    Could you write the name of this dance and what region of Portugal it comes from?

    • @zaixega
      @zaixega  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! The dance is a vira, one of the typical dances from north Portugal. The song mentions the parish São Pedro de Raimonda, located in Porto region, so the complete name of the dance can be probably be "Vira de São Pedro de Raimonda" (Vira from St. Peter of Raimonda).

    There's nothing traditional in here. All this pseudo-traditional dances played by "ranchos" were made up during Salazar's dictatorship as part of the so called "spirit policy", a self-fashoning of supposed rural and regional virtues. Actually, real dances and music were reshaped or even forbidden (like for instance what happened with chinese opera during Mao's regime).
