Mate this is a simple game changer I had to thank you for this. I was standing close to every club and I’ve always tried many things to eliminate that early extension
I like Butch Harmon check where you take your right hand off shaft and try to put it back. Take your posture and grip, now take the right hand off - if you’re correct distance from ball the hand will return to same place. If it goes on the shaft too high, you’re too close to the ball. If it goes on too low ( below left hand) then you’r too far away I do this and it’s a really good and easy checkpoint 😀
Issue i battle with and was causing issues with balance. Messed around with my swing thinking it was that. Eventually tried a new pre-shot routine and fixed it. Great tip Jonathan.
It's like you'e read my mind, Jonathan. Was just thinking about this today. Hey I am also a CP golfer. I find it hard to have the thumb of my lead hand running dow the shaft in my grip. Is there and problem if I wrap it around instead?
Bryson sets up to the ball in a very different way with a locked out range of motion in his lead arm, with the addition of super upright clubs. Unless you do his same set up with his upright clubs, I wouldn’t recommend copying him
@@jchowngolf Oh thank you very much for the reply. I understand now! I have no desire to copy him, his swing and setup give me anxiety. I am more enchanted with swings like Oosthuizen, Els etc, but I was just curious how Bryson can be so consistent with a dreadfully uncomftable looking setup and swing...

You are 100% correct been trying everything to fix my swing I stood further away - bingo!

That works too 👍🏼

I’ll be trying this one out next time I’m out. 👍🏻👍🏻cheers Jonathan
Hi, is this working with every Club in the bag? Even driver and hyprids? Greetings
Great tip, I'll try it out at my next opportunity. Thanks Jonathan 👍

Helpful thanks
Holy hell, I stand WAY too close to it. Great tip, feels like there’s actually room to come through.
That’s definitely the more common distance as a fault. Glad you liked it 👍🏼
Does this tip work with the Driver as well?
Yes but lift the toe of the club a bit so it’s not flat, slightly bend the hips and legs to have the shaft in line with the belt
During your practice swing with no tension see where the club passes due to inertia pulling on your arms, that will determine the correct distance.
Why didn’t you cover the driver? Does your tip still apply for driver? 3 wood?
Same stand true for Fairway Woods and the Driver?
I feel comfortable a tiny bit more away than the hang low with driver and woods but it depends on arm length. Hang low is a good template 👍🏼
This makes a lot of sense to me, but what about guys like Bryson, who seem to stand a mile away from the ball and are super consistent?

Flushing the 7, pushing the 5. New clubs. Thought it was the lie. Turns out I was too close to the ball.
How many videos can there be on the golf swing? Is it just wiser to have lessons rather than looking at TH-cam videos?
