@Arine Garin, This will be a long reply, sorry in advance lol I became a fan of Ethan recently b/c of Fuyao--> I was disappointed to read his past news as well but I accepted that he's not perfect.. I think a part of it has to do with him growing up in a military household, he was rebellious in his teenage years.. I feel it's hard for him to suppress his sexual desires (he's an adventure seeker and loves thrill which is why he still does car racing even after getting badly injured) and it got worse after he spent a year in the army.. He was out of control then, but thankfully he made some really good friends in recent years and calmed down. If you look past his womanizing side, you would see a lot of good traits in him, he's not called a sunshine boy for no reason and his friends say he's kind and warm. He's also very protective of people and helpful. Outgoing and carefree. I think despite the fact that he cheated on his ex, he genuinely wanted to marry her... He appeared on a show last month and from his eyes, you can tell that he regret hurting his ex. He drunkenly proposed to her in 2011 but was rejected and they wore matching rings in 2014. Something happened in 2015 that made them break up, majority of the people believed it was Ethan's cheating, while a few think it was his ex who cheated first and that's why she had a new relationship a few months after they broke off. Some also think that the bad reports were released by his ex-manager trying to ruin his rep. As for him yelling at weibo users after the breakup (people told him to go die and he said it back), the thing about Ethan is that he has no filter. That's both good and bad. Good, because it's entertaining in variety shows and really showcases his honesty. He's unlike other stars that try to maintain a good image, what you see is exactly what you get. Bad, because there are certain stuff that you should never say because everybody's watching you and all it brings is negative attention. Normally, celebrities who get exposed dating/cheating will have pictures or videos revealed but Ethan had none. The rumors were released by his ex-manager when Ethan tried to sign to a company. So while 90% of me think he cheated because of his sensual and flirty nature (he likes to do skinship a lot) and his answers on love life, 10% of me do believe that he didn't. Sadly, he never defends himself, even from the outrageous slander in the past. Says there's no reason to clarify stuff he never did. Arine, I'm glad you decided to continue supporting Ethan :) He had a rough journey since childhood.. Only Taiwanese men have to serve in the army, not Chinese. He missed a lot of opportunities in the year he was gone that went to his fellow friends. When he came back, the movies he did partake in failed to make a splash. Later on, he was recommended by his good friend Eddie to star alongside him in a good movie but he ended up injured and had to drop out. 2015 came and it was his worse year, he was attacked by the Taiwan media and netizens constantly about his cheating. He was associated with "Douchebag cheater" and still is. The Taiwan tabloid still brings up his cheating even when talking about his success in Fuyao :( Due to the negative attention in 2015, he lost several of his roles to Eddie and his movie with Zhou flopped. Things got better in 2016 when he started appearing in Chinese varieties. He made a lot of good friends (one who he calls 'dad') and his image improved. Then in 2017, he was cast a minor role in a Chinese blockbuster movie and the male lead in Fuyao! :) I'm happy for him, I adore his killer smile too! His next drama which he is now filming will be a historical period drama. From the fantaken photos, he looks really good in uniform :D BTW, I only discovered recently through an article that he grew up with his grandparents until 10 y/o and he does not have a good relationship with his father. When young, his father would always lose his temper and beat him with his belt. The article focuses a lot on Ethan's inner feelings and struggles. If you want, I can give a brief summary.
