    Nice video. Nikola Jokic has said if he makes a point then ONE person is happy BUT if he makes an assist then TWO people are happy. That explains a lot about his pass-first mentality.

    Someone I know once called Jokic "modern Bill Russel" and it makes a lot of sense. It is a Center whose singular goal is team winning and playing the game in the correct way

    The thing about Jokic's overall game is that the league still struggles to understand it. There are certain tendencies that an average NBA player do in offense. Jokic is so unique that he doesn't fit the defender's expectation. He finds weird angles that the defender doesn't even think it's possible. I wouldn't call this deception. You can't deceive an entire league over a period of 3+ years.

      He’s just better than everyone else.
      I’m not sure people truly realize what we are watching with Jokic.
      When he is gone, only then will we fully appreciate just what the fuck this one man has created. He’s changed the sport of basketball.
      Coaches in middle-high school-college are now allowing their centers to play make because of Jokic. He’s evolving the sport, by creating the first Point Center position. This will lead to more and more centers trying to copy the Joker’s style.
      We’ve never seen a player have the full offensive arsenal Jokic has. And he is 7 feet and 300 pounds, which makes him physically unstoppable.
      It’s crZy to think about

      @@steviechampagne The last part in particular: Smaller players have zero change to stop him while players of the same size as him tend to be much lesser player than him in most areas. He is a mismatch nightmare as it is and then he starts passing like that. Game over.

    • @berryesseen
      @berryesseen 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @@steviechampagne I really would like to witness that Jokic actually changed the game like Steph did. If you didn’t watch, go and watch PG’s podcast with JJJ where JJJ explains what it’s like to play against Jokic. Collecting rebounds and passing from weird angles are understandable to some degree but then 3-ball hitting from nowhere. That’s where most players give up. AD’s smile last year was genuine.

      @@HOOPMASTERY You said it. And it is simple to just watch a game to realize that this is what it is.
      Shaq did it with pure strength. Jokic has that over almost all the players in the NBA atm and then he is adding fast reactions, better shooting and playmaking of the highest level ...

  • @vlada
    @vlada 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

    Wayne Gretzky was this skinny kid that wasn't strong, not very fast on skates and had one of weakest shots on team (one of the GK, not Fuhr, had stronger shot) but what allowed him to totally obliterate scoring, passing and pts records was his vision, his game iq, his ability to know how the field changes 3 steps after his move or to predict where his teammates were. He had good technical skills like stick handling and shiftiness on skates but his mind was his strongest attribute.
    I feel the same watching Jokic play. Many, many times a game when you watched both the only reaction youd have is just laugh at what you saw. I know the term unicorn has been used to death but Gretzky and Jokic are something i never saw before.

    The way that he gets the passes off so quick he looks for fraction and then delivers after he looks away. I’ve never seen anybody that could do this. I saw magic when he was a rookie I saw magic. I saw magic when he was in the league MVP, there’s no way he made any of these passes like this. He made great passes, but these are incredible passes.

    Enjoy Jokic while you can. He and the Nuggets are certainly capable of winning more championships and I hope they do. But it wouldn't surprise me if after a couple of more championships, Jokic decides that it's time to return to Sober, Serbia for good and spend time with his horses. Let's hope he sticks around for a while; he's so much fun to watch.

    What people don’t get unless you watch all his games is that it’s not just his passing. He can shoot in the paint, mid-range and even threes with ease and from many positions. So if you guard the others and single him up, he’s going to destroy you with his shots. Double him up and he ALWAYS finds the open man. The rest of the team knows how he works so well now that they create they’re own openings, knowing he’ll find them at just the right moment. It’s unreal how he does it. I’ve been watching every game for 7 years and he’s still getting better with no end in sight.

    NBA athletes still focus on athleticism more than team work. The challenge in team sports is getting every one to play as a team beyond plays. Play as one unit when there isn’t a play, that team will reach something rarely seen, 2014 Spurs.

    in modern history, regarding power forwards and centers, draymond green in those “golden state golden years” was doing almost this what jokic is doing now. the only difference jokic almost doubled those numbers which green had in his best two seasons.

    • @baseballpimp1910
      @baseballpimp1910 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very good point. Dray is a great passer and we all thought he killed the traditional center position as we know it. Then this Serbian paradox comes in with all the fundamental skills of an old school center, but with modern skills, coordination, dexterity, and a brilliant basketball mind as well. He doesn't move fast but he's always in control. Dray's issue though is that outside 15-16 when he shot well from three, he's never had the scoring skill and touch that Jokic has. Jokic's scoring ability and touch on his floaters in the short pick and roll makes him completely unstoppable because defenses never know if they should commit to Joker or the low post guy, and sometimes, Jokic manipulates defenders into doing what he wants with subtle no looks and blended passes that defenses expect to be floaters. I've always said that if prime Joker was on the 2015-16 Warriors instead of Dray, they'd obviously lose a lot of Green's elite defensive value, but Joker would average 11 assists at least and probably the most efficient 15 to 17 points per game of all time.

    I think it's why he's hated by certain people in the NBA world. The results of his deception are that he commonly makes opponents look foolish. They're all thinking they understand NBA basketball, but Jokic shows them he knows more about what's happening than they do. That will make people angry.
    Also, he's a big, tall, guy who can bang and get rebounds, but his offensive prowess is born from finesse, not power. He has excellent touch and sees the court better than anyone. He doesn't need to run over anyone and he proves it's not necessary, especially with his passes. That will put off people who think the assertion of power is necessary from big men.
