Obviously, it goes without saying that this is incredible. I wanted to ask about the wedding ring thing. Is it a physical ring, or a tattoo? It looks like the latter to me, and it looks really cool! I've heard quite a few complaints about those kinds of tattoos, but love the idea for myself. I know I could go on Reddit or something, but being here, I thought I'd ask someone who has (or appears to have to my crappy eyes) one that looks amazing.
Thanks man! Your eyes haven't deceived you. I got it because the idea of jewelry has never really appealed to me, while tattoos (obviously) have, so it seemed like a logical choice. There are definitely downsides though. It's incredibly painful-moreso than any area of the arm, as I've gotten it all done at this point-and hard to make it stick well. I've already had it done twice bc the first time it was patchy, and it'll need a third soon. Luckily it's not a big deal bc I've still got probably 3 sessions left on my sleeve so the artist just does that at the same time. And on the bright side, it only takes about 10 mins to go over. The palm side still isn't totally covered though, and will inevitably need touchups if I want to keep it pristine, which I don't really care about. It also blew out a little bit-kinda looks like a bruise below the tattoo up to the knuckle-which isn't a big deal either bc my hands are ugly anyway and always changing colour from Raynaud's syndrome haha. I'm sure if you were getting something less blocky, it'd blow out less.

I did think that the underside might not remain as bold for as long, but I suppose that's not a part that many people will see as much. From the video, at least to my eyes, it does genuinely look really good - more specifically striking and bold. It'll probably be ages before I get married, but I'll bear this in mind. I do quite like the idea of a black tungsten carbide ring myself, though I do worry that wearing a ring might drive me crazy (or crazier - probably best to avoid that...) Thanks again.
Thanks dude! Yeah, it's pretty similar to Mike except I think he only uses one finger. It's like middle finger down, index finger down, middle finger up, index finger up for tremelo, and the staccato part like at 0:19 is mostly just the index with the middle used occasionally for groups of three. I never use the ring or pinky to pick unless it's slap n' pop or sometimes for chords
@@LindenPoirier don't want to argue since I'm not entirely sure but iirc Mike adapted a really weird version of this technique in which he doesn't use index but middle and ring fingers. There's a guy who covered Saligia like that (/watch?v=ecQEQGveaDo), seems to be really effiicient.

I started out using a version of this technique where it was index and ring instead since they're about the same length, and it works well in isolation, but I found it awkward transitioning from index/middle finger riffs and back.

It's hard to say. I've had it memorized for a couple months but haven't been working on covers for a while. But yeah, definitely long, like more than almost any of my songs (not to mention tabbing it out). A lot of weird stuff to get down in muscle memory like 0:19 and 1:38. Would not recommend hahaha

What inspired You to learn bass? It's amazing how talented You are at bass. You can play at fast speeds without a pick.
