  • How To Forward Bay Park & Reverse Back Out Of A Parking Spot - Forward Stall Parking Made Easy!
    Any type of parking maneuver takes some practice to learn and master, including Parallel Parking, 90 Degree Reverse Parking, 45 Degree Reverse Parking, and the subject of this video, Forward Bay Parking. Learning to do these are great skills to have, and some are even necessary in order to pass your driving test. Forward Bay Parking (also known as Forward Stall Parking) is probably the type of parking that's done by the largest amount of people in day-to-day driving, and therefore the perfect one to learn first. In this video, we look at how to forward park in a parking bay on the right or left, how to back out of a parking spot, which way to turn your steering wheel when backing out, and how to do all this safely. Thanks for watching, and I hope this video will help someone become a better, more confident driver.

    For most of us, this is the only way we can learn how to drive. The simulated demonstrations with verbal instructions. For beginners, I highly recommend practicing in the morning and afternoon. Lots of space and time are necessary to learn. You'll be aboe to think clearer with less distractions and more focused on your quick reaction timing, within reason. Watching a few videos helped me go from making mistakes to decent-driver level that could notice mistakes I made before and self-correct in only a few months. If you're nervous, stressed out or emotional, the rate of unsafe driving conditions go up high immediately. Making only one mistake of not paying close attention, could cost someone their life.

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good advice about when to practice...the less distractions the better so you can focus on what you're doing. Thanks for taking the time to leave this comment!

    I also learned reverse parking techniques from this video only and was successfully able to do this in one go. When I did reverse parking last night people around me were so much impressed with my reverse technique art :D. Thanks, Sir🙏 . However, since my vehicle is small in size so obviously my reference point was a little different.

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Glad to hear that you've done so well with your reverse parking! That shows you're a good driver, a quick learner, and you know what you're doing. The people around you were rightfully impressed! And you are very right about needing to adjust the reference point for different size vehicles. Thank you for your comment!

    Excellent video. One thing I would add is also check behind and to the right over your shoulder when pulling to the left for a right turn. Sometimes cars get impatient in a parking lot and will try to zoom around you. So not only check oncoming traffic but also check for traffic behind and to the side.

    any recommendations for those who see primarily with one eye? (my left eye is weak)
    i ask because i seem to have trouble giving adequate room on one side when forward parking
    the guy next to me at a gas station barely got in his car, and i felt like a complete idiot for that
    though in hindsight, i could have just backed out and fixed my parking job before leaving

    This is fabulous!! I was just telling my husband - who is teaching me how to drive - that you described it exactly as he described it/vice versa lol but the one thing I really like is lining up the body of a parking spot before mine. That’s it I’m going to try getting better.
    In the beginning, I was making a mistake of turning to sharply into the parking spot
    Sometimes I get it spot on, sometimes I’m a little too far over the left one right is still in the parking spot in between the two
    lines
    It’s all about practice. And definitely empty parking lot practicing, for the first thing, parking, etc. is the best way.
    Exactly how I’m learning along with on the road practice

    Thank you for another excellent video. I had to rent a garage (at my apartment complex) because I recently found parallel parking difficult and frustrating. The garage is so narrow, the first time I entered my section, I had to flip both side mirrors in. Apparently everyone there has trouble with the narrow garage openings. I’ve started pulling in at a very slight angle, then straightening out once my mirrors have cleared the poles. Getting out is also a hassle. I’m going to try your method (my space is on the right).

    I've had my license for a while now, but I lost some confidence in my parking ability after a minor parking lot accident (as well as two other accidents; one somewhat minor and one major). Now I'm just a little afraid about screwing up again and hitting an actual car so thank God the parking lots I have to park in are mostly empty most of the time. The straight parking spaces (as opposed to the slanted ones at most grocery stores and such) are hard for me. I practiced a little earlier today and am slowly regaining a feel for it. I haven't retried it yet, but I can tell that this video is really well filmed and shows just the right angle at each point of the maneuver so that should help. Thanks!

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hope it helps, and it can take a little while to regain that confidence again after an accident. But the good thing is, there are always lessons we can learn from an accident that can help us to not get in a similar one again. I’m glad you’re out there trying again…you’ll get this!

    • @HowSkills

      Best of luck on your driving test. Hope it all goes well, and I understand that using the cones can be way different than doing it with actual vehicles. Try to focus on using the same principles no matter which way you’re doing it, and above all, try to relax and stay as calm as possible. Easier said than done, I know. But the majority of examiners are hoping you will pass, and if you don’t make any major mistakes, they’ll put you through.

    hoping this helps me pass my test, I had really terrible understanding on the first try and had a mini panic attack which resulted in failure but I've practiced a bit and scanned some tip videos and I'm hoping to get my license
    also have the terrible idea to use a SUV, but the car has gotten me through all 60 of my practice hours, i feel familiar and safe in it

    Thank you sir for the tutorial! I’d never learned how to do forward bay parking. I’d always reverse park. Is it ok to always reverse park in real life or in some situations you’ll have to do forward bay parking?

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I prefer reverse parking, especially for the advantage of being able to pull straight out when leaving. But the main time I forward park is when I'm parking in a lot that has a one way traffic flow down the parking aisle, and all the parking spaces are at an angle. This requires that you forward park, because you have to back out and leave the aisle going in one direction only. You can't back in because then you'd be going against the traffic flow when you left. But in most circumstances, you should be able to stick with reverse parking.

    I was confused because I've been watching other video on how to backing out from the parking area= Back up straight and Once you can't back up no more turn your steering wheel the opposite side= If you are going to the left turn your steering wheel to the right if Right turn the steering wheel to left.🤔

  • @vernonashford7426
    @vernonashford7426 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So when your backing up out of a parking space and when the rear end of car is going to the left so left singal or going to the right so right turn signal so that's important but if no car's are not around do you still need the turn signal on.

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't have to, but it's good to make a habit of it so you don't forget to do it when it could really help.

    Why do i need to steer the wheel when backing out ?why cant i just back out straight then steer it when completely out

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sometimes you can do that, but in many parking lots, you don’t have room to get all the way backed out and they turn. It just depends on how much room you have behind you and if there are other vehicles parked behind you.

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, not at all! Using reference points is a great way for beginning drivers to learn, but the goal is for them to get to the point where they can do it by their gut feeling.

    I noticed u don't use blind spot mirrors...any reason why sir

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did have them on my car at one time (made a video about blind spot mirrors also) and they needed replaced, so I took them off. I keep forgetting to put new ones on, but I will do that. They make driving and backing up a lot safer, and if they're not already built into your mirrors, everyone should add them. Thanks for the reminder!

      He is using the spot before the actually spot he will park in as a reference, sort of a guide of when to turn into his actual spot.

    What a load of crap. Proper drivers would reverse in than you drive out rather than reverse, and not have a good field of view because of vehicles beside you, it's much safer.

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is what I like to do also, for the fact that it is much safer and easier to leave a parking spot driving forward instead of backing out. But this video is for those that aren't comfortable with backing 90 degrees into a parking spot. Backing in is especially better when you're parked in a full parking lot and trying to leave after a sporting event or concert is over. It's much easier to pull out into the slow moving line of traffic in your row than expecting people to give you enough room to first back out in front of them and then drive off.
