hey guys, thanks for watching and giving your comments. Seeing that how everyone agrees and would just love to meet people and have fun, I've decided I'm going to host a yugioh stream with everyone this sat (tomorrow) at gmt+8 9pm-11pm. Come if you wanna do some dumb stuff www.twitch.tv/heroskyskyred
to be fair, ive had plenty of duels where ppl just styled on me so hard with how much they were still able to combo, that they ended up NOT beeing able to finish me anymore, coz suddenly they went from havin like 5000 atk more then i had LP to beeing 200 short and that feel when u get out of that situation, pop a raigeki and win is just the best
You know that you don't have something like Battle Fader or Swift Scarecrow or Gorz, but I don't so it's in my best interest to set things up in case I can't actually win right now.
It isn't a matter of probability, but of logic. It is really easy to tell in this game whether you'll win or lose, because it all comes down to starters and disruptions. I.E. if I have two starters in hand, and my opponent lays down 3 negations... I lose. It doesn't matter what card I draw, because even if it is the best card in my deck, I will still lose. We know all the cards in our decks. We know the opponents deck and their combos. We can count how many plays we make before we get stopped completely. Once that count is exceeded, there's no reason to keep going.
I actually didn't expect someone to make a response to that video...seems Paul finally stirred up the hornet's nest, lmao. If ranked is the main thing you have an issue with, YGO Omega is a good alternative.
I’m really bad at Yu-Gi-Oh! For one reason, I use as few negates as possible. I like to see quick come backs and crazy combos. I don’t care if I win or lose, I just like to see the game of back and forth. Not 10 minutes turns to negate everything on my turn.
i understand your point. you wanna see your opponent pull off some cool/smart/epic moves. i would love to see them too because it'll feel like the anime. but yes, cool moves aren't 10 minute long combos. that's just boring as hell.
I don't surrender. If my opponent has to make this huge combo that takes 10 minutes... that's 10 minutes of their life wasted. Sure, it's the same for me but hey, at least I'm dragging them down with me. And occasionally they either surrender due to a misplay, connection problem or a time out. So I take those chances.
Lets not sugar coat this aint the anime we dont have luck changes or shining hope draws to get us that one card, When its pointless im not going to stay, im not here to watch someone play solitaire, im here to play

His take is dumb. Surrender no one wants to sit around for 30 min for a guy to finish setting up his board. It’s why I stopped playing and swapped to marvel snap, master duel is the most annoying game especially now. People want max c to be banned why? It stops assholes from summoning every negate known to man
Oh on that note i rarely surrender unless i know for a fact its a lost cause, also i agree on fee other comments if we both know you can attack and win and want to flex and do a bunch of special summoning for no reason whatsoever ya im out nobody got time for that crap, but that being said if they just want to get out their favorite monster and see its animation finish im like sure you earned it use your Eqyptian Gods animation. Their is a difference between wanting a moment and you being a douchbag just because you can.
I don't understand this sentiment behind way most people surrender combos along with the unexpected upsets that more often then not two sides of the same coin is what makes yugioh fun i love seeing combos people make in specially if it a combo i didn't see before but surrounding is a problem in specially when people surrender after there board and specifically their boss monster got more or less cleared or taken after getting them out as a combo turn one or maybe two if they surrender just because there "perfect" board got bang up or destroyed i call those players the b word surrendering just because a dual isn't going there way in specially if they are not going to lose that turn
maybe they dont know how to play aside from that one standard combo they always do, or the frustration of messing up. they blame themselves so they quit.
If I am going second and can see that their end board will 100% stop my combo from even starting, and they'll OTK me turn 3, I am surrending Especially if it's the first duel of the match because not I have deck info and can sode board without my opponent know what I am playing
I think the most important takeaway from this is that winning or losing doesn't actually matter that much and that, because you get infinite chances basically, you might as well just go to the next game. If u ain't having fun, nothing wrong with leaving the game. After all, it's just a game. I completely disagree with the other stuff and think the whole "casual vs competitive players" mindset is just stupid from both sides though.
Im a fairly casual player, but i rarely scoup unless i have no hope of winning. I mostly play Ancient Gear, Relinquished, Ojama, and a few mish mashed decks i built, and all i want to do is have fun. It's not really fun when you go against another copy pasta meta deck over and over again, lol. I got a few videos on my channel of duels that i had a blast on, but saldy, they aren't as common as i would like. Master duel has gotten me back into yugioh, and honestly, i want to stay, i just hope Konami nerfs the meta a bit. Cant wsit for the new ancient gesr support to release on MD, though!
i respect your decision to not scoop. and yes, its never fun to go against a top tier copy paste deck. i myself have a relinquished deck but i mostly use it with mind crush just to mess with my friends lol. ancient gear is so whack now with the fusions, so different from the GX era. and i gotta say, i would hate losing to ojamas LOL. for nerfs, konami may release banlists that restrict cards but overall the inherent problem of long combos will not be resolved with a change in the banlist. honestly, i dont think they can ever solve it unless they do a huge nerf to links like what they did to pendulum.
Im literally the type when i lose dont press surrender button but if The openent literally know he can end it and he ofc continue summoning i press it that's annoying asf.
That's why they should add a button to raise a white flag, once you pressed it, you can't undo it and you'll not be able to do anything, and for the opponent they have an actual 30s no delay to wrap up the duel, if the time's up, they'd automatically get the win. But this would make surrender lose half of its meaning so I'd say make it so that in your turn you can only surrender and in the opponent's turn you can only raise a white flag.
the white flag idea is interesting though it might just be extending the inevitable. and i think the flaw is, if you raise it on your opponent's first turn, they cant very well end you on the very first turn, so youre just gunna have to wait for your turn to surrender, which will take long and defeats the purpose. all it does is extend your agony.
For me it's not about the impatience but the analysis of the match up. Does my deck have a play around with what I am up against? How likely am I to draw the out if it's not in my hand? No/unlikely? Scoop.
Because I like playing with different decks, and most of them aren't Top Tier decks. And I spend a lot of time in MD Events if it good. Here is my finding. I play mostly with Evil Eye, Generaider, Marincess, Resonator Dragon Archfiend, Plunder Patroll, Ritual Pile, etc. . Players don't easily surrender if you play a fairer deck. Either they don't know what your deck can do. Or they know what your deck can do, but they also know their deck can play against our deck even without drawing a specific counter card. In the event, that Konami creates the ban list properly. More players also stay in the game because they know there are no unfair cards or decks in the event. And knowing the disruption from that "open knowledge", we know our deck cannot do anything. . The format is good when fewer players surrender in the early game, or no surrender at all. I believe Master Duel has detailed data for it. But they just don't want to fix the game. On paper, they can make the game more "P2W" because it is good for business. They keep 1-2 decks too dominant. It will create peer pressure for non-META decks to buy the good deck if they want to play peacefully. And Konami can also push the players to buy the new META deck, with a ban list. But in digital, all prices are the same. Players can play any deck they want and they will spend the same money to buy that digital product. On paper, if older cards suddenly become good, Konami cannot get profit from it, because players just will buy the card from others or vendors. Using the same strategy for digital is bad, it just makes the players bored. On paper, players cannot get bored easily, because they may only play 1-2 days in a week, an only a few games.
exactly, i wont quit if i see my opponent using a deck that i guess won't take so long. like dark magician, blue eyes. i'll play those duels. and i think ban lists wont ever fix anything for us who arent playing in the top competitive scenes.
The thing is most players knows how many interactions each player has. if my opponent ends his board with 5+ negates on the first turn and I have have 5 palyable cards in my hand I've lost that game. There is absolutely no reason to sit through such a game. Not only are you wasting your own time you are wasting your opponents time as well.
exactly right. if they have 2 negates and you dont have the cards to bait both of them out, then youre screwed. no reason to waste time if you know youre gunna lose and your opponent isnt even halfway done with their combo
If you want to have fun and play casually, look for other Players with the same mindset and talk to them about your experiences. Playing with Anime-,Starter- and Structure Decks is fine and fair. If you want to try an Archetype because you find it interesting, ask your opponent if he is ok with it and has something on a similar Level. If you want to play competitively and have fun winning Games, please consider that not everyone shares the same opinions as you do and don’t trash talk their Decks or Cards they like. Master Duel does not have the possibilities to take all this into account and Matchmaking against similar Players is impossible. Also, I can understand if some people do extra summons from the Extra Deck, despite being the clear Winner. They don’t know what you have in your Hand and unexpected things can happen. So, to make sure they don’t loose, they are doing this. Maybe to get Gems faster? Also true. I do not surrender because of three things: The first one is hope. Yes. I still have hope that something might happen that could change the Game in my favor. The second one is curiosity. You can’t exactly foresee how your Deck will interact with that of your Opponent’s Deck and some people might not even know how your Cards work and what you could do with them. The last one is the feeling of accomplishment. It’s quite rare, but it can happen that your Rogue Deck, Anime Deck or janky S gimmicky Deck does win against a competitive Deck. I am sure that everyone will agree, that this feeling is one of the best feelings you can have when playing Master Duel. I won with Meklords against Swordsoul/Tenyi with a Baronne on the Field. I won with Red-Eyes against Memento. I won with Two Headed Dinoking Rex against Snake-Eyes (I still don’t know what happened there). And I won with Heraldic Beasts against Labrynth (hell of a Game I tell you…). Remember: You are the one who decides what kind of experience you want to make and so does your Opponent. If you can talk to each other and get an agreement, you will have more fun with the Game. If you are playing Master Duel, do whatever you can, experiment with your Cards and surrender if you really think that you can’t get a Comeback or your Opponent seriously starts to flex on you. I wish everyone a nice and cool experience with the Game and the most fun you all can get with your favorite Cards. Have a nice day everyone.👊🏻
I just don’t want to invest the time bro. I haven’t climb out of platinum yet and I haven’t attempted in months. If I'm in Gold or an event and you combos with some bullshit synchro combo deck or have an infinite board Imma just scoop. It’s not like I can’t break the board if i’m not penaltized by losses i’m not finna waste my time when I can go to the next game which would be a lot easier. Also I just have terrible luck. Bro I was stuck grinding out of silver cus I ran into every horrible hand and meta deck. I was playing against SNAKE EYES. IN SILVER 😭
Casually waits for them to finish draws out their negate then Evenly Match their board and destroy their final card then laughs when the combo tryhard surrenders.
I will never surrender I will sit there until the last life point. I don't care how long the opponents turn takes theres a timer in game anyway. I will respectfully allow them to kill me. Nothing I hate more than people surrerending or quitting I genuinely think it's one of the worst things about master duel.
@@HeroSkySkyRed What are you saying I'm wrong about here? You literally just said I can stay if I want. How can I be wrong about my opinion on this? I can dislike people for doing something even if they're free to do it
@@kingambrose9919 you're wrong for saying it's one of the worst things of master duel as surrendering is a much needed service. without the surrender option, master duel would be worse for a lot of people. by this logic, you are wrong. a service people need, want, and use cannot be one of the worse things of a game.
@@HeroSkySkyRed I never said surrendering as a mechanic is bad. I'm saying the fact that people will surrender almost every duel before its over is one of the worst things about master duel. Not being able to commit to your own game and acting like a baby because you're not winning is not at all healthy for a game. I don't really understand why people play Yugioh if they act like this.
To be honest I'm more surprised that you guys still try to play yugioh at this point. I mean i get the allure of trying to have a fun game like you see in the show and maybe this is just me hating the defensive playstyle but, the game is no longer about having a back and forth with your opponent. Say what you want about the summoning types etc that's fine what drove it down hill is that you have to deal with numerous cards or tier 0 strats that basically say, i make a board of negates to not allow my opponent to play in the first place. We can see in other games that the defensive style while annoying isn't as overpowered in yugioh (i.e MTG blue players still have a limited resource and in commander you can jump them, Digimon 2020 you both get to play but there are some potential traps in the dmg, Vanguard defensive is more universal etc.) Honest id say either quit or try to make your own faction / style of play for a more anime/ casual style of yugioh that heavily restricts if not flat out bans multi negates on board. Not saying that it doesn't exist for a reason case there are players out there the only want to win I'm just saying if you idea of winning is not letting me play at all why would i waste time playing with you just for you to turn the game into solitaire.
yup, thats exactly the sentiment of a lot of people. you wanna play solitaire, you go ahead and do it. i wont be here for it. I quit master duel for a long time.
It really sounds like you don't actually want to play Yu-Gi-Oh, you want to play the game you remember from recess in middle school that used Yu-Gi-Oh cards and made up rules loosely based on the anime that had made up rules. Also, my brother in Obelisk, Paul says multiple times in his video that he doesn't use top-tier meta deck, even though I usually hate the idea that you can't use a good deck and have fun at the same time.
find me the point in the video where i said he uses a top tier meta deck. i just said he understands and knows how to make a competitive deck. competitive doesnt mean tier 0 also, why is that recess middle school the only other version of yugioh you're referencing? it's true that the current form of yugioh is yugioh, but so was the many different forms it took before it got to this point. synchro, xyz, pendulum era. if i didnt know better i'd say you were one of the long ass combo players
In competitive I can semi understand..... but when I am playing CASUAL where there are no prizes to be won and it is just to play a fun game of yu-gi-oh and my opponent starts busting out meta cards and start playing the meta record, I have to question how desperate are you to win? I am here with my Red eyes Black Dragon or Kozmo deck for a laugh and your playing that tired old tune? No thanks ima change the track, see ya. Now we see if I made my point clear enough or if I sound like am talking rubbish 😜
@@jerryrico9328 hell yeah whats your timezone. lemme setup something on saturday. i'll stream on twitch at www.twitch.tv/heroskyskyred and we could go a few rounds
Here is some advice from a retired Yu-Gi-Oh player if you're for competition then never surrender. But if you want to have fun by yourself an old fashioned Yu-Gi-Oh starter deck and that's it don't even modify it just play it as it is there you go my favorite deck was the Joey wheeler deck and Seto caibas but you needed three blue eyes so because it's not a kaiba deck if it doesn't have three blue eyes
i understand where you're coming from and starter decks are fun, but you can also make stupid themed decks that are just as bad as starter decks and it's still ok if you play with friends. win or lose you both still have fun.
Surrendering is fine. People know their deck better than anybody. If they know they can't push through an established board and didn't draw an out, then scooping is the most sensible option. Save your time and go to round two or the next match. No shame in it.
I think I figured out how to make the speed process of firing off combos a lot better you take a highlighter okay and you mark all the cards with a tiny little dot that links to the combo then when you play the combo you don't even have to do anything you just got to look for the color and that's it they just take all the cards out of the deck and be like okay these are all the cards I activate can you negate them all it's like no okay then I win
i can combo off memory for my main decks, for my shittier funny decks there are no combos. but you have an interesting process. will your friends/opponents mind that you marked your cards? (im assuming youre talking about real life cause i cant figure out how youre gunna mark cards online)

if my opponent ends his board with 5+ negates on the first turn and I have have 5 palyable cards in my hand I've lost that game.
Also true.
I do not surrender because of three things:
The first one is hope.
Remember:
You are the one who decides what kind of experience you want to make and so does your Opponent.
Have a nice day everyone.👊🏻
yup, its definitely up to us players to decide how we want our games to be. well said.
IN SILVER 😭
well nothing you can do if you draw a bad hand except try to tweak your deck. but yeah at some point you just don't care anymore. just scoop.
Casually waits for them to finish draws out their negate then Evenly Match their board and destroy their final card then laughs when the combo tryhard surrenders.
yugioh lost its fun factor about 10 years ago.
you right but at least you had a turn 10 years ago
I will never surrender I will sit there until the last life point. I don't care how long the opponents turn takes theres a timer in game anyway. I will respectfully allow them to kill me. Nothing I hate more than people surrerending or quitting I genuinely think it's one of the worst things about master duel.
youre wrong on that one. you can stay if you want but people have the right to not waste their time.
If i vs a snake eyes player i leave
yeah i'll surrender on sight if i see certain decks
In paper play yes surrender thats total fine. But in master duel dont do that you'll lose out on gems and other wnd of match stuff
this is true but i'd rather lose gems than my time.
It really sounds like you don't actually want to play Yu-Gi-Oh, you want to play the game you remember from recess in middle school that used Yu-Gi-Oh cards and made up rules loosely based on the anime that had made up rules.
Also, my brother in Obelisk, Paul says multiple times in his video that he doesn't use top-tier meta deck, even though I usually hate the idea that you can't use a good deck and have fun at the same time.
find me the point in the video where i said he uses a top tier meta deck. i just said he understands and knows how to make a competitive deck. competitive doesnt mean tier 0
also, why is that recess middle school the only other version of yugioh you're referencing? it's true that the current form of yugioh is yugioh, but so was the many different forms it took before it got to this point. synchro, xyz, pendulum era.
if i didnt know better i'd say you were one of the long ass combo players
In competitive I can semi understand.....
but when I am playing CASUAL where there are no prizes to be won and it is just to play a fun game of yu-gi-oh and my opponent starts busting out meta cards and start playing the meta record, I have to question how desperate are you to win?
I am here with my Red eyes Black Dragon or Kozmo deck for a laugh and your playing that tired old tune? No thanks ima change the track, see ya.
Now we see if I made my point clear enough or if I sound like am talking rubbish 😜
Scattershot eff
yup thats basically it.
I like your opinion let’s have a casual duel in Master duel!
hell yeah, i actually have so many stupid decks i wanna use. lemme see if i can set something up this weekend.

Just raigeki 🤷♂️
your duel tactics is truly in a league of its own
Noone asked lil pup
no one asked you to comment too but here we both are
Here is some advice from a retired Yu-Gi-Oh player if you're for competition then never surrender.
@@CAOcreations yup, exactly.
