But have you played it? Optimizations and rain aside, the DE is superior. The experience is quite solid, especially with the UI and checkpoint system. I feel no reason to go back to the originals.

Fog gives an illusion of big city. When there is no fog, it's no longer a big city, it's more like a small village with skyscrapers. Extended draw distance isn't always a good thing.
Exactly, Ive been saying this since the games launched. Its great to have a further draw distance in some situations but not always. Also the rain animation looks far better in the original than the remastered
You can still be the far in the original as well, but I agree that they add fog. But one idiot requested them to increase the draw distance, whoever requested that should get shot to death.

My personal things to hate on Trilogy: 1. No Fog(atleast they could have increased the fog distance) 2. OG Main menu Sounds 3. No sounds Improvements 4. Other than Protagonist,Every Character face model😂

Not making diferent atmospheres for each game, like GTA 3 could look dark like GTA 4, while Vice City would be brighter. 3. The fog, instead of completly removing it, making it less visible. 4. Character models for sure, Tommy looks like Ken from barbie 5. No depth or details added, like garbage or industrial material around 6. No sound improvements

I had so much nostalgia running gta3 again. First gta experience for me. I do appreciate the graphic upgrades and in a way I’m kinda fine with some of the things not being fixed like in a way they were trying to stay true to the old games themselves. But I really do hope they update the games for the more obvious reasons.
The definitive edition is literally the same game just with a converter bolted on to make it run on the unreal engine. That's why all the bugs are still there, in fact, they seemed to have used one of the earlier builds of the game which weren't patched so a lot of bugs that were patched out on the earlier PC release have come back. Honestly, considering this is the same game but with nicer textures, you could just mod the original game and get the same effect, that's probably why rockstar went hard with take-down orders on the mod community.

Well, thing is that they didn't even bothered to change it in the Definitive edition, it's literally the same one from the 2001 version. After seeing it, i was 1000% secure that they just straight up ported the first version and enhaced it A BIT to catter to nostalgia without making anything signifcant, and this video prooves what i said.
The lack of distance fog really bugs me. They thought they wanted to impress with the draw distance showing the entire map but that's now how the world works.. if you look at stuff far away in the distance they will always look a bit hazy the farther they are. It's the atmosphere and air density between you and the objects. Buildings and mountains gets that blueish look when far away. Now it looks like a flat miniature. It killed all sense of depth. Should be easy to fix and I hope they do. The collision with air planes was one of the changes R* did because of 9/11 back then. Even though It's been long enough now, I don't think they should have changed it.
there are channels on youtube who are experts on modding and they can teach you to Mod San Andreas(Original)so good, adding any cars you want, realistic gun sounds, Physics, Rag Doll Physics, better A.I, adding different gangs all over the city, making the gun play harder with more recoil, making the enemies more dangerous and so many things that makes the game feel so much more complete. it would be definitely a better experience if wanted to put a couple of hours to modding it Edit: I recommend 'Internet Rob', he has videos that he mentions the best mods for all GTA Games that improve the game in almost every way, in a 10 minute video you learn about all kinds of mods that you would have to spend weeks of installing and uninstalling to learn about.
I was too naive when expected Rockstar will remake their games by adding options which would enable players in GTA3&VC to swim or putting games on Unreal engine, remaking all the models and adding more real-life physics... I guess that will happen in a parallel universe Also, i hate that now maps look small! Playing the original games, i had a feeling each game world was huge, but when looking on it from the top, it feels the opposite

That's not being naive, it's called reading comprehension. R* never claimed anything other the graphics and controls would be different. Expecting anything else is creating your own universe and then living in it.

We got nothing with perfection. The classic game was perfectly patched by the modders but it had not such beautiful graphics now the graphics is beautiful but the game is even more glitchy than before.
@@SlightlyInactive It wasn't sarcasm, it actually made the map feel smaller. The fog not only hides the low draw distance, it also made the map feel larger. Not to mention the draw distance is actually the same, the only difference is that the fog is removed. So guess what? You can see the collection's quality using a sniper rifle combined with no fog and worse LOD.
To be fair, the first glitch is really irrelevant since there's no way to climb those buildings without mods, It was never meant to be able to go there.
@@TagoMago2010 Now now, I wouldn't say It's that much of a good job, the game seens to be quite a glitchy mess and overall bad character models (in some cases, I personally liked a lot Tommy and Claude models, others have a really bad one like Ryder and various peds, Sweet was sweet enough, kill me). As for graphics, the first two seens really pretty while San Andreas was neat but flawed, but goddamn It doesn't worth 60 dollars, not even half of that.

The fog in the original GTA 3 looks very organic. In fact, the player sees the entire map, but the fog gives the feeling that there is something else behind it. But in GTA San Andreas it feels like the climate is colder, because the fog is so thick. He sucks.
Does #GTAIII still have the longer memory for previously used vehicles - like if a taxi driver would reclaim the taxi you stole from him you would see him driving erratically in it ages later. And does #GTAVC still have the helicopter blades that keep spinning so you can get in and out and quickly take off again, like when you're collecting packages.

Still have my PS2 copy I repurchased on the PS4 back in 2017. I’m glad I did because graphics never bothered me, Wha mattered was the gameplay, story, and characters. GTA 3 is a classic and probably the first video game I ever played. Nostalgia plays little factor too because I don’t like SA much anymore. Very happy I didn’t waste my money on the “Definitive” edition. Big example of screwing the graphics up is 5:23 the game should always look something like that. Liberty was designed to look depressing, messy, and foggy! Not happy and sunny
Hey, so what's up with car physics? The Third had its own clumsy feel of steering with old and big/heavy cars more tending to roll over then in vice city or SA. And I personally really love it. But how does it work here?
Looks fucken great to me though man! Definitely my favourite outta the bunch. This is the version I was most excited for, and it's the one that needed the most work done.
I used to do something fun in OG gta 3. Try it out yourself and try in DE too. Go to airport and spawn a tank. Then go to the runway and face it in such a way that your turret is facing a plane taking off. Then press fire button repeatedly. You will start flying if you do it correctly. I used to do it because I couldn't fly that sh!tty dodo.
This goes to show that better graphics (higher polycount meshes, higher res textures, better lighting) does not necessary mean a better presentation. The original game had a really nice art style that's completely absent in the remaster.
I feel like the older graphics in gta 3 and especially 4 really capture the dirty and gritty way every thing looks in new york. The definitive edition looks like a future city.
I managed to adjust the GTA 3 Definitive Edition contrast and brightness to look a little closer to the original washed out look. Set the brightness up 1 tick from the default. As for the contrast, set it down 3 ticks from the default. Now it should look a little closer to the original.
It looks werid looking at the whole city in the hd version makes the map smaller i like that og feel dont get me wrong there some things that looks better but some things they should've left 😏👌🏽
I've been enjoying the game, has anyone else had the "Bomb the base" ship come back after being destroyed? It sunk in the Cutscene then came back but now it's like a 👻 ship as you can drive a boat right through it.

Overall the new lighting looks decent but its really missing the atmospheric fog and weather effects of the original.

R* never claimed anything other than graphics and controls was changed. They said exactly what was changed, and consumers with lack of self control blame the company. If consumers were smarter they would have waited a few weeks before buying this, but they are not capable due to mental reasons. Good for R* making loads of money out of such consumers. Kudos!

We got nothing with perfection. The classic game was perfectly patched by the modders but it had not such beautiful graphics now the graphics is beautiful but the game is even more glitchy than before.

@@SlightlyInactive It wasn't sarcasm, it actually made the map feel smaller. The fog not only hides the low draw distance, it also made the map feel larger. Not to mention the draw distance is actually the same, the only difference is that the fog is removed. So guess what? You can see the collection's quality using a sniper rifle combined with no fog and worse LOD.
To be fair, the first glitch is really irrelevant since there's no way to climb those buildings without mods, It was never meant to be able to go there.

@@TagoMago2010 Now now, I wouldn't say It's that much of a good job, the game seens to be quite a glitchy mess and overall bad character models (in some cases, I personally liked a lot Tommy and Claude models, others have a really bad one like Ryder and various peds, Sweet was sweet enough, kill me). As for graphics, the first two seens really pretty while San Andreas was neat but flawed, but goddamn It doesn't worth 60 dollars, not even half of that.

The fog in the original GTA 3 looks very organic. In fact, the player sees the entire map, but the fog gives the feeling that there is something else behind it.
But in GTA San Andreas it feels like the climate is colder, because the fog is so thick. He sucks.

Does #GTAIII still have the longer memory for previously used vehicles - like if a taxi driver would reclaim the taxi you stole from him you would see him driving erratically in it ages later. And does #GTAVC still have the helicopter blades that keep spinning so you can get in and out and quickly take off again, like when you're collecting packages.
Yes, GTA3's memory appears to have improved greatly. I've seen cars sitting around that I had long forgotten about driving.

Actually, these buildings are not reachable without mods or glitches, so R* had no interest to correctly modelised their top.

Still have my PS2 copy I repurchased on the PS4 back in 2017. I’m glad I did because graphics never bothered me, Wha mattered was the gameplay, story, and characters. GTA 3 is a classic and probably the first video game I ever played. Nostalgia plays little factor too because I don’t like SA much anymore.
Very happy I didn’t waste my money on the “Definitive” edition. Big example of screwing the graphics up is 5:23 the game should always look something like that. Liberty was designed to look depressing, messy, and foggy! Not happy and sunny
These games were good for a different time, different place, and different season...but I do admit they do look great
The target audience are gamers who played the original games and would buy this for nostalgia reasons. So yes, these are old games with old standards.
Instead of complaining if ever young gen try these games they will find it.more interesting than most.of aaa games today

Looks fucken great to me though man! Definitely my favourite outta the bunch. This is the version I was most excited for, and it's the one that needed the most work done.
I used to do something fun in OG gta 3. Try it out yourself and try in DE too. Go to airport and spawn a tank. Then go to the runway and face it in such a way that your turret is facing a plane taking off. Then press fire button repeatedly. You will start flying if you do it correctly. I used to do it because I couldn't fly that sh!tty dodo.

This goes to show that better graphics (higher polycount meshes, higher res textures, better lighting) does not necessary mean a better presentation. The original game had a really nice art style that's completely absent in the remaster.

I feel like the older graphics in gta 3 and especially 4 really capture the dirty and gritty way every thing looks in new york. The definitive edition looks like a future city.
I managed to adjust the GTA 3 Definitive Edition contrast and brightness to look a little closer to the original washed out look. Set the brightness up 1 tick from the default. As for the contrast, set it down 3 ticks from the default. Now it should look a little closer to the original.
The more I see the definative addition the more I really cyberpunk 2077 was not so bad!
