What kind of hard drive should I buy? I’ve tried several hard drives that read as good but I keep getting errors. It’s frustrating. It will load sometimes and but other times it goes to error screen.
I just Factory reset and selected Remove everything right now praying and it worked!!!!!!!! Had to re enter my account but it’s all good now! (Xbox one X!)
Yea I done the offline update worked good for a few weeks now getting error 106 me and my buddy going to try another hard drive so let’s see if that works

This will keep happening to you for 2 reasons one being the connection from the sata and power cable combo offen goes bad because of head and other things. And two the office system update should only be going onto a USB device with 3.1 USB out and formated to ntfs with atleast 10 gb of storage
I have a xbox one x as well and every time I try to install something on it, it can install it partially before telling me that the installation was interrumpted. Once I turn off my xbox and turn back on, it throws me the same E106 error and the system doesn't turn on. Then I wait like 40 minutes and turn back on and I can install it a bit more. I'm not a specialist but I do believe is a hard drive issue or could be the thermal paste of the xbox one x, I'm not sure. But I'm gonna disassemble it and connect the hdd to inspect it just like you did on the video. Thanks for the video Kyle!
I have both codes pop up. But everytime I reset it restart the console it gets so far then shuts off.. tried the update offline update, it tries to update, gets so far then the Xbox completely shuts off. I have similar symptoms as everyone else, but every trick is thwarted by the console, gets so far then crashes and shuts off.. completely lost on what’s wrong.. I’m not rich so just buying a new console is a difficult move… sounds like a lot of people have this issue I don’t want to buy a new console only to end up with the same problem years from now

You should have the option of offline system update before taking it apart as well. If it doesn't show up with the USB in the Xbox then your USB is probably not formatted correctly or you do have OSU1 on it
@@KylesTinkering Mine was formatted properly and i found that doing the hard reset thing (hearing two beeps thing) helps pull it up. Edit: I think that its not my hard drive at all, thinking its my HDD having a sucky connection between the HD and the xbox itself

So does this mean I need to wait till an OS higher than 10.0.26016.1002 is released till I can restore the Xbox again?
Not sure about that one. Usually if it gets stuck on doing an update just wiping the HDD and rebuilding it fixes it. Don't think waiting for a higher update would do anything

If you've tried all of the USB ports, and you can connect your controller to the Xbox using a Micro USB cable (pull the batteries, plug it into the xbox) then you can confirm the ports are working and then it just comes down to either the USB Drive. I think FAT32 format works but I always use NTFS. Should have a $SystemUpdate folder on the USB drive. Grab the latest update from the offline system update page: support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/console/system-update-solution/offline-system-update
No, the system wouldn't take the update from the A and B folders anyways, so I've always had to use the flash drive. I suspect Microsoft changed it from some firmware update, how the update is applied.
I think mine is bad capacitors or some electrical issue. My 1X will try to factory restore or install offline update and it begins the process to like 7% then crashes back to troubleshoot error screen. Tried a brand new formatted ntfs 1tb hdd and same result. Reformatted the old hdd which my PC scanned and said it didnt need any repairs. Both hdd have same error and I have followed the exact instructions for USB offline update file OSU1.
@@darwin647 I fixed mine by buying a new hard drive but it went back to acting up a day later. Turns out it was the connector that goes from the hard drive to the motherboard. Bought a $8 Sata cable from Best Buy and cut the one from the xbox off and replaced it with the new sata cable and everything works perfect now. May not even have needed a hard drive at all 🤦🏽♂️
@@KylesTinkering I replaced hard drive and brought usb disk and downloaded osu1 file to it and extracted the update file then transfer it to Xbox. I pressed the power button, the eject button, and the sync button, then I heard the second loop sound, then let it go. The device setting reaches 1 and it tells me there is an error when I restart the device, the control unit setting reaches 7 and the same error returns me to e106. Hope you can help me

Depends. If the system turns off but you can turn it back on, right away, then it could be the HDD. I've had that issue before. If it turns off but doesn't turn back on, unless you wait, it's not the HDD, it's soething else. If the games are just freezing it could be the HDD. The system is trying to access resources on the HDD and the HDD is corrupt, so the system just freezes.
@@KylesTinkering I’m not sure what’s up with mine it turns on and off fine but when I do turn it on it will act if there’s no hdmi then it will get to the preparing console screen then fail and I’m in troubleshooting mode me and my buddy are going to try another hard drive I’ve had it for about 3 years taken good care of it so I’m baffled as to why it would be acting up like this
@@ryanjohanson8503 is it a new hdd? If it's failing on preparing system it sounds like software issue still, like the hdd isn't working so it can't install the OS

Did you do the Xbox One HDD program to have it format and create the partitions? If it's still failing after that I would try to format again using the utility
I was at a error e102 and I was stuck in a loop so I downloaded the osu2 as I have a older Xbox so I need two updates then when I applied the update it brought me to e106 I’m hoping adding the osu1 should fix it I’m about to try it now.
@@besttest6831 It would not. If it was a HDD failure it would still at least display something, like the beginning of the video, it boots to the safe mode menu and shows E106
@@besttest6831 Very random but the retimer IC could have fried after the restart. As long as the light on the front is still on, show the xbox is still powered on.

I have an Xbox One S with error e106 and e101, I changed the hard drive for a WD Blue 1tb and it still has the same error, what else should I do?

When my console numbers start to go up to 1, he tells me there's a mistake, he gives me a code of e101 00000504 4B050041, and he brings me back.
I think this works for E101 as well. If you ever see E100 then replacing the HDD/doing the OSU1 update will not fix it.

@@Dabocz That's a different problem then... Make sure it's formatted as NTFS and you've extracted the $SystemUpdate folder onto the flash drive

I had this had to replace power dater cable then osu1 to fix never happend again
