I don't know if you know, but my fiancé left me without warning or explanation. It was the darkest period of my life. For months, I was just trying to stay afloat. I had no direction in my life. The relationship had robbed me of my hobbies and my confidence by that point, so I had nothing; I was starting from scratch, and I was so, so scared. But it's because of this that I KNOW that it gets better. It took me a long time to not blame myself for the end of the relationship. I felt discarded and alone because none of my friends (all beautiful and perfect, had never been left by a man before). I reasoned that there must be something wrong with me because why else would my ex end the relationship? And then it made me look at all of the girls he started hanging out with afterward as being better, prettier, funnier, more adventurous. I let myself spiral like this for way longer than I should have. Then one day you cry a little less. The pain, while still awful and terrible and all consuming, lessens. It's so small, you might not even know that it's happening inside of you right now, but it gets better, bit by bit. Until you realize that the end of the relationship was the best thing that could have happened to you. You deserve someone who loves you the way that you love them, and you will find the love of your life and they'll make you realize why this relationship didn't work out.
