  • Here is what I found upon teardown of the Hatz E79 from my previous video • New project-another Ha...
Missing are 2 Valve Locks, the Fuel Tank and Lifting Ring, 1 Banjo Fitting and 2 Banjo Bolts.
The piston rings were seized but freed up easily. The Injection pump and Injector will need some attention but are usable.
All else should just be cleaning and painting.

Good work. Interesting cam shaft arrangement. Looks like you can move the lobes. Not sure I like diesels with a splash oiler though.

Thank you for the comment. IIRC the cam lobes are replaceable. I'm not a fan of splash oiling either, but based on the few I've seen, the oiling system in these particular engines works quite well. I've not seen one with oil-starved bearings; and based on the age (1960's) I feel they have proven themselves.
However, I'm not comfortable turning any small diesel over 2000 RPM for extended periods of time, no matter the brand or oiling system used.
I usually turn these Hatz 1200 to 1500 RPM on cement mixers and they seem quite happy at that speed.

@@crazyenginewiz Fair enough. I suppose it depends on the gearing but cement mixers don't need a great deal of revs.
