Bracing first is an excellent tip that a lot of newish lifters should follow.

@James, so you are using HIT principles? Using rest pause on every workout may not be so necessary, especially when there is a secondary exercise. Also, HIT implies that there is no such thing as isolation, only muscle bias. So, if you do a nasty squat, your hamstrings are already pre-exhausted, therefore, 1 set and 1 exercise is sufficient. The rest pauses and drop sets can be used, I am very very guilty of using them a lot but I also have a habit if moving exercises around, so it adds something new. Leaving rest pauses and drop sets at later workouts in my opinion is like adding nitric oxide when you need it because as we all know, muscles stagnate. By the way, you may not have enough water in that flask or too much aminos or creatine or combination of everything; You seem to have been dehydrating towards the 2nd exercise (dry mouth).

If you’re going for a rest pause on the prime seated and its second exercise, wouldn’t it be more beneficial to do the rest pause in setting 3? Since you kind of pre exhausted on the lying first. Or perhaps do setting 1 for the first rest pause, setting 5 for the second half, and setting 3 for the final? Wouldn’t that facilitate more fatigue

Certainly can IF you dint want the weight to be consistent throughout. I just prefer mine consistent that's all :) I'm nit trying to facilitate fatigue I'm trying to enduce it

@IFBB PRO JAMES HOLLINGSHEAD-When would you do multiples sets? As mentioned, I am a HIT guy but multiple sets? Yes, If I employ multiple sets, it will be as a new form of stimulus, meaning each set will not be to failure, the advantage is the pump or as Milos will call it, sarcoplasmic stimulus. Inclined chest will be an inclined press for 3 sets with say 70% effort; If you watch Jay Cutlers old stuff, he will move weight until tempo starts to go to crap; A very good way to not over do sets and a very freaking difficult technique to master, hence why I like HIT, very easy to over train in my opinion as further exercises for different target areas will still add damage. However, as I have mentioned, I use it some times to fill out certain areas that are stubborn but only 1 exercise per target area and I try to use lower rest periods to ensure the pump gets really marinated LOL! excuse my scientific term

From what I understand, when he’s taking more drugs. That’s the tipping point where more volume is required/beneficial.
