@@Owlstretchingtime78 to me is about the way Jim performed, he was just om another level of real freedom, that's the way you're supossed to perform any way of art, great passion
@@Owlstretchingtime78No... Not even in dreams, just songs from their first album like Break on Through The Crystal Ship Light My Fire or The End are worth more than Love's entire discography. The Doors were the first American group to obtain 5 consecutive gold records... Love doesn't even come close to them, neither in terms of success nor fame... Even less musically, The Doors play in another league as one of the the best rock bands in history, Love is not at that level.
I am so sorry I missed The Doors stream ! The Doors are my favorite band, The Soft Parade is a song I have been fascinated with for many years. I am so happy that you reacted to it !
Hi, guys, Vin, you can listen/watch his interview in 1968, he says that he wants to create a piece of art/music that has he feeling of being totaly at home :)
This came out in July of 69, my friend and I had just graduated high school,(yeah class of 69). We got the first one at the record store. Went home, (had planned, ahead when his Mom's gone for the weekend). Took our first hit of LSD, the real 60's s**t. Set our course for life. After all these years one of the 'deepest' Albums ever made. On Acid it's beyond mind blowing. Add 'The End' to the experience, and you'll attain 'Ego-Death'.
"There are things known and things unknown, and in between are.. the doors."-Jim Morrison. Love your reaction on "Soft Parade". The Doors... Legendary.. Poetry...I send you my love from Serbia🇷🇸✌️
There’s a live version they recorded for PBS at the time, is really good. It was on the boxed set. They also did a song for that same session called Build Me A Woman. One of the lyrics in that is “Sunday trucker, Christian MF’er. I’m just a 3 eyed boy, looking for a 12 toed girl”. 😄
Jim was a voracious reader of ancient lore and history and uses much of it in his works -- also he sprinkles a lot of personal observations and living in the streets mentality -- for instance when he references the Hills in his songs he is referring to rich and affluent people who build their mansions in the higher part of the landscape -- even if they get there using other people (bandit) to become successful --- In his surroundings people that attain success live in Berverly Hills and areas like that and look down upon the people working in the streets below them (the homeless and working class masses ) and how it will always be this way -- I always think of this song as Jim sitting in a park looking around and observing life -- People living life in a societal jungle and allowing themselves to be pacified by pretty sights and sweet flavors and never quite understanding that they are living in a Matrix (so to speak) and living to die never understanding that they are just playing along with fate ---
bulls eye... your spot on. hes commenting on the middle class & up, 'amer dream'. A consumer culture. there is some sharp lines too, how under this soft construct, there is actually very cruel control going on. as you say, a matrix unbeknownst fully to the controller & controlled. 'children being carried to the river', implying their spirits are cut out early by this culture.... it scales out to the greater nation poking into other cultures, as nam is referenced & the hunter in the green vests (soldiers) fighting lions in the night (wild lands beyond that nation- vietnam).... always thought it couldve been better arranged & organized, but I always thought, like you said, its a brilliant breakdown of the cultural construct, its control & to find a way from it.
Im not well versed in the bible, but doesnt " carrying babies to the river" a reference to baby moses being carried to a river in a basket and he floats downstream like in that ten commandments movie.
morrison is saying you have to live life and spirtual quest thru experience, not just words or asking for a God to give you things as opposed to live to find God. as vimi said about slaves breakin thru, to live now & find Truth as opposed to waiting for something.
However on this album, and this album only, the songs are credited to specific members of the band. Every other album the songwriting credits are given to the entire band but on this one they are broken down to particular individuals in the band.
In an interview he did for this album - he predicted modern electronic music
"The Soft Parade has now begun
Listen to the engines hum
People out to have some fun
Cobra on my left
Leopard on my right, yeah!"
A great insight about how nothing ever changes, there is no sanctuary, because "Everything must be this way".
Best American Rock band in history
hell yeah man!!
@@ginog1398 I love The Doors, but Jim owes a huge debt to Arthur Lee. 'Forever Changes is superior to every Doors album!

They are philosophical with their instruments.
The 60s sound like a time that shouldn't have existed.
Jim Morrison was a poet of a master class and influence of life and Greek mythology and Acid and LSD
That was Jim Morrison in the opening "sermon".

Off topic but been wanting to ask you to react to Chaoseum : Wonderland
Stop sayin him the music was written by the doors they were a BAND

Watch the Doors movie.
It's awful!
The Oliver Stone film is a terrible portrayal of Jim. Instead watch "When You're Strange: A Film About The Doors."
Movie is fucking trash lmaooo
you need a truck of read books to understand these lyrics
