totally different thing in other lands. I fascinate myself in a non arrogant kind of way.
