This was like Christmas morning all over again. Great footage of what the world’s best deal with. Very humbling. Thanks for the inspiration to get out of bed.
Great going Matt🔥 especially with all that unfortunate issue you have to go through because of that clown (sorry to say) and still you are putting your best in workout and bringing us class content this itself shows superior level and professionalism of Sweat Elite.
Thank you for the support Rahul, yes that whole scam was very frustrating and more will be explained on the next sweat elite podcast to protect others from it. Infinite Gaming - previous video, top comment thread you can learn about it
I love to watch your journey. Was staying in Iten last year and return end august. Maybe skip the Red Bull? Dehidration. Fartleks ate tough there. Makes you strong. I will keep watching. Keep up the goid work and enjoy
Love your work Matt! A question for the podcast please: a little embarrassing.. but any advice for trapped wind/toilet issues immediately post-workouts? Mine seems very closely related to hard running/longer intervals on undulating terrain. Significantly less likelihood on the flat. Perhaps my downhill technique could be better. Fairly experienced club runner/healthy weight. Thanks!
I wonder if reaching your max carb intake at marathon pace while at altitude (looks like you're close to 8000 feet where you are in Kenya) vs sea level (Osaka) is noticeably different. I've seen conflicting reports/studies that you should or can consume more carbs at altitude vs a recent study (Challenging traditional carbohydrate intake recommendations for optimizing performance at high altitude) that suggest the opposite...that people, especially those coming from lower altitudes to elevation, can't metabolize as many carbs during aerobic exercise. I'd be curious to hear what elite marathoners who may not have grown up at altitude (so Kipchoge would not be a good example) have experienced when they train at altitude and race at sea level - does their max carb intake while at marathon pace change from altitude to sea level or vice versa? I'm sure there are some that aren't factoring this in although I heard of a pro runner who debuted at Chicago this year who hadn't practiced fueling and paid the price, leading me to believe that not all elite runners or their coaches pay attention some of the finer points of fueling.
Hello, a great question and one which is hard to fully answer in one message! Due to there being less oxygen readily available at altitude the body simply has to 'work harder' at the same intensity. The effects of this are also seen most during the first few days at altitude until there is a small adaptation. Therefore from a fueling standpoint, intake would need to be slightly higher as the intensity would ultimately be higher to do the same workload at sea level. There are a number of other avenues to discuss around this topic, including GI distress, and so if you would like to chat to us in more detail then please do book in a free video call via our website😁
do you track your heartrate at the very easy runs as well? I wonder how the HR during your easy 30min 6min/km run was in comparison to a run with similar pace at sea level.
love seeing these videos and wish you all the best throughout the training block! thanks for documenting and sharing. would love to know more about your pre-workout fueling...i noticed a red bull in your hand along with another bottle while you mentioned the chapati/rice meal you had a few hours before! would be interested to hear how and why you space out what you do before each workout and also how the red bull impacts your heart rate, if you've noticed that at all!
Any particular reason your doing osaka marathon over Tokyo marathon? Both being in the same country and one week in the different. Tokyo being a major marathon also, probably a deeper field for the sub elites.
I enjoy these videos but I also can't but feel sorry for what you guys put yourselves through. Every training session you guys show seem to be a deathmatch between yourselves and the road. I wonder if you're not all trying a bit too hard at this... ? Thoughts?
Are you suggesting Kenya has safer places to run? If so, you must come and check it out. It’s the wild Wild West and the locations we’re training on are the most suitable we have available within ~30min drive
If it was Nairobi I would’ve agreed because from the Kenyans I know, they say it is dangerous and very easy to get robbed there but Eldoret and Iten are safe because they are pretty far away from Nairobi and that whole ordeal.
Can I suggest that you create two TH-cam channels. Keep sweat elite for the great professional runners content that you make and use a separate channel for your own vlog. I'm sure your personal efforts are interesting to some people but they don't really belong on the same channel as pro runners and it lessens the value of the sweat elite channel... No disrespect meant by that.
I am going to be highly surprised if Nell doesn't win Boston. Her training in Kenya has been insane
God damn, that Fartlek looked brutal. Fair play for grinding it out. Weirdly, it’s actually motivating to see.
come try it sometime
Hey it got me out of bed!!

Thanks for the support James
The excitement I get when an episode comes out. Perfect for breakfast!
Thanks for the vid Matt. Still early days. 👍
Thanks Peter 👍🏻

I’m not caught up with everything. What happened with Matt?

Keep uploading 🙃🙃🥹
Great video to watch after morning session. I share your struggle with the fartlek and XC.
Big time struggle
Matt is a beast. Is he okay, though? Been noticing a lot of coughing lately. Wonder if it's still long-COVID
Asthma =( it flares up in the dust
Asthma which = post nasal drip

That soar vest colourway is epic! Do you go for your regular t shirt size? Could you size up for a looser fit?
Love Soar. Same size as usual.
Would love to join you for training camp. All I need is to figure out what to do with the kids 🤣 Feed to lions? 😂

No tracking of heart rate

Why you not training with the Kenyans the have loads of big running groups for fartlik
They’re 1km ahead
Any particular reason your doing osaka marathon over Tokyo marathon? Both being in the same country and one week in the different.
Tokyo being a major marathon also, probably a deeper field for the sub elites.
Couldn’t get into Tokyo marathon elite field
@@sweatelite thanks for the answer. Love the videos. Keep up the good work
Sir kenya this time cold or hot reply please
as you can see in the footage there was a blizzard and it was freezing cold
@fidru it’s brutal out here
👍👍👍
👍🏻

That’s what it takes to make it big. Suffer or regret
I think maybe in reference you guys training hard and killing yourself in training.not the conditions in kenya
If it was Nairobi I would’ve agreed because from the Kenyans I know, they say it is dangerous and very easy to get robbed there but Eldoret and Iten are safe because they are pretty far away from Nairobi and that whole ordeal.
Right, I mis understood. Every training session though? Can you point to others?

He is a 2.20 marathoner and he makes his living from running so he is professional too?
Sound idea, did think about this but figured many people on the channel enjoy the sub elite content too
We love the sub elite content. Keep it up!
Don't listen to this bozo
@@sweatelite thanks for the reply. Good luck with the training 🏃
