For me, getting notifications for a new shawn video is the equivalent of doing your chores in 1678 and hearing the call to prayer from your villages tiny church so you drop everything and run to mass IMMEDIATELY
Shawn saying this is going to be the craziest video we’ll ever watch in our life as if, that doesn’t already embody his entire TH-cam channel. His mind…
you bought happy hour a while ago and have it shelved as want to read on goodreads, you should consider reading it! its so so good just happy pretty girls in new york doing pretty girl shit and it really put me in a perfect summer mood and lowkey made me joyful for 2 days straight, but also explores friendship, class(like in money and stuff idk english) and more. it also contains no explicit scenes which u mentioned in the romance book vid that u dont seek out which i relate to and it was a definite plus for me.
"Another Country" is a fascinating novel and which i consider as his best work; because it's deeply intertwined with James Baldwin's personal experiences. Baldwin actually spent 13 years writing this book! A period marked by significant travel and personal challenges. After leaving America, he moved to France and later to Istanbul, where the diversity of the people there inspired him to continue his novel after struggling with writer's block. Baldwin faced substantial internal conflicts and pressures as an African American writer, and the emotional toll of the Civil Rights Movement also impacted his writing. His experiences in various countries, especially France, profoundly influenced his work on "Another Country".
thou hath blessed thy with a mighty new display for the pillage to fix their eyes upon, for thy is thankful for thou grantings! no but literally this is literally what i needed at literally this exact moment THANK YOU please never stop
I feel like us book readers collectively had the worst slump of our lives in the past couple of months and we're just all waiting for summer to save us
I've heard that Elizabeth Strout's "tell me everything" is her sort of crossover epic in which all of her books/series come together and all the characters meet. But since youve watched the show maybe it will still work for you
east of eden is one of my favorite books of allllll time. read it in 9th grade for the first time and i still remember specific lines that carved into my brain.
yaaaas! razors edge, one of my favorites! 💖 i think you are gonna love it, a lot of gossip in it, and its about a guy that wants to spend his life reading a bunch of books and find his spiritual path, i mean goals. i love sophie too💖
Your video came up on my home page and I've never seen your channel before. By your thumbnail, you looked like very serious and also sanitized. I was expecting an almost monotone video. So when I clicked on your video, I was completely caught off guard between the contrast in my expectations and the reality 😂
I have also been distracted, but I’m reading Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton. It focuses on a zombie apocalypse, and the narrator is Shit Turd, a talking crow. As a comedic horror novel, it has been refreshing.
Good day, Shawn. You are one of the most courageous people who spoke out against the g3nocide occurring in Plstne, while many other creators are doing everything they can to keep the topic from coming up at all because they believe it to be too "political." Many thanks.
I found your channel via your Shrek and Bee Movie fanfic videos but I’m staying because it seems like you have a similar taste in books to me. I love domestic/literary fiction where it’s light on plot, heavy on vibes. My favorite book of all time is “The Elegance of the Hedgehog” by Muriel Barbery. Sounds like something you might enjoy. In the meantime, you got a new subscriber! 💛📖
omg i started the 100 years of solitude and you are not gonna be disappointed it is disgusting and crazy and poetic and omg it’s crazy i need to see your review i haven’t actually finsihed it cause i got distracted but i will finish it this week (hopefully)
It is so surreal for me that you are reading Gabriel García Marquez because he is from my country Colombia. I haven't read that book but others from him, it's fun!!! My mom tells me that when i do read it, i should do like a family tree for the characters because there are many people with the same name and it's kinda confusing so yeah. I hope you enjoy it and tell is about how you liked it (even if you didn't hehe)
the only book i was forced to read in school that i enjoyed was Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. Idk if i’d still love it (i need to re-read it) but i remember it being so weird and fun
was going thru the same issue as you, starting books being like omg this is great then putting it down and leaving it to collect dust. i went to the library and perused the nonfiction section which was weird because im a sci fi or lit fic kinda gal and now i have 7 books to read haha currently reading Tip of the Iceberg by Mark Adams and i think you would enjoy it too glad to see youre feeling better
Based on this description 7:55-8:45 of what you love to read, I’d say give The Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice a shot. There’s definitely a lot of vibes there (1700’s Louisiana to start and believe it or not it only gets wilder from there) and *definitely* freakazoid, wack characters that are acting crazy and treating each other like absolute shit. And even though at first it kinda just seems like kinky vampire warm garbage, the more you get into it, the more Anne starts to deep dive into more complex things like discussions about morality and love with some actually surprisingly beautiful writing. And the interpersonal relationships between the main characters??? Some of the most disturbing, messed up, sweet, passionate, batshit crazy, confusing dynamics I’ve read. Plus, gay! which we love. Tbh though I didn’t even really like the first time I read it (I think this is probably because certain things disturbed me so much that when I was finished with it I didn’t give myself any time to think about it, I just wanted it off my shelf and out of my head nOW), but AMC recently came out with a TV series adaptation of it-which is actually really good? And that I would actually recommend? -and which made me really come back to some of the writing with a new appreciation for it. Anyway, you might also hate it idk but for some reason this was the book that immediately came to my mind during your description. Thank you for the video, I love watching your stupid ass content. It really helps with the crushing weight of living! Also, love that you’re in your thawing era, girlie, go offfff💅
About summer we are the exact opposite🫣 I live in Italy and meanwhile EVERYONE is excited about summer I'm already dying inside because I become the worst version of myself during these hot months. I HATE sweating, all that light, people half naked "touching" you on the bus and feet everywhere🥲 it's stuff for nightmares for me but I know I'm the weirdo.. Speaking about "no plot, just vibes", if you haven't read it, try "my family and other animals" by Durrell. It is so fun, charming and well written🤍
Adults: why do all these nerds overanalyze every single look between two boy band members or a millisecond where two characters on a TV show exist on screen together like it’s all some deeper thing Our Teachers Growing Up: WHAT DO YOU THINK THAT MEANS?!?!? WHAT DO YOU THINK THE COLOR OF HER HAIR MEANS? WHY DID SHE HELLO WHEN HE WALKED UP BECAUSE IT CANT JUST BE THAT YOU DO THAT WHEN PEOPLE COME UP TO YOU
he's not pregnant but he always delivers

I'm blaming it on exams 😅
I've heard that Elizabeth Strout's "tell me everything" is her sort of crossover epic in which all of her books/series come together and all the characters meet. But since youve watched the show maybe it will still work for you

I hope summer brings you joy. LETS GET OUT OF THİS SLUMP
I was also a huge Of Mice and Men hater in high school but East of Eden is one of the greatest novels of all time!
I found your channel via your Shrek and Bee Movie fanfic videos but I’m staying because it seems like you have a similar taste in books to me. Hearing you say you can’t wait for summer is hilarious when it’s 35Celsius here.
