I believe we have John to thank for this: the story goes that he met Barbara Broccoli at a party while tipsy and, being a huge Bond fan, suggested that Duran do the theme song for one of the films. The rest is history!
He approached Albert Broccoli and said "When are you going to get someone decent to do one of your theme songs?". Big words for a guy that will soon fade into obscurity.
@@Szczauqa LOL You're not a bass player, are you? He's hardly faded into obscurity, dude. And considering this is the most successful Bond theme ever, I'd say his "big words" were pretty freaking accurate.
Nice story. I was actually living in Paris at the time this film was released. I am from Bath. I am a huge 007 fan and of Christopher Walken as well. Duran Duran's theme song is one of the best. This is an excellent video but the brilliant ending is the best part; "Bon, Simon Le Bon". 😉
The video director was very clairvoyant showing a flying camera almost 35 years ago... Now they are flying in drones everywhere. How I love the 80's sci fi !!! Greetings from Brasil
I love this video so much! 😊 The parts of the video I like a lot are the parts with Mr. Rhodes taking pictures of the lady and the last part of the video when Mr. Le Bon responds at the end of the video, "Bon, Simon Le Bon". 😂 That is brilliant how Duran Duran got it from James Bond! So cool! It's like another great movie! 😀 This video is that good!
Of all the bands then, Duran Duran WON! ❤ They've been a part of my life since 1982, have gone here and there to see them live and I'm looking forward to #15 for their Halloween show in NYC. I adore this band!!!! Bravo, Andy! 💐
I'm incredibly biased, but this is my favorite Bond Song and Bond Movie. I know that makes me sound incredibly stupid, but having seen all of the Bond films, I think I can judge. It's so typical 80s', which is what I love. I mean Mayday? Can you get a more period accurate woman?
I agree. This is my favorite James Bond theme and movie as well. The character of Mayday was strong and sexy, but yet fearsome. The same goes for Brigitte Nielsen in Beverly Hills Cop II. The both of them starred in the Conan universe, because of that. The video girl reminds me of Sofia Boutella.
I disagree with ur point that having seen all of the Bond films makes u sound incredibly stupid 😂I love it lol. It makes u sound like a genius. It’s one of the best movie series of all time
I absolutely love it, it’s fun and holds my attention till the end. I have no idea why it has such a bad wrap, maybe cause of the age of Mr Moore? But that never bothered me tbh
I've been a Duran Duran fan all my life -- you can imagine my shock at the 2:30 mark when there is a guy in the background with a blue jacket that says "Upper Merion" on the back of it... That's the freakin' high school I went to!!! I'm speechless!!!
Except of being the best bond's movies song, and except of being one of Duran duran's biggest hits, it has the coolest poetic expression used in any song: the fatal sound of broken dreams. SIMPLY AWESOMEEEEE!!!!!!
*Wow!!! I'm reviewing all the films during this month all in sequence, so I'm listening to the soundtracks too... I arrived at "A View To A Kill" and I declare: NOBODY managed to surpass this theme performed by Duran Duran!!! You come to this conclusion when you decide to listen to a track and end up listening to it 10 times in a row!!! I love Sir Paul MacCartney's work, I really like the theme played by Carly Simon, but with all due respect the union of John Barry/Bernard Edwards and Duran Duran is unbeatable... Simon, John, Andy, Nick, Roger, Barry and Edwards: thank you!!! 00"//==-*
@@renenowaylynch6423 but it didn't hit number one, I'm afraid. Duran Duran was the only band in history to hit number one with a Bond theme. No one has done it before, no one has done it since. A-ha came close. The Living Daylights hit number Two. But only Duran Duran holds the distinction of taking a Bond theme to Number One. Not even Tina Turner could do it with Goldeneye. I'd say that's pretty freakin impressive!
Duran Duran could have been the biggest band in the world. And still be today. They wanted to change their formula. But from 1981 to 1985, boy, they were The Kings.
Maybe but they were filming this after a rough night and many tensions between each other which is partially why they were not filmed together. John had no sleep the night before.
Just turned 50 and this was a watermark song in my youth. Duran continues to be one of my favorite all time bands…but looking at this video with fresh eyes…it’s not a great video! It does earn lots of nostalgia points.
One of my all time favorite songs. And love it that Andy fries Nick at the end. I always wondered if that casting was tongue-in-cheek or if Andy fought for that part.
This was a perfect match between artists and actors no other bond movie will experience this . The fact that Simons last name was Bond noone can ever take that away from him .

I spent a lot of time visiting friends who lived all over Paris and there was the odd moment jumping over the turnstiles in the metro, which kind of added to the excitement and the atmnospherics. Ah, the joys and folly of youth.
@@tappetmanifolds7024 That's pretty cool! I'm still waiting to get there myself: was planning to go last year, and of course that didn't happen. Hopefully I'll make it over next year! 🤞
@@erinfraise6154 Well I'm not, but if you're only known by the bass players, you're certainly obscure.
Δεν υπάρχουν λόγια γι αυτό τό τραγούδι.💎❤
I started taking Duran Duran seriously after they came out with this one! gives me chills whenever I hear it!
Co-writing with John Barry helped. It's a very good song for sure.
Meeting you with a view to a kill
Face to faces, secret places, feel the chill
Night fall covers me
But you know the plans I'm making
Still overseas,
Could it be the whole lot opening wide
A sacred why
A mystery gaping inside
A week is why
Until we dance into the fire
That fatal kiss is all we need
Dance into the fire
To fatal sounds of broken dreams
Dance into the fire
That fatal kiss is all we need
Dance into the fire
The choice for you is the view to a kill
Between the shades assassination standing still
First crystal tears,
Fallen of snowflakes on your body
First time in years
To drench you skin of lover's rosy stain
A chance to find the phoenix for the flame
A chance to die
But can we dance into the fire
That fatal kiss is all we need
Dance into the fire
To fatal sounds of broken dreams
Dance into the fire
That fatal kiss is all we need
Dance into the fire
When all we see is the view to a kill
Only2mistakes on lyrics not that bad2try
Thanks!!!
Duran Duran have amazing song writing skills, best band ever
Such a badass tune. The 80's f'in rule!
In 2002, ABC had the "Bond Picture Show"---and one week, they did a survey of the greatest Bond movie songs of all time--this was #1!!!!!!
I should add, I saw this for the first time in the fall of 1994 on ABC---Roger Moore was such an idiot, in this one! But it was great!!!!
Great band , favolous years , beautiful Duran’s songs ! It’s impossible to forget them! ❤️🥰
Duran Duran the greatest band ever, still making great music today
A positive memory of mine was my father taking my older sister and I to see this movie. Duran Duran is cool.
Remembering my father’s favorite group! Im 26, he passed away 4 year ago. But he gave me the best musical taste of all! Im listening for him to keep enjoying music.
British 🇬🇧 Pop music 🎶 is the best in the world 🤘🏻
Hi I Recommend an indierock Song called 'the bond villain' by Robert Nix

特に80thはよかったです🎉
Easily my favourite Bond Theme. Love the dodgy video. Most of the budget spent on hair spray. Absolutely brill.
😹😹😹
🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favourite as well.
1980s have be feather d whole new level of haircare
Got to get fethered
I love this video. They are all so handsome (and dangerous!) and funny too.
The best Bond song. Period.
Duran made some great records. This is a brilliant, memorable Bond theme.
Definitely 1 of the best bands of the 80's Simon has a killer voice!!
Absolutley Legendary Hook. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is absolutely unbelievably magnificently brilliant. Loud guys you gotta have this loud. It's the best. Love you Duran Duran xxxxx
Duran Duran.........an incredibly beautiful and talented band. God I miss the 80's!
#1 on Billboard 35 years ago this weekend
Wow,where did all the time ago.
Of all the bands then, Duran Duran WON! ❤ They've been a part of my life since 1982, have gone here and there to see them live and I'm looking forward to #15 for their Halloween show in NYC. I adore this band!!!! Bravo, Andy! 💐
Best song for a movie ever.
We don't search for old songs...
we search for old memories.❤❤❤
Dr. Suzan Rogers (ex technician of Prince) confirms it !!!
we search for good songs
Hi I Recommend a song called 'The Bond Villain' By Robert Nix

ok
Kallia Rinkel 1st major rockstar bond movie.
Kallia Rinkel same here mate even tho Moore was old still a great film with a great song from a fantastic 80s group
Was wären die 80ziger ohne Duran Duran? So geil.
I've been a Duran Duran fan all my life -- you can imagine my shock at the 2:30 mark when there is a guy in the background with a blue jacket that says "Upper Merion" on the back of it... That's the freakin' high school I went to!!! I'm speechless!!!
I will always love Duran Duran!!! Such a beautiful band!
Best bond theme ever and the most successful, brilliant tune
Can't choose. Live and let Die or this. Ok
live and let die it is. 😋😋😋
Goldfinger will always have my heart but this... it’s special
live and let die is pretty good
The living daylights by aha and license to kill by Gladys knight are also good but a view to a kill by Duran Duran is a brilliant theme tune

Never much a Duran fan, but always loved this song!
Timeless classic. Nothing like the 80’s!!!!
Except of being the best bond's movies song, and except of being one of Duran duran's biggest hits, it has the coolest poetic expression used in any song: the fatal sound of broken dreams. SIMPLY AWESOMEEEEE!!!!!!
They created a number of excellent hit songs, very talented guys and well matched ensemble.
Adoro Duran Duran ! E viva os anos 80 !!!! 😍💃🏻🕺🏻
The only James Bond theme song that became number one in the billboard hot 100.
no Goldfinger theme ????? that was a monster hit
Not Adele in 2012 ?
@@ecclestonsangel Skyfall did it

One of Duran Durans best videos!
Duran Duran could have been the biggest band in the world. And still be today. They wanted to change their formula. But from 1981 to 1985, boy, they were The Kings.
correct 100%
This video must have been a ton of fun to make, and this song will live on forever and never grow old!
Maybe but they were filming this after a rough night and many tensions between each other which is partially why they were not filmed together. John had no sleep the night before.

Precisamos de um james bond de verdade !!!
38 years later and I still literally LOL when at the end he says, "Bon. Simon Le Bon."
Agreed!
I like the "oh shite" expression when he looks into the Walkman the last time 😂
Same. A fan forever.
Me too! His looks his smirk; he’s so proud of himself that he can say Simon LeBon and it is pretty clever…I play this video a Lot!
The 🧀 was so thick it was good!
it´s still better than most BS made in music today, 40 years ahead in musical technology.
There will never, ever be a better James Bond theme song, no matter what, no matter who. Duran Duran nailed it, to the point of masterpiece!
This was a perfect match between artists and actors no other bond movie will experience this . The fact that Simons last name was Bond noone can ever take that away from him .
Well... Almost. His last name is Le Bon. But whatever. It's close enough.
Three of my favourites, James Bond, Roger Moore and Duran Duran, stunning :)
Who knew that Duran Duran figured out the drone concept.
th-cam.com/video/14YMRYjlLSs/w-d-xo.html Zorin : Im happiest , on ebay !
you do realise they had remote control helicopters back then right? even in hk martial films like 'in the line of duty' they had remote control helicopter that they flew into victims to blow up, or put cameras in them etc
Sorry but this Is old concept! The drone to look for in other films and verme's book. The Song Is cool!
Science fiction becomes , science fact.
