You sound like a university professor, your slow and detailed explanation makes for optimal understanding, thank you very much sir!
My 2006 Trailblazer 4.2L LTZ is giving me problems that have made me waste a lot of money but watching this video,
and adding the suggestion of many mechanics it could be that the problem is in this "poorly designed" fuse box that bothers more than one Chevy owner.
The engine works perfectly, a lot of power, excellent consumption and everything OK but at idle the engine turns off but starts immediately very well,
The problem is becoming more and more frequent and it is just when the RPM is 500 at a traffic light or without acceleration, I must say that unlike the other cases I have read, the hotter the engine is (operating temperature) the less frequently it turns off , it is never at high RPM, it is always at low (idle)
I will follow in your footsteps Professor Wayne and return to you when I am done.
    Greetings to all.

Yes, fuse box problems are more likely to happen more when heated up. It's a shame that our computerized cars don't give us much information unless we purchase expensive computer systems to communicate with the computer.
At least it is not leaving you stranded, but starts back up easily.
Obviously the ideal thing would be to have a readout of what is happening when it stops.
Does it stop with a stutter, or does it stop as if someone turned the key off?
Since it runs better when hot, then there is probably a condition that is failing, but when the engine is hot it's able to handle it better, like a lack of fuel. But fuel pump problems usually affect higher rmp, especially accelerating. A fuel pressure test would be any easy check if the car has a test connector that is easy to access. My 2002 has a strange size connector by the fuel filter.

Wayne this video was super helpful this past week. The tricks to remove the cover and to disassemble the assembly then the process to reassemble was super helpful!! Thanks indeed for the very thorough video effort! I’m fortunate to have an Amscope which I use for micro-soldering which if I did not have I don’t think I could have found the crack or performed the jumper bypass soldering to fix this issue. Much thanks !!

Thanks. It's awesome, that because of the internet, we can watch other people take things apart, and repair them, before doing the task ourselves.
The free availability of information is at risk because big corporations, and the system, wants to limit the flow of information. So many people just don't realize how bad the system is, because the system controls the flow.

Thank you for this. I am taking apart a panel on a 2006 Ford Freestar, and it has those same bolts holding it together. Been looking all over, even found a video where the guy had already drilled them out and did not show any info on how he did it.
SO thank you. Those bolts were the main thing I couldn't figure out, now I am on track to get my vehicle back on the road, AND have some Air Conditioning! Hooray!

That's great! I'm glad it helped. Sometimes it's hard to tell how to fix something without tearing it up first to see how to properly take it apart.
The other method is watching a video of someone else taking it apart. It's great that we are able to watch other people on the internet fix things. But it's discouraging with how the big g is the big c.

Bought a used 1 and still would not start. Thought what the hell. Dang cluster, well maybe needs GM dealer to reprogram. Thats when they said no, fuse box dead. Im just wondering if i solder that redwire back and check the main 125 volt black fuse in front if my problem may be solved? I cant get the last 2 or 3 connectors off the dang nox underneath toward the backside. Guess i just need to tap the screws harder. Either way, thanks for the video. Great video Wayne! I have a friends vehicle over for repair.. chasing a gremlin it seems.. tons of codes and the vehicle will randomly shut off as you drive requiring 5-10 minutes until it will start again.. the longer you drive the more frequently it occurs.. also it seems to not happen as much in cooler weather.. I'm thinking its the fuse block.. how should I repair if I find a bad connection? Thanks in advanced!

    • @WayneSallee-comTech
      @WayneSallee-comTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, sounds like a bad connection. Look up all the codes, and find the common denominator. Something is probably getting hot. A bad connection carrying electricity for all those things that are failing, is probably causing a power line (probably ground line) to get hot. high resistance produces increased heat. Increased heat produces expansion, causing the connection to get worse. One way to test such, is with a hair dryer to heat up a suspected spot, and see if the connection gets worse.
As for fixing a fuse box, if one of those wires are broken, it can be replaced or soldered. If soldered, the wire would need to be soldered off of the fuse box, so as to not melt the plastic. Replacing the wire would be easier.

I also just put in a new ECU: but I cant get beyond the 30min key relearn due to the relays clicking away etc. : First round the pump was kicking in, injectors madly clicking- and ended up hydrolocking my engine w fuel! Hello, there! I'm having issues with my '02 trailblazer and I believe they're related to the fuse box.
I just replaced the valve cover gasket, and I had to remove the negative battery terminal. Upon doing this, I hit a rod connected to the fuse bose and some sparks resulted from the contact. When i put everything back together, I noticed my windows won't roll up or down, it wont lock, and the lights on my dash dont light up, except for the warning lights.
I checked the fuses corresponding to the windows and they seem fine
I checked a few fuses with a light checker, no light. If the fuse are good, could the space they go in be blown?
    Any information will be useful..
Thank you and have a nice day.

If you don't have a volt meter, get one. Even a cheap meter will do. With the black lead on ground, and the meter in voltage mode, test both contact points on the fuses.
I'm assuming that you had the cover on the fuse box, so that would mean that you probably grounded the center post shorting out the big flat fuse that is directly connected to that post. If that fuse is blown, then replace it, and you should then be all good.

It could be, but it also could be a lot of other things. Whatever it is, it seems to be a problem when something gets hot. Those check engine lights are rather dumb. If cars were made right, you would have a computer screen in your car that would tell what's wrong, and how to replace it. The ideal thing would be to figure out if it is just one cylinder or all of them. Ideally that would be done with a scan tool. But one option, is to disconnect each cylinder at a time, and see if one causes less of a change than the others.
If all cylinders seem the same, then it might be something external of the engine. Testing on a cold engine with different parts heated up with a hair dryer, can often find the problem. So for example if the fuse box was heated up with a hair dryer, and that caused it to start failing, then you have found the problem.

@@WayneSallee-comTech thanks for your reply sir, one more thing that everything is great and pickup is really good when i push the gas shifting is also good when pushing, so i thought there is nothing wrong with internals of the engine and it is 2.4 ls 2010 model. Can it be more of fuel pump also or any exhaust problem (like back pressure when getting hot ) or should i go for electrical things ?

    • @WayneSallee-comTech
      @WayneSallee-comTech  ปีที่แล้ว

@@simarjotsingh1545 It does not sound like a fuel pump issue, or back pressure, as that usually affects acceleration. It sounds like you have more of an idle problem. When a car first starts up, it runs at a higher rmp, then shortly as the car warms up a little, the idle goes down. It could be a timing issue like a stretched timing chain. It's really a shame that getting full computer access to what is going on, is so costly. Right To Repair is a world wide movement, because manufactures want people to not be able to repair their products.

@@simarjotsingh1545 There are a lot of parts that have to have the right timing such as valves, injection, and ignition. But that's getting beyond my experience.

Correct. I suspected a problem, but found no defects, and did not fix anything in the video.

@@juarezvivo-sc2qi That was a long time ago, but it was an intermittent problem. I might have been chasing down a transmission problem where it would sometimes shift hard on startup when hot. See my replace ignition switch video. My transmission problem ended up being an easy to replace actuator in the transmission that had either gone bad, or the bad connection to the actuator. One caused the other. One of the connections on the actuator had gotten hot and oxidized, and the plastic part had become brittle.
Intermittent problems are always more trouble to troubleshoot. I soldered some wires, and an LED that I could see while driving, to my head lights relay to troubleshoot an intermittent headlight problem. I was able to catch it once, but wanted to catch it a second time to make sure I saw it right, and then it never has messed up again for over a year now.

Things are getting bad fast. Big corporations are taking away our freedoms, and the system won't break up the monopolies because the system needs big tech to take control. It used to be said that the Internet was the great equalizer, but that is becoming less true, as the system is blocking and censoring heavier and heavier. Computers are great, but computers and operating systems are being designed to control us, instead of us controlling the computers. That's why I use free open source Linux. The ability to repair things is becoming a big issue.
