- Larkin Poe is fronted by two immensely talented musicians and sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell. Both are accomplished players, having started as Classical prodigies at a young age. Both are equally accomplished singers and songwriters. Their music blends an amalgam of blues, rock, alt-country and folk into a Southern gumbo that will have you run a gamut of emotion and exhilaration usually reserved for bands with twice the years under their belt. Articulate, talented, beautiful young women who rock...what more could you ask for? This is one of the most memorable sessions of 2014, a year that was filled with exceptional and memorable sessions.

After watching numerous Larkin Poe videos, this one is seemingly the only one with Megan's mic pot turned up! Finally you can hear her!!!
Megan and Rebecca are wonderful musicians, natural and talented ,, give them a play lots on TH-cam,, 💕💕

Love the commentary at the end about critics and even being self critical in times of stress....having self acceptance and acceptance of others..everyone is in their own stages of their own journey. no need to stomp on anyone else to make yourself highter...i fully agree and have experienced being onthe receiving end of that boot being stomped on..and part of where the self critical thing begins...because there are those that have made us feel thats what we deserve........but not true... ignore the critics. I love that I'm just gonna show up and be me today. ..and thats enough. for me:) You have huge talent and wise beyond your years. Inspiring me to want to start playing. My dad has a whale back mandolin (i don't know the actual term for it) and I have a ukulele and electric that i bought with intending to learn...and play. Its time to make time to do it. Awesome ! That was a real eye-opener about you two girls. Now I understand where you are coming from and why you collaborate so well. You have the fundamentals in place and all you need now is a little bit of luck.
Oh they ve MADE it Ok! I met them back in 2019 at a local small venue in IN just down rd from my home. Super friendly, nice , modest and talented sisters and such a unique sound especially Rebecca's incredibly versatile voice , tho both blend so well along with Megan's slide of course too. Love em!

charlie raymond it's actually a Bill Nash Jazzmaster. Rebecca seems to alternate these days between the Nash and a Strat.
In answer to your question... its so she doesn't hit the control and change it when she is strumming. A lot of strat players fo the same with the selector switch.
The best part isn't that they are sisters, the best part is that the bassist is Kylo Ren's brother.

I think Rebecca uses a drop D-tuning or some other kind of open tuning

Larkin Poe are the sisters. Any backing you see used live are hired guns. So these guys are not interesting for the medias and most fans.
@@westmus Well, given that this is sort of professionally produced and that we see credits at start and finish, it bothers me that the producer didn't feel the need to give credit to the excellent rhythm section. (Maybe I'm just grumpy because the sound engineer has lots of potential to improve. A pan over the audience to get a feel for the venue would have been nice.) Very impressed by Larkin Poe tho.
Great musician, but, very bad sound engineer.

To be fair, she quickly corrected herself to "hard job". I don't think she was comparing being in a band to coal mining or working on a trawler! She obviously just meant mentally hard to keep writing songs, and physically hard to keep practicing and touring.
