Krieger didn't hit any wrong note, the modal acid solo is meant to be that way, full of dissonance; if you listen to the free modal jazz of John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy era (which totally inspired Krieger), you hear the same "wrong notes" that are just dissonances on modal scales, meant to be exactly the way as they are.
