I'm doing my own build- I really want to spend a good chunk on windows. I watched a few of your videos and thought Infinity was the way to go- but then I'm told it's only for replacement? But I read issues with Elevate (both Marvin)...I want to have window installers manage my install. Wish we were building here, I'd trust your direction. My father's 6,000 sq foot home had his sills rot because they did not flash properly. I want to prevent that issue...I'll still come by!

We bought a new build house from a builder who has does 'high end homes'. Flooring looked great, finished everywhere looked great. Did we look at the windows? No, we didn't. Here we are just one year later having to replace all the windows (and after three bids from three different folks, ended up going with a recommendation from Jeff's List). Every one of the folks who looked at the windows thought we were crazy for wanting to replace the windows until they came out to see them in person. The second tip about spending the money for the right product cannot be overstated. Now we're going to toss 22 windows into the landfill when if the contractor had spent just a bit more money, we wouldn't have to spend significantly more replacing them this soon.
The biggest disappointment is how undervalued the Window & Door packages are from most builders when they are the biggest value on Energy Efficiency in the home along with the combined curb appeal.
I’m wondering if you have any input I have two large picture windows in the front of house need to replace one is a bay the other flat picture window with casements on both sides thinking of changing bay window just to the flat picture window and doing double hung instead of a Casements any thought Thanks

It sounds like you have a good plan in mind. The only thing I can think of is to investigate whether you need to do any framing to modify the opening.
