The LA Dodgers Are Doing EXACTLY What The MLB Feared...

- The Los Angeles Dodgers are a team that was highly criticized by so many people for what they did this offseason, and even though it was a bit much and really the mlb does have to do something about it, they did nothing wrong and you can't really get that mad at an owner that is willing to spend money to build a championship roster and not get mad at the cheap ones that keep their money in their pockets and watch superstars walk out the door. Anyways, the dodgers starting off the 2024 slow, but they are now really starting to heat up, shohei ohtani just hit his first walk off as a Dodger, and there is just so much to talk about with this team right now.

The owner? They're spending Shohei's money now. He built the team by deferring all that cash, plus t-shirts, hats and jerseys? The guy is an international star, and making the Dodgers more money than anybody could have imagined. He enabled the Dodgers to avoid the extra tax the MLB puts on rich clubs. The Dodger management were smart not to waste that cash, but they spent it wisely, bringing in great talent, which is very encouraging.
On top of that, Shohei didn't demand interest earned on his deferred payment. The Dodgers essentially are earning interest on it, because they are required to set the money aside for future payments.
Sorry but merch sales are distributed evenly to MLB clubs. MLB takes about 12 to 15% of sales from Fanatics and Nike then portions are send to clubs. So Royals, A's are able to receive the piece of pie. This distribution also includes international TV deals with Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Europe media using Shohei, Dodgers or any other ball clubs. Dodgers will however keep any concession sales, cable tv deal, and advertisement deals they sign. Hope this helps
@@mckasss9488 Kind of expands on what I was alluding to, that this guy is enriching clubs at every stop. See the attendance across the country? Amazing. He is pouring millions into their accounts just by showing up, pitching or not. He's changing the league, and making every player up their game, because if they don't, they lose. It's exciting.
@@mckasss9488 Whoa now: In Major League Baseball, 48% of local revenues are subject to revenue sharing and are distributed equally among all 30 teams, with each team receiving 3.3% of the total sum generated.
That's how desperate the dodgers are.😂 Screw the land grabbing dodgers.
How you forget to mention Max Muncy who hit 35 hrs and over 100 RBI’s last year who hits 5th when he’s in the lineup.
For real !!! 🤣
And their catcher that can hit 25 HR
They might trade him for Nolan arenado at trade deadline who knows. Perfect destination since he’s from California with goat defense
Dodgers, don't count your chickens before they hatch. I've seen the Dodgers choke in the playoffs many times.
Bc Muncy strikes out every single at bat, except for the solo home runs against shit teams
You HAVE to mention Pages. Brought him up and he is an absolute clutch for them at times with some power and speed.
I love pages but he was only hot for his first 2 weeks. Now he's slowed down and not looking good
Dang, I get Muncy hass been the IL for a week but you didn't need to just completely leave the man out
🤣🤣🤣
He’s been crazy too lmao
Shhhhh he's our secret weapon.
REAL!
Muncy is an underrated player especially at the postseason
The only thing I’m concerned about is facing the Padres in a short series. They seem to have figured the Dodgers out, at least for now anyway
It's the offense that needs to figure it out, especially the bottom of the order. I feel very good about the rotation this time.
Padres would face the dodgers best. Plenty of arms in the IL they don’t want to face . Manny wants no part of Dustin may
@@jeffreygarcia3539 Manny has been phoning it in all season. He has a great locked in contract and it's long enough that he can ride it in into retirement. He is a taking up a place in the line up and a significant part of the Padres Payroll.
The Padres get up for the challenges. They just played the Braves even in GA. But there has alway been some dog in that team, we'll see if they can keep it up, or fall apart when they are really challenged, like the playoff drive last season.
I think most teams are playing the Dodgers like it’s their last game. Especially for the Padres because they think they have sth to prove. With is awesome because great baseball is always a good thing.
I am a Giants fan but this Dodger team is going to be one of the best in history. Gotta give respect where it is due. I love baseball!
Bot comment
As a dodgers fan I respect you for saying that. I also do the same with the giants teams even when they won’t 3 titles in 5 seasons
Shohei is becoming the goat of not just baseball but all team sports.
First round exit.
Hella fake comment. Vamos GIGANTES
The Dodgers hasn't done anything that the MLB feared. They've done what was expected of them. There is nothing to fix at all.
I 100% agree. We had a slow start and since May 11th have been inconsistent. We lost Muncy and THIS guy obviously only scans over numbers without looking deep into anything... reading local news articles or watching ANTHYING. I've watched every at bat this year and can tell you this - when WE WERE cooking - it was a scary offense. But the fact that a team with THIS MUCH offense can be thrown off by (in my opinion) losing a 3rd basemen for a few weeks shows massive holes.
5/20/2024 Freddie Freeman’s 6th grand slam
5/20/24 and it was his sixth grand slam. I thought you were making a prediction and had to look up his career grand slams.
@@richstrobel thank you!!
This lineup is like playing a video game with stacked team / all star.
They need to add Jared jones from the pirates then they’re perfect
5/20-Yamamoto throws a 7-pitch inning against AZ.
Money alone doesn’t guarantee championships. Look at NFL, MLB teams with huge payrolls. LA has young talent from their farm clubs, coaching, good front office. All hitters from 1 to 9, all can hit on any given day. Playing with no pressure is easy when you are winning.
freddie freeman seems to have changed his swing to be more like shoehei. their stance is different, but the way he follows through looks IDENTICAL to ohtani. he really tries too get under it and swing up. loved his grand slam last night. this team got me watching baseball after a 25 year hiatus. loved the braves as a kid back when i collected baseball cards, but stopped in like the 7th grade when i got in to video games. now i watch the dodgers every single night and im really happy i chose to do so. love this team.
"talent" doesn't just happen. It's worked on...For Years.
Can't wait to see Ohtani with my grandsons this coming Sunday 5/26. Got my goat #17 hat ready to go !!!! The Love of the sport. Looking like Ohtani is inspiring other players to Remember WHY they got in the game & that's a Good thing
Meanwhile I'm taking my grandsons out hunting and fishing and teaching them something they can use when I'm gone instead of worshiping celebrities who don't give 2 craps if they exist or not.
They did not buy an All Star team other than Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Freeman. The other key players were traded and are homegrown.
Even with that, you can exclude Yamamoto since he was signed as unproven in the MLB.
@@ibestrokin Good point. You could say the only thing that made him an "All Star" when he was signed was how much they gave him.
@@fernando717 facts!
Facts like muncy which they acquired from the A’s in a trade and Mookie Betts from Boston for Verdugo (now a Yankees) and extend Betts
At this point I am having the best time in years being a Dodgers fan. Lets see what October brings.
Another disappointing end to season y’all are worse then cowboy fans
Dave Roberts is what October brings 😂
October means losing.
@@ap_produxtionsIf you said this in 2016 I'd agree with you, but since then the Dodgers have been in 3 of 7 World Series winning one. It's been 28 years since the Cowboys have been to the Superbowl. Say what you will about Dodgers fans, there is no denying the relevance of the team as of late. Cowboys get tons of attention despite having done next to nothing for nearly 30 years.
honestly - the effect that losing Muncy has had in the past 4 weeks shows there is NO guarantee in October.
Shohei Otani is MLB’s Michael Jordan. No matter you like it or not.
>MJ
Jordan never took May off!!!!!!!!!
Forgot to mention Max Muncy who has hit 184 home runs since joining the Dodgers in 2018. Muncy has at least 35 home runs in 4 of the years he's been with the Dodgers except for the covid year and in 2022 when he hit 21 home runs when recovering from a severe shoulder injury the year prior. Muncy hit 36 home runs in 2023. As of this post, Muncy has 9 home runs so far in 2024. The dude is a home run hitting machine.
Don’t sleep on Mad Max 💪
The thing that concerns me are the times their bats suddenly go silent and them looking like they have no energy. Even the last couple games where they won most of them (mostly barely), they too often score all of their runs in one inning. No getting the guy in from 3rd with nobody out. No sacrifice flies or even ground ball to get a runner home in that situation and especially with 1 out the vast majority of the time. Our wins in extras are very concerning in the same way per their requiring to get a hit to score. It is ridiculous that nobody bunts or chokes up in that situation and other similar ones like when facing tough pitching. At the end of the day, I want my Dodgers to win, but this constant need to come up with the big hit regardless of the situation is not the way to win most consistently and especially when the games are close.
There is no question the dodgers have star power, but they still can be beat and this is coming from a dodger fan, tonight's game is a perfect example they were up early big then got complacent, stopped hitting. They have to get the mindset to destroy teams and keep playing hard.i also see them go flat in games, can't have that
yeah that monster in Philly is hungry..and they eating
I would love them to win it all but in the mean time, they are fun to watch.
My happiest day of the year is when the Red Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers are KO'ed from the playoffs.
You forgot about muncy
Muncy is awesome. That guy is a solid hitter, but he's guarantee to soak up pitches. Even if you strike him out you're going to spend like 10 pitches on him.

Losing Muncy is why we lost pace with Phillies/Yankees - not even mentioning this is BS
Nobody complained about the Yankees doing the same thing in the 90s. Glad we got rid of Frank McCourt.
Easy Dodgers Nation be crying if the Mighty Yankees were spending 1 billion for this season and 1 more thing the Yankess have never spend 1 billion in a season lol easy there about the Mighty Yankees
@@MarioRuiz-v4x think about what the Yankees spent in the 90s with inflation to 2024 it comes out the same. And the Dodgers didn't rob every other team of their free agents, like Oakland and Boston.
Literally everyone complained about the Yankees, no offense, but were you even alive in the 90's? You don't remember everyone calling them the Bankees?
Right on. The Yankees do it every decade or try to. But again a 5 or 7 game series anyone can do anything.
Is because they had an owner that care about the fan base and wanted to win but never took it to a billion LOL is what I'm saying
Dodgers is an insane team. The other LA team is cheap as hell. And Monday night demonstrated what happens if a a pitcher gets a little shaky. Freeman hits a grandslam and follows up with a back to back HRs. Ohtani is bunting to get on base now for Freeman, smith and Hernandez.
Are*
What I like about the dodgers is that they have money and they’ll spend they aren’t cheap. But at the same time they don’t waste money either and they always get their money’s worth and get good value for their money. I find it very respectable, they have a great farm system on top of that and develop players well.
Mookie, Ohthanisan, and Freeman...THE MV3!
How can you talk about the Dodgers without mentioning Max Muncy? F this channel.
That was a lot of - This guys going to be good, that guys going to be good.
No, the MLB does not need to do anything about this. Granted I’m a Dodger fan, but my team is not going to be able to have an offseason like this for several years. All the big market teams have the ability to do this, and the small market teams seem unwilling to increase their size. This was a perfect storm for the Dodgers.
Haters were making fun of the dodgers this off-season for their spending. So if it fails, the haters win and if it succeeds, the haters whine that it’s unfair. Mental gymnastics abound
The scary thing tho is its really not even about this year for the Dodgers, its next year when Shohei can pitch again added him as a pitcher to that lineup *if he regains his pitching form* will be dangerous as hell.
People used to get mad at the Yankees and George Steinbrenner for spending a ton of money to win titles. Good players cost money. Get used to it. The NBA puts together super teams all the time
Will Smith can do everything. Great baseballer, last man standing in apocalypse, a fresh prince, gives slaps that reverberates around the world
My dodgers team are just barely getting started other teams better watch out
What I like to see is how the players support each other and how they seem to be having fun. I just started watching the Dodgers in 2023 and got hooked on Betts, Freeman, Smith, Muncy, and even a couple of the pitchers. But NOW, WOW! And next year, we will see Shohei on the other side of the baseball from the bat. It's going to be an exciting decade.
At the start of the season everyone was making fun of the dodgers let's keep thst same energy.
His follow thru swing is great to watch.
LA Dodgers are a dynasty
Shohei is a glass cannon. He's spent half his career injured because he is a delicate little porcelain doll.
Dodgers will easily draw 3 million fans in attendance. They should spend to put a good team on the field.
Surprisingly, Dodgers attendance is down compared to 2023.
@@wokeupmensinflation
But when other teams been doing it since forever no one gives a fuck. But once it’s the dodgers they all start crying. I remember when I was still watching the dodgers when they were horrible.’
We do this literally every year with the dodgers. They’ll win 120 games yet won’t make it out of the nlds
I didn't see all this hate when the Padres did this in 2022. Or when the Mets did this in 2023. The Yankees are also doing this now and will probably sign Soto to a crazy deal.
Owners when someone doesn’t use the moneyball strat and actually succeeds: 😦
Baseball had a 30% increase in attendance last year. They surpassed 70 million. How is this, an actual fact, proof that baseball is losing traction.
Subscribed. Had no idea that Ohtani had an elbow injury that prevents him from pitching but not hitting. Hope the umpires are calling a hitter's strike zone for him, as he's carrying the league seems to me.
MLB should do something about what exactly? Dodgers are signing players that want to come here, and they don’t have the highest payroll either.
Yeah they haven’t even won a 162 game season championship in over 30 years
The Dodgers have a phenomenal farm system that bring’s up amazing players, and give them their start …….
OVER 1 billion dollars 2 PLAYERS..
i was at the game where mookie homered and saluted lebron as he reached home. they hate us cause they ain’t us!!
Casual Giants fan here. I watched the Dodgers only bc of Showtime Ohtani😂
Giants are one of the team that don’t have a star player
How about PAGES,.. A rookie.. He is good and hit a crucial one too..
I’m a padres fan, and before you ask I’m also a huge LA Rams fan so I probably got this in my recommended after watching OTA news.
Anyways the only person I don’t hate on the dodgers is Ohtani. He’s a freaking unicorn and regardless of if he’s our rival for years to come he’s still just an amazing player with so much potential.
….
Every other dodger can eat it tho 😈
Let's hope we don't have teams cheating like the astros again
Dodgers gonna be champs, again.
Why? You guys consistently win 100 games, and just like the Braves lose to actually clutch teams in the playoffs...
@RandallBalls past is the past. New team will dominate
@@RandallBallsrelax only 2 seasons since we lost lame, well 3. And 2 for the brave. You guys make it seem like we’ve no success.
They always get knocked off in the playoffs but they do have ohtani
Talk is cheap…yakyak
Yeah I feared them playing the biggest sports gambler in professional sports history and acting like he didn't do anything because he's too important for the sport. And they're doing it
Is Ohrani pitching anymore? I’ve seen no highlights of him on the mound, and he wasn’t mentioned here as part of the pitching rotation.
FYI... the Dodgers do not get revenue from parking. Part of the agreement of the sale from Frank McCourt was while the Guggenheim Group purchased the team and the Stadium, Frank McCourt kept rights to the parking lot and the profits from parking revenue.
City of LA, do NOT approve Frank McCourts gondola to Dodger Stadium. Increase shuttle transportation from Union Station to the stadium. It's already less than half the price of regular parking at McCourt's Dodger Stadium parking lots.
That's one billionaire that's got to go!!!
Building a super team? Honestly that is what makes baseball still interesting
I cliked on a video that said 99k views and it flipped to 100k.
The money from parking does not go to the dodgers. Frank McCourt owns the parking lots the last I herd.
Or..you could be like the Mets and overspend and get nowhere.
Yet, The Cleveland Guardians have a better record with a payroll under 70 million. 😂😂😂😂😂

So, are you proposing that MLB decide who a player can sign with, based on his past performance, popularity, potential salary etc?
Why do they have to do something about it though? The Yanks got away with it for literally decades
it’s finally clear that dodgers have way more money and have a smarter coach
I've hated the Dodgers since birth, but I seriously hope they win the World Series this year. If nothing else than to see everyone cry about it.
MLB should close that loophole deferring money like that.
This is the reason a salary cap needs to be put into place. Teams with all the money get the best players money can buy. It’s not a level playing field when the same big market teams cherry pick the best players from each team. Pretty sure MLB wants a Dodgers/Yankees World Series every year. Just get rid of all the teams except those two. And start a better league with the remaining 28 teams on an even playing field
The divisional series should be best of 7. It’s not fair to win 116 games and have a bad 3 game stretch and your season is over. Dodgers would’ve won 2 more championships if it was best of 7 the last 10 year
If they don't take 6+ outta the next 12 years I'll be surprised.
Spot on. Although Mookie isn’t really playing a completely new position. He played infield until the Red Sox needed him to play outfield.
And yet, the Phillies, Yankees, Guardians and the Royals have better records currently. Frankly, it’s embarrassing that the Dodgers haven’t won 40 by now.
He should come back as a relief pitcher as needed
Shoei is the best MLB player for sure. Dodgers would have been dumb to not get him. Teams were lined up to sign him
the glaze is crazy
Bro really forgot about Gavin stone !!
AND pages.. smh
Justice for Ippei ✊️ Shohei left him for dead.
The dodgers are able to spend that much money because theyre in a MASSIVE metro area... Baseball needs a hard salary cap to make it fair for smaller areas. Its pretty stupid to just let big markets destroy small markets purely on revenue
The MLB is losing traction because you cant even watch the games on TV anymore. I grew up watching every Braves game on TBS but cant even find them on tv now
The owner? You mean owner since there is many of them they also have a board of directors. They quite literally have far too much money around this team. Net worth of just the Guggenheim group is around 25 billion dollars
Turns out if you buy the best players you win baseball games 🤷🏻♂️.
The Yankees and Red Sox have been spending big for years.
Somehow Dave Roberts will find a way to lose in the playoffs
haha! Lets Gooo.... Dodgers baby!!! 2024
I guess you'll want to throw your phone in the trash again next off-season when they sign Roki Sasaki?
As a Red Sox fan this all makes me sick. I still love you Mookie. :( I miss u boo
This got recommended to me after the dodgers lost their 5th game in a row lmao
Everything went up in price...it cost to be a Dodger fan
Alright, I want this team to win one WS before I start hating them lmao
Fuck it, time for another Yankees vs Dodgers World Series
I have no issue betting yanks or dodgers -1.5. Don't even worry about it. Shohei is good, but I don't even know what he sounds like. Has no personality. I just know he likes to gamble.
5-5 over their last 10. Shaking in my boots
Do parking revenues for Dodger Stadium go to Frank McCourt and not the Dodger organization?
This is why I hate LA and NY any big market team has such an unfair advantage
Nothing wrong with being a beast of a team even tho I hate the dodgers. Respect they are doing baseball right.
What losing to the dbacks in a series? 😂😂😂
Are we watching the same Dodgers? They are 0-4 -with their normal lineup- in bullpen games, their RISP game is mediocre at best, they have a horrible bullpen right now, freddie isn’t playing at HOF freddie levels.. this is an NL West champ team at best, not an NLCS contender.
