    This would be a lot of fun for a baby shower...everyone make some and the mommy to be has a stockpile!

    This is such a great idea. I'd definitely do this if I had a baby.

    I love the idea of making anything @ home...love saving $ & don't like the harmful ingredients they're putting in just about everything on the market. I just started watching your videos today & I love them. Keep them coming! Btw, I'm really glad you're mentioning & using organic products in your videos. =)
    P.S. I would use Seventh Generation paper towels because they have no chlorine. Most paper products (including personal items such as toilet paper, panty liners, maxi pads, etc.) are bleached and have chlorine in them along with other harmful ingredients that can be detrimental to your body & health.

    I've been doing this when I ran out of wipes but I would just use water and lotion. Great recipes

    Really good idea, mine always end up drying out before I finish them so now I know how to remoisten them.
    Do you have a recipe for the antibacterial wipes?

    How long do they last before drying up? As long as a regular wipe container?

    To cut the paper towel roll to half the size, try using an electric bread knife. WAY easier and faster! I have used this method before when my son was little 20 years ago. Also made homemade Lysol wipes for the bathroom for daily clean ups. MUCH less expensive than store bought.

    does it matter if you use the green or clear aloe and what is a good price for witch hazel

    • @drasco61084
      @drasco61084 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Witch hazel is very common at the big stores at least. It is about as cheap as rubbing alcohol I think or a dollar or so more maybe.

    I use washrags for baby's butt. We cloth diapered (BumGenius), and so always had a wet bag to put the diapers in and the washrags went in there too. Plus, my kids never liked cold wipes on their bottoms, so I always made the rag wet just before a diaper change.
    Now that we're diaper free, I still have the rags and a smaller wet bag laying around, in case of a messy cleanup. I used coconut oil as diaper rash cream and cradle cap removal.

    • @Mary6leon

      paper towel should not go in the toilet!

    • @MoBanuelos
      @MoBanuelos 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, My mom just told me that some of the flushable wipes aren't good for the toilet either. :-)

    • @zruthl
      @zruthl 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Even though they advertise that they are flushable wipes and most of them actually are flushable, the problem is when the wipes get into the sewer system. Those flushable wipes that are supposed to break down don't so it causes the sewer system to backup and costly repairs. See an article at nypost.com/2014/03/02/flushable-wipes-clogging-up-drains-citywide/
      So don't flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilet.

    Can’t believe you didn’t reach for the bread knife first. Carving knife won’t easily slice stacked paper-which is made from wood cellulose, or plant stalks. Stalks have to be structurally strong to hold up the plant, which means that if you want to cut them with a straight edge, better be prepared to hammer away like you would with an axe. In contrast, when you slice something like green beans with your carving knife, you’re cutting the fruit of the plant-the and the fruit doesn’t hold up the plant, so its composition is softer. Bread is sort of between the two. It’s not what it’s made from that makes it “tenacious”, so much as the tendrils that form from its rising. In contrast, flatbread cuts easily with a carving knife.
    Just something more to put under your home economics bonnet.

    This is a great idea, however she suggested using Johnson and Johnson Baby shampoo and Paper Towels. Hmmm...so she concerned about chemicals, well you should not use baby shampoo because they are full of hard to pronounce names and cancer causing agents. You would have to use the Dr. Bronners instead. Ever wondered why those white paper towels are so soft? welll that is because they are bleached and guess what - Full of chemicals. So you would have to use brown paper towels.Well those are not very soft. Well the point is if you are concerened with the chemicals in baby wipes and want a replacement, you have to look at what you replace the chemical baby wipes with!

      zruthl I was going to say that J&J products are horrible with chemicals! Additionally I don't like the idea of having soap in baby wipes. How do you rince the soap off? My friend has been using olive oil and baby lotion, on toilet paper: the size if perfect without using a knife and there is no soap to rince! Thanks for the video, I'll do my version however.

    Do the same thing with cloth wipes! You can even make the cloth wipes fit your favorite disposable wipe container ;)

    This will cost more with all the ingredients you buy but they can be use them for other things. Aloe Vera for making your own hand sanitizer and sunburns. Witch hazel as a toner and making your own hand sanitizer. Dr. Bronners soap for cleaning and making baby shampoo/body wash, and Olive oil for cooking.

    If you use baby shampoo, you'll find ingredient names that scare you there, too. I've always passed on this idea, even though I had twins. My time was worth more than this. Is rather buy at Aldi or get store brand, or wait for sale & use coupons.
