  • Graphics researcher James Blinn talks about developing his Blinn Shading, a 3D shading technique he developed while a student at the University of Utah in the 1970s. His keynote was part of the IEEE Milestone dedication celebrating the pioneers who developed computer graphics in the 70s at the U.

    The Fundamentals. What a legend. I glad I able to watch such talks about the origins of some interesting science/computer things with a comments from the people who originate it.

    I sit here rendering 37 million triangles in Keyshot and I'm glad I don't have to do these maths, but I appreciate the pioneering work. I started at the U of U in 2001 and slept through most of Dave Hanscom's classes, but eventually went to UVSC because they had a MUCH better program for computer graphics at the time.
