I think the Emperor would form an Alliance with the Silent King to fight the Tyranids (as well as the chaos) and with the Eldar to destroy chaos and nurse the Imperium's wounds, the orks, tyranids and chaos will be enemies as always, but I have no idea about his impression on the Tau.
The second the emperor learned about the Tau he'd instantly join them and wage a second great crusade to make sure the Tau Empire are the ones to rule the galaxy for all eternity.

He would most likely see the Tau as an interesting pet race. Something to keep in mind is that the Tau are unironically the closest thing humanity was to the golden age of technology, they just lack the creativity and also ironically suffer the political issues Mankind currently suffers from, which harshly limits their progress of technology. The emperor would most likely see the Tau as his greatest, and possibly only chance to restart Humanities golden age of technology, the mechanicus are capable builders, but what they've constructed over the Millennia are nowhere near as impressive as what the Tau has managed to construct in their little corner of the universe. And keep in mind too, these guys built all that with a massive resource and information handicap being locked behind a warp storm. The silent king (and by extension the Necrons) technology could be theoretically pillaged and reverse engineered by the Mechanicus. But it would take an unimaginably long amount of time, and would probably remind the Emperor of the age of iron. So at best, it would be significantly sanctioned and heavily monitored progress by the emperor himself. At worst, it would be thrown in the trash compactor and never even considered. The emperor would definitely ally with the Tau, and Parley with the Necrons. But the Tau are more of a boon to the Emperors original aims for humanity, so while Humanity might hate Xenos. the Tau are a race the emperor and by extension Roboute would happily accept. Afaik Roboute has even thrown around a time or two in lore that Humanity should consider an alliance with the Tau. Or at least remain on friendly terms.
If he did decide to say "fuck it, we ball" and let the people worship him as a god, I can't help but imagine he'd still be wanting to make some changes to the Imperial Cult and clear up some misunderstandings about what he wanted or meant.

The most important thing is, if he returned, he'd have to admit faith is not the enemy of Mankind, but its greatest ally. Without faith in him, he'd probably be dead and the Imperium would be destroyed. But would he ever admit it?
I think he'd just see the rotting carcass the Imperium became and reach the same conclusion he did before, but even harder now. He probably hardly cares if he lives or not, since humanity reached its peak without him, and it should be able to again given enough time. If anything he'd think the intergalactic super religion only served to stall progress and promote stagnation.

Omegon has already not yet left the setting at all, so his return would result in a massive shakeup wherupon Guilliman would continue doing exactly what he has been doing, and the Lion would being his reformed dark angles out into the open, fighting tooth and nail alongside there brothers from the shadows in order to keep the enemies of the imperium from losing too hard and exposing the fact Omegon is permadead.
If he were to be resurrected, I think there would be a big arc about reuniting Big E on the warp and Big E on the golden throne I think the reason why he did not want to be resurrected has to be something to do with his essence (compassion) that he throw away to the warp to fight Horus The faith humanity have on Big E may gets accumulated into his essence that he throw away into the warp instead of Big E on the throne, and current lackluster help by the Emperor is a communication between these two souls are sometimes ineffective, Big E on the warp wants to help people (since he is compassion) by sending the legion of the damned or living saints but Big E on the throne is intelligible, and resurrecting the one on the throne without the one on the warp not only would make him more cold and ruthless but also he would not get all that accumulated power And + Blackstone would be the key to win this whole bloody thing, and I feel that if the emperor were to be resurrected, this would be his main primary research Humanity can still fight without the warp, but other than the necrons, other factions are absolutely f'd, orks, eldar, chaos, and tyranids, heavily relies on the warp As for the Tau? one fart is enough with Big E back in the settings
I mean, I feel like at this point, he’d almost need to be. I don’t know what GW thinks they’re doing, but from my perspective, it really feels like every faction is right on the brink of regaining a huge chunk of their former power. Like Ghazgull is very close to finally becoming a proper Krork, among many other things for all the other factions I’m too lazy to list. And with the threat of the Tyrannids, I feel like every other faction really needs the massive boost they’re seemingly all being teased as getting, and if they do, the emperor returning would be the only way for humanity to remain on an equal playing field to all the other factions.
I think instead of resurrecting the throne Emperor, they'll keep the Emperor on the throne and bring back the Starchild to power or even guide the Imperium, given they've brought back hints of him in the setting.
The buff they are hinting at with Humanity is the Mechanicus messing around and "improving" on gene seed, as well as the Mechanicus as a whole being allowed a bit more openly by Roboute to commit tech heresy as long as it furthers the goals of Humanity, or better arms the space marines. the emperor becoming more active is more a side effect of humanity not getting the tech heresy buff yet, and GW writing themselves into a corner. He will likely go back to bed after Roboute offically gives the thumbs up to go complete heresy mode for the mechanicus.
I like the idea if the Emperor being restored, getting up from the throne, and just walking out of the imperial palace not saying a word and flipping everyone off on his way out to clean shit up.
I like my idea on Valdor finding the Star Child and acting as his will while that part of E grows enough in power to fully manifest to lead over his group while Skeletor keeps the power flowing from that end. Gil, Star Child, Valdor and Skeletor teaming up as one would give them a large boost while keeping him mostly on the throne.

I would think every last life on Terra, Mars, the entire Sol System would be extinguished and absorbed by this new _God._ The sections of the Warp where "the Emperor's influence" is observed is a giant fire storm of burning angels consuming everything, souls and daemons alike. I think the God-Emperor coming into being would burn the galaxy clean as he is no longer the Emperor we remember.
To me the more interesting eventuality is the Emperor not returning to as he was before, but "coming back wrong". And maybe as more than one entity at the same time. This WOULD bring about a civil war.
Ideal Good 40k ending: The emperor returns, and speaks with the silent king and the eldar leaders. They work together to get rid of the orks, chaos and the tyranids, and possibly the dark eldar as well. Once the galaxy is cleansed the 3 empires agree to share some of their tech and aid one another. Humans and eldar help the necrons return to flesh and blood, the eldar are given many planets back and humanity stops its aggressive nature since it is no longer under constant threat. The 3 factions eventually manage to reach not only peace but coexistence, with the Tau possibly joining some time later. The galaxy enters an era of peace that seems like it'll last for millenia to come
I don't remember who said it in the books but with every sacrifice the emperors physical form/vessel gains more of its old strength back but he has also grown in ability by not being shackled, constrained by his physical form for so long that it has helped develop his metaphysical self to a point that it is starting to reach realms similar to the chaos gods. And that once the emperor has attained a sufficient metaphysical strength and his physical form, vessel has healed and been improved to wield the full might of his new cosmic power he will return even more powerful then he was before.
There was a fanfic I remember reading where (I think) the Emperor died and became a new god. He fights Tzeentch for Magnus and turns him into an Imperial "Daemon Prince." Basically the same winged-cyclops monster but painted gold. :)
I believe the Captain General of the Custodes won Magnus' soul back of Tzeentch in a game of Paradox Billiards Vostroyan Roulette Fourth Dimensional Hypercube Chess Strip Poker
It would depend a lot on how he is revived, if only his body is then nothing would change while if they somehow fixed his soul (litterly impossible) then the scenario you mentioned could play out.
Like you alluded to, the emperor was self-nerfing in the Great Crusade. Big E with no limits and 10,000 of spiritual gains, knowledge accumulated in the warp, and his body being a conduit for millions of psykers…I think he is an instant win tbh. It’s just a matter of when, not if. What is more likely is that they create an emperor vessel to put a fraction of his power into. Be that a clone or any number of things. I think the entity that was once the emperor would agree to that if the vessel or host was suitable. What I also think will happen before that is you see other primarchs return.
I think the biggest advantage is that Big E was a super scientist, which means what is now considered a lost STC would once again be common knowledge. The Imperium would get a technology boost across the board.
TBH there is many maybes here, emperor could be revived by getting him off the throne but that would blow up terra and doom the imperium, he could somehow be healed and retain all his power but if its done without part of his soul that he cast off before facing horus(his good side) he could become a horrible emotionless ruler and tyrant (much worse than he was before), perfect revival would be that he gets his entire soul patched up together and hes fully healed and mobile being able to get off the golden throne, but even then what he does is up in the air. Some of the examples are would he really want to close the rift? sure it fked the imperium over and gives chaos god more influence but its also stated that it was a massive power boost for the emperor as well, would he want to destroy the church or not ? only reason he forbid everyone from worship is because denying gods would weaken chaos but at this point it may be too late so he might as well take the power up for himself, another potentional thing is maybe imperium will finally ally some xenos races like eldar, tau or them totally not dwarves since noone else in the imperium can really do it without getting called a fkin heretic and starting a civil war

I'm pretty sure the emperor would not be happy when he sees some of the changes that was made to the imperium. There are some things that would even piss him off. But if you look at it from a different perspective, this could serve as the greatest morale booster the Imperium desperately needs. The soldiers of the Imperium of man would fight harder and more ferociously on all fronts with so much morale and vigor, that it could even turn the tide of an entire War
(This is a tad long) My personal opinion is that the Emperor HAS to come back. Three reasons why: 1) The game, lore wise is a bit stagnant right now. 2) Doing so would allow GW to sell new models (we know how they love that) and second push for more stories, 3) Finally, it was here or another channel where Guilliman realized the Imperium had 500 years (at best) and 200 years (at worst) before the combined enemies consumed them (Spiritually or physically) In other words, you either rip the bandaid off NOW, or do so as a last resort. There is nothing that says the Emperor can't multi-task. Activate Alpha Legion, summon Leman Russ from {wherever}, work with the Eldar to fix the Infinity Gate (in exchange for dealing with the Drukkhari), make a deal with the Silent King to stymy the 'Nids (*) (seriously are their fleets on cruise control?), hand Chaos their lunch, forge a temporary truce with the Orks and deal with Angron, etc., etc. (*) These guys are the turd in the punchbowl.

Lumen sounds pretty cool. I’d like to check out the study he mentioned to see if it’s credible. I’m a Respiratory Therapist and during school we learn about the “equipment” that can measure you exhale and determine how many calories you’re burning. I have never worked to a hospital that does this though.

I think he'd just see the rotting carcass the Imperium became and reach the same conclusion he did before, but even harder now. He probably hardly cares if he lives or not, since humanity reached its peak without him, and it should be able to again given enough time. If anything he'd think the intergalactic super religion only served to stall progress and promote stagnation.

If he were to be resurrected, I think there would be a big arc about reuniting Big E on the warp and Big E on the golden throne
I think the reason why he did not want to be resurrected has to be something to do with his essence (compassion) that he throw away to the warp to fight Horus
The faith humanity have on Big E may gets accumulated into his essence that he throw away into the warp instead of Big E on the throne, and current lackluster help by the Emperor is a communication between these two souls are sometimes ineffective, Big E on the warp wants to help people (since he is compassion) by sending the legion of the damned or living saints but Big E on the throne is intelligible, and resurrecting the one on the throne without the one on the warp not only would make him more cold and ruthless but also he would not get all that accumulated power
And + Blackstone would be the key to win this whole bloody thing, and I feel that if the emperor were to be resurrected, this would be his main primary research
Humanity can still fight without the warp, but other than the necrons, other factions are absolutely f'd, orks, eldar, chaos, and tyranids, heavily relies on the warp
As for the Tau? one fart is enough with Big E back in the settings
I mean, I feel like at this point, he’d almost need to be. I don’t know what GW thinks they’re doing, but from my perspective, it really feels like every faction is right on the brink of regaining a huge chunk of their former power. Like Ghazgull is very close to finally becoming a proper Krork, among many other things for all the other factions I’m too lazy to list.
And with the threat of the Tyrannids, I feel like every other faction really needs the massive boost they’re seemingly all being teased as getting, and if they do, the emperor returning would be the only way for humanity to remain on an equal playing field to all the other factions.
I think instead of resurrecting the throne Emperor, they'll keep the Emperor on the throne and bring back the Starchild to power or even guide the Imperium, given they've brought back hints of him in the setting.
The buff they are hinting at with Humanity is the Mechanicus messing around and "improving" on gene seed, as well as the Mechanicus as a whole being allowed a bit more openly by Roboute to commit tech heresy as long as it furthers the goals of Humanity, or better arms the space marines.
the emperor becoming more active is more a side effect of humanity not getting the tech heresy buff yet, and GW writing themselves into a corner. He will likely go back to bed after Roboute offically gives the thumbs up to go complete heresy mode for the mechanicus.

I like my idea on Valdor finding the Star Child and acting as his will while that part of E grows enough in power to fully manifest to lead over his group while Skeletor keeps the power flowing from that end.

I would think every last life on Terra, Mars, the entire Sol System would be extinguished and absorbed by this new _God._ The sections of the Warp where "the Emperor's influence" is observed is a giant fire storm of burning angels consuming everything, souls and daemons alike. I think the God-Emperor coming into being would burn the galaxy clean as he is no longer the Emperor we remember.

To me the more interesting eventuality is the Emperor not returning to as he was before, but "coming back wrong". And maybe as more than one entity at the same time. This WOULD bring about a civil war.
Golden Throne can get it's power cord cut if something unexpected happens. Like corpse showing signs of stirring.
THE EMPEROR PROTECTS
Ideal Good 40k ending: The emperor returns, and speaks with the silent king and the eldar leaders. They work together to get rid of the orks, chaos and the tyranids, and possibly the dark eldar as well.
Once the galaxy is cleansed the 3 empires agree to share some of their tech and aid one another. Humans and eldar help the necrons return to flesh and blood, the eldar are given many planets back and humanity stops its aggressive nature since it is no longer under constant threat. The 3 factions eventually manage to reach not only peace but coexistence, with the Tau possibly joining some time later.
The galaxy enters an era of peace that seems like it'll last for millenia to come

I don't remember who said it in the books but with every sacrifice the emperors physical form/vessel gains more of its old strength back but he has also grown in ability by not being shackled, constrained by his physical form for so long that it has helped develop his metaphysical self to a point that it is starting to reach realms similar to the chaos gods.
And that once the emperor has attained a sufficient metaphysical strength and his physical form, vessel has healed and been improved to wield the full might of his new cosmic power he will return even more powerful then he was before.
There was a fanfic I remember reading where (I think) the Emperor died and became a new god. He fights Tzeentch for Magnus and turns him into an Imperial "Daemon Prince." Basically the same winged-cyclops monster but painted gold. :)

What if the emperor demands a clone body and he will give it enough part of his consciousness a separate entity from himself but works as one.
It would depend a lot on how he is revived, if only his body is then nothing would change while if they somehow fixed his soul (litterly impossible) then the scenario you mentioned could play out.

Like you alluded to, the emperor was self-nerfing in the Great Crusade. Big E with no limits and 10,000 of spiritual gains, knowledge accumulated in the warp, and his body being a conduit for millions of psykers…I think he is an instant win tbh. It’s just a matter of when, not if.
What is more likely is that they create an emperor vessel to put a fraction of his power into. Be that a clone or any number of things. I think the entity that was once the emperor would agree to that if the vessel or host was suitable. What I also think will happen before that is you see other primarchs return.
Plot twist: Each emperor shard becomes separate person, which results in... complete chaos does not give justice for this event.

I think the biggest advantage is that Big E was a super scientist, which means what is now considered a lost STC would once again be common knowledge. The Imperium would get a technology boost across the board.
Plus it would leave G-Man running the Imperium... which honestly, he's probably better at than Big E.
TBH there is many maybes here, emperor could be revived by getting him off the throne but that would blow up terra and doom the imperium, he could somehow be healed and retain all his power but if its done without part of his soul that he cast off before facing horus(his good side) he could become a horrible emotionless ruler and tyrant (much worse than he was before), perfect revival would be that he gets his entire soul patched up together and hes fully healed and mobile being able to get off the golden throne, but even then what he does is up in the air. Some of the examples are would he really want to close the rift? sure it fked the imperium over and gives chaos god more influence but its also stated that it was a massive power boost for the emperor as well, would he want to destroy the church or not ? only reason he forbid everyone from worship is because denying gods would weaken chaos but at this point it may be too late so he might as well take the power up for himself, another potentional thing is maybe imperium will finally ally some xenos races like eldar, tau or them totally not dwarves since noone else in the imperium can really do it without getting called a fkin heretic and starting a civil war

I'm pretty sure the emperor would not be happy when he sees some of the changes that was made to the imperium. There are some things that would even piss him off. But if you look at it from a different perspective, this could serve as the greatest morale booster the Imperium desperately needs. The soldiers of the Imperium of man would fight harder and more ferociously on all fronts with so much morale and vigor, that it could even turn the tide of an entire War

(This is a tad long) My personal opinion is that the Emperor HAS to come back. Three reasons why: 1) The game, lore wise is a bit stagnant right now. 2) Doing so would allow GW to sell new models (we know how they love that) and second push for more stories, 3) Finally, it was here or another channel where Guilliman realized the Imperium had 500 years (at best) and 200 years (at worst) before the combined enemies consumed them (Spiritually or physically)
In other words, you either rip the bandaid off NOW, or do so as a last resort.
There is nothing that says the Emperor can't multi-task. Activate Alpha Legion, summon Leman Russ from {wherever}, work with the Eldar to fix the Infinity Gate (in exchange for dealing with the Drukkhari), make a deal with the Silent King to stymy the 'Nids (*) (seriously are their fleets on cruise control?), hand Chaos their lunch, forge a temporary truce with the Orks and deal with Angron, etc., etc.

Lumen sounds pretty cool. I’d like to check out the study he mentioned to see if it’s credible. I’m a Respiratory Therapist and during school we learn about the “equipment” that can measure you exhale and determine how many calories you’re burning. I have never worked to a hospital that does this though.

I was getting this idea from the video, and the thumbnail somewhat solidified it. If the Emperor came back, it would be cool if he was 2 people. One that is slightly nerfed from the Emperor of 30k, but more powerful than a Primarch and the other is still massively boosted by the Rift and still mans the Golden Throne.
