    Scar and Toph shows were a huge part of my life as I've grown up. Been watching you guys for a long time (2015) and have gotten through some rough shit thanks to your guys content. Lots of laughs and memories shared alone and with friends because of you guys. Thanks for doing this show, it means more to people than you guys probably realize.

    I remember finding the early scar and toph show episodes immediately following watching the smash doc. Watched the mango scar and toph ep first since despite how they thought they made him look in the doc I thought he was quite the intriguing character like a Nate Diaz type of smash pro. (That doc did do him dirty I remember thinking this is more like a hit piece) but nonetheless it led to me discovering the greatest show on the internet the wonderful Scar & Toph Show. Soon became interested in this “Anther” fellow and would quickly discover the talent pool sitting on the ladder from the northeast on any given day. Was able to link up with several interesting characters on there Rishi being the most notable. Played sets with M2K (akaneia melee) and armadas inkling in ultimate. Had a good bit of fun during my time spent in the smash world. Hope to attend a big event one day in the future now that I’m starting to feel a bit better and have been back to work. God bless thank you both for the countless nerd chill moments in which you both elevated the moment perfectly through your narrations. Forever legends of the game and the esports scene as a whole. Thank you for all you do both behind the scenes and in front. Wish you both the absolute best. Nothing but love and respect.

    I love the casual conversation vibe from this episode, and I'm only 10 minutes in. I had to commentate before I forget but I totally remember the bronze Tanaka videos from FGC Translated. I think a while later he fought a high ranked Kage who did the "setup" and was like 'TANAKA?? IS THAT YOU?"
    Dark paladins are a thing, I played one when I played D&D with my dad and sister, so I'd be surprised if it wasn't in BG3. And I learned our eyes have rollback.

    Personally my favorite format has always been the original The Reads format of Scar and Toph with a random guest playing melee. But there was something special about it when it was on Anthers. Don't get me wrong Slippi is way better but the fact people could actually send messages back and forth was hilarious. But I have to say my favorite guests were Mango even if I wasnt a mango fan back then he is entertaining, Lovage/Oscar is always good, None blew my mind, and I think Duck was pretty good. Oh also the ludwig episodes were hilarious because he was just the editor.
    As for the Scar and Toph show, its cool just not my personal favorite because I wasn't watching/listening back then.

    As someone who's been DMing D&D for a few years now, I can definitely say we don't know all the rules and there's lots of figuring stuff out on the fly, you just get good at hiding it. I hope you both can try playing soon, it's a ton of fun. Don't be afraid about roleplaying, a lot of it will come from your group becoming more comfortable playing with each other.

    Really really interesting talk near the end about adapting to players and "refresh rate" and whatnot.
    I hit a plateau in Melee like several years ago at this point, whereas I've kept improving in other fighting games, and the reason I've always given myself is that I'm a very adaptation-based player and Melee is simply too fast for me to consider my opponent's decisions and adapt in the moment. I hadn't considered that certain options/strategies in Melee basically can't be adapted against outside of a top level.
    In the past, I used to just naively focus on mixing up my own play with no regard to what options it would beat, just being different to be offbeat and generally unpredictable. Now I try to mix things up intelligently but it takes up so much of my focus that it might not be worth it. Maybe the naive play is better...

    The episode with Toby Fox was one of my all time favorites. Learning his (then at least) favorite song, Suikunkutsu, was awesome as it introduced me to Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra as well as the song being a banger in itself.

  • @TrevsTreehouse
    @TrevsTreehouse 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Honestly I'm barely ever on autopilot unless its someone 'worse' than me but I also just started practicing tech skill and I've been playing the game casually for years. So I don't have as much tech skill integrated into my muscle memory as most players. Also, Melee is my favorite game so when I play it I don't really think about anything else especially if I am challenged and trying to adapt. I try to focus a lot on adaptation because its the essence of the game and being a top player.

    In 1st edition Advanced dnd if the paladin deviates enough he loses his powers and has to go on a redemption quest.
    So yeah you have to be that guy lol.
    Later editions theres no such rules

  • @SomeoneWitSkill
    @SomeoneWitSkill 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    25:00 I pretty much always play on autopilot until it gets to a moment in the game where i'm like oh shit, I gotta pay attention or i'll lose. Or if I keep getting hit by the same thing over and over I'll be like ok, it's time to pay attention here.
